A small Town called The Grove
Nerium P.O.V
I have been having this dream every night, but it only started once I got into this town, the dream about red eyes watching me at every turn I make. Every little thing I do, the two blood red eyes following me. Then I was standing next to a mirror looking into it, only for a little girl to appear in the mirror. This little girl was me. At first, I didn't think it was me, but when she looked up at me, the sadness in her eyes said it all. She soon started to cry about something until a hand came from the darkness behind her making her scream. The hand pulled her away into that same darkness. I wanted to save her, save myself, but I could not go into that mirror. I screamed until I felt a hand on my shoulder, before I could turn around to see who it was. That's when I end up waking up, sweating, mouth dry as a bone and it would take me a few seconds to remember where I am. All because I ended up in this town. I had no clue what this place was. It's not on any maps at all and I have been living here for over half a year now. It's a very odd little town, in the middle of nowhere and I like it that way. It sounds strange, but it makes me feel safe even with the bad dreams. It felt like this town was pulling me in when I was just wandering aimlessly. It is called 'The Grove' and it has about 1,500 people here. Not a lot, but not too small either. Anyways, I made myself at home in this strange small town. It was hard at first because of the looks that people were giving me at first, as I am, different. I was born with long titanium white hair that goes down to my hip if I leave my hair down, but I mostly like to keep it up in a ponytail, along with my odd hair. I also have two different eye colours. One on the right is blue and my left eye is purple. It was hard to find a job or even look for a home as I had no penny to my name at all. You could say I was homeless, but if it was not for that sweet old lady named Lily Garymore that runs the cafe that I am now working at. I would still be on the streets if it was not for her, looking for food in the bins. Yes, I know, Ew, but trust me when I say that, when things become really bad, that's when you have to think the unthinkable, but it is all good now and in the past. I have my own little apartment that I call home when not working at the cafe. Right now I am at the cafe working, serving a bunch of stupid teen boys that don't know how to turn it down a little, but to keep this job, I have to put on a brave face, a smile at them. " Hello boys and what can I get you today? " I ask nicely as I could, knowing the first thing that's is going to come out was... " Hay hot stuff, want to come into my car and have a good time. " The first stupid boy said. And that is my mood from good to wanting to kill this stupid ass, but as Mama Lily says, " Don't give them what they want. " I just smile a little and ask the question again. The stupid boy's face didn't seem happy about it. The rest, however, thought it was funny as hell as they started laughing like hyenas. Once they calm down, they order what they wanted and that god they did because I am close to blowing my top off. I hate people like them. Thinking they could do anything they wanted because they had been given the silver spoon. I headed to the kitchen and gave the order to the chief. " Don't worry little one, teenage boys are always like this but they mean no harm. " Sam said with a smile, I smiled back, but I really didn't think the boys seemed to not like what happened, have a feeling that one guy might try something but I didn't want to worry Sam about my thought and just laughed a little. Sam is a big man, a really big, well built man and if he had not been 55 years old, I would for sure date him. He is one of those guys that age slowly. He looks after himself. He seems to be much younger for his age if you ask me. His short brown hair that he could put in one of their hippy ponytails when cooking, but what most girls fall over heals for if them green eyes. They look like the forest are in his eyes because how green they are. When I first seen them I just wanted to keep looking at them forever but lucky for me I had more control than other people. " Yeah, well you are not the one putting up with them. " I said getting the drinks that they order onto the tray. Sam just laughed at what I said and began cooking the food. I was making my way to the guys when I felt something that made me end up falling hard onto the floor, glass and the drinks all over me. All I could hear was a ringing sound. " Looks like the ugly chick had a big fall. " The boy that wanted me to join him in the car was not calling me ugly? and on top, he was the one that made me fall like that. Sam soon came rushing out of the kitchen shouting at the boy that was just standing over me to get out and the rest of the guys also. " You are no longer welcome here! " An old woman's voice came from the door, which made everyone, even the lads freeze up. " You, I am going to have words with your father later!... Now.. GET OUT! " All the guys made a mad dash for it as Sam was trying his best not to hurt me as I had some glass in my arm. " I'm fine, nothing I can handle. Mama Lily. " I said, trying to stay calm, but I could feel my body shivering. Not because of the cold wet drinks that were on me, but with anger that some punk did this just because I said no to him. Lily and Sam took me to the back to get cleaned up. " Don't worry about the mess, I will do that later. " Sam said as he made me sit down on a chair. Sam was gentle as he could take out the glass from my arm. " You are a brave, little one, I would be crying my eyes out about now. " Sam said, taking one last glass from my arm as I just smiled a little at him. " What can I say, I know when to cry and when not to show weakness I guess. " I didn't really feel like saying anymore than I most because it felt like it was digging into my past and that is what I want it to say. The past. Sam gave me a look, wanting to know what that meant, but he just smiled lightly at me, knowing that I didn't want him to ask anymore. Both Lily and Sam know that I don't like talking about my past. It's something I want to keep down under ground forever. " Alright, go home, Nerium. Rest. " Lily Graymore. This sweet lady is my hero. She didn't ask anything or wanted to know why I was on the streets, she just came up to me ask me if I needed a roof over my head, food and a job. At first, I thought she was crazy, by giving me, a nobody a job and a home, but over time, I got to know her. Lily is a lovely woman that wanted me to call her Mama Lily as everyone she knew does. Her long dark brown hair goes below her shoulders and her lovely crystal blue eyes are like two sapphires that can see into your soul. Give me a shiver every time. Anyways, she looks young, just like Sam, but she has a son, so I am sure she is almost the same age as Sam, maybe a little bit younger. I did ask once but Mama Lily just gave me this look to say. Did you really just ask me how old I am? And trust me, never ask women how old they are because it just seems to make them angry about it. Anyways, I am home now. Sam patched me up, yet it was only 12pm with nothing to do. I would have stayed to keep working but one look at Mama Lily made me know when to take the day off. So the only thing I can do. Log on into my online game. War of the Guilds. It's a fantasy online game that I am kind of hooked on right now. I log on and almost a few seconds one of my friends whisper me. The name ShadowFang popped up onto my chat window.
ShadowFang: " Hey you! You're on a bit early getting online today, something happen? "
I smiled at my online friend. We have been in the same guild when I first started playing this game about two months ago. I go by the name DarkCrystal for this character that I am playing right now.
DarkCrystal: " Hay. Yeah, some asshats make me fall over with some drinks on the tray, glass all over the place and also my arm. "
ShadowFang: " WHAT?!!! OMG Are you ok!? Tell me where you are now and I make sure they never hurt you again!!! "
I laughed at what ShadowFang said. He always seems to know how to put a smile on my face when things become crap and that goes for me also. If he is having a bad day, I like to try and make him smile. I have no clue why, but there is something about ShadowFang that makes me feel like I can trust him. Even over the internet, sadly, I could not trust him with everything.
DarkCrystal: " Don't worry, my boss made sure they would never come back and I would be fine in the morning. I heal fast. "
ShadowFang: " Fine! But still, if you need me or anything, just call ok. "
ShadowFang and I have each other's numbers. We talk or text but never meet one another. Why? Maybe we are both just scared to see each other, to see what we really look like away from the game. Until one of us puts on our big pants on, we are just going to keep talking here or on the phone.
ShadowFang: " Anyways are you up for a dungeon run? "
DarkCrystal: " Sure. Something easy and see how my arm goes from there? "
We both stayed online until 9pm, until my stomach demanded food. Time flies when your having fun right?
DarkCrystal: " Think it's time to call it here! Stomach wants food! Lol. I see you tomorrow ! "
ShadowFang: " Sure think! Being shouted out right now anyways. See you tomorrow! "
Both of us logged out of our game. I ended up ordering Pizza for the night. The thought of that stupid teenager still plays in my mind. The thought he could just get away with it, pisses me off big time. I get up, put my shoes on and locked my door behind me. I think it's time for me to say a few colorful words to that asshole!

I could see them, talking, laughing, but one had a frown on his face still on his face. Knowing going home now would be the end of his fun with his friends even if they tried to talk to him about what happened in the cafe. It made my blood boil. Hearing what had happened there made them laugh. I could not hold on any longer! I came out of hiding and went up to them. They stopped what they were doing. " Hay! What do you want?! " The frowning boy said. He was walking up to me, not feeling any scared, what's so ever, but it would soon change, " I said, What do you want? I'm not in the mood to play games with you! " He is almost shouting in my face now, but all I could do was smile and before anyone could say anymore words. The frowning boy's head went clean off his shoulder. It was so fast that no one knew what had just happened and soon the screams could be heard. No one is leaving here alive!
