Chapter 17

The rest of the week went by smoothly, the next following day, like Edward promised, he picked us up after Charlie had left. When I walked out of the house, the truck was in the driveway where it usually is. I smiled up at Edward when I got to his car.

"Good morning." I told him.

"Morning." He said.

"You know, people are gonna be staring at us when we get to school right." I told him.

"No they won't." Edward said with a chuckle.

It didn't take us that long to get to the school. Edward drives awful fast and I kinda like it. Bella on the second thought didn't. I mean Charlie is a cop but he probably wouldn't say or do anything about it. Only thing he could do really is give him either a warning or a ticket.

Edward chuckled. I looked up and over at him and seen his eyes in the rear view mirror, staring back at me.

"What's funny? I didn't hear anyone talking." I had said.

"Oh you did, but just not out loud." He had said.

"What you mean?" I asked.

"Edward can hear minds, Kat." Bella said turning around to look at me.

"What? Seriously?" I asked. "'Does your whole family?'" I thought in my head.

"No, I'm the only one that reads mines. But some of my family has other gifts. Alice; can see the future when she can. Jasper; he's an empath: can control feelings, Emmett; has his strength, Rosalie; her beauty, Esme; her mother instincts, and Carlisle; his unparalleled compassion and the ability to resist the allure of human blood, allowing him to live a "vegetarian" vampire lifestyle.” Edward explained.

I hummed at what he had told me. Still a little shocked knowing that him and his whole family were vampires. Now I really have to watch what I’m thinking around him even if it kills me.

Guessing Edward heard me think that, because he cleared his throat at me. Making me look back at him once more. I smiled some then looked back out the window before getting out of the car once we parked.

But like I said before leaving the house, well it happened. Edward got out of the car and walked over letting me and Bella out of the car. Everyone in the whole school was looking at us. Bella even had said something about it. Edward chuckled at her as he wrapped his arm around her shoulder.

As I walked inside the school and headed towards my locker, Tyler was there.

“So Cullen huh?” Tyler asked.

“What about it?” I asked him.

“Both you and your sister came out of his car. Is your sister dating him now?” He asked.

“Ummm, I think so.” I said as I shut my locker. “Why you ask that?”

“Just wondering. I was gonna ask her out for prom.”

“Oh, we’re actually going out of town that weekend so yeah that’s not happening.” I told him then walked away.

As I walked away, the bell had hung making me speed walk to class. Class was a little slow today but it sped by smoothly when it did. But when it was going slow, I heard all the talks from everyone in the school in each class about how Bella and I rode with Edward. Bella she didn’t pay attention to it. But me it kinda bother me but I didn’t say anything. I just let it go.

By the time lunch came, I went to the cafeteria and got food. I was about to go to m table when Emmett was behind me walking to his table.

“Hey, do you mind if I come sit with y’all?” I asked.

“Sure. Edward’s. It sitting with us anyways.” He said nodding his head towards where Bella and Edward’s were sitting at a different table.

“Great.” I said.

Once I got to the table with Emmett, I saw my so called friends look over at me then my sister. Mike looked a little jealous that Bella was sitting with Edward today. I kept catching him look over at their table.

“Kat, is everything okay?” Alice asked me.

“Yea, I guess so.” I said as I took a bite of my food. Not really touching it.

“You sure?” She asked.

“Yeah, why?” I asked.

“Well you haven’t really touched your food. And that’s something for us.” She said with a small chuckle.

“I guess I’m not really hungry.” I said as I pushed my tray away from me.

“What’s wrong?” Rose asked me. “Are you sick?”

“No, I don’t know. I just have this feeling that now that I know the truth about you guys that I should tell everyone about it but I’m not. But it feels weird that everyone was or still is, staring at us.”

“They’re not staring at you. They’re staring at Bella.” Rose had said. “I mean no one really looked at us hardly til now.”

“Rose!” Alice said a little loud but only for us to hear.

That was when Edward had turned around and looked at us. Whatever he was saying to doing only they could hear him. Rose looked away from him and my sister to looking down. As she looked down, she pushed my tray back towards me and said “eat.”

I nodded my head at her and did what she said. I ate little bit more of what I had on my tray until the bell had rung. We talked some more in between bites but nothing much.

As the rest of the day went by faster than the morning did. Edward took us home after school had ended, only to drop us off.

“I’ll see you later tonight.” Edward told Bella as we got out of the car. Before shutting the door, Edward looked over at me. “Kat, don’t be hard on yourself and eat something. Alice was worried about you after lunch.”

“I’ll try okay.” I told him then shut the door.

As I went inside, I dropped my bag by the stairs and went over to the fridge to find me something to eat. I was hungry after Edward said something about it. I warmed my up some leftover but not much since Bella was gonna be cooking in a few hours.

While I was warming up my food, I went over to my bag and got out my homework. As I put it on the table the microwave had went off. I went and got my food and sat at the table to eat. As I was eating, I started working on my homework. It didn’t take that long for me to do it but once I was done, I put it back in my bag, put my dish in the sink and went upstairs to Bella’s room.

I changed clothes then went into my room and laid down. I was tired now after I ate, which was weird for me. Don’t I’m not gonna complain about a nap after a long day of school.
