At the age of twenty five, Kaiden Gary was thrust from a not-so-perfect life and into a world filled with demons who claim that he is the reincarnation of Lucifer.

At first, he blamed it all on his boundless badluck, but that thought changes when his life begins to take a turn for the better....In this world, he wasn't just some normal peasant who survived by licking the feet of the powerful, he was a King...the ruler of the Underworld. And quite unexpectedly, he also finds something very thrilling that never existed in the human world...love.

However, what he thought to be an easy life gets very hard when threats are posed against him, powers that he knew nothing of begin to surface and demons who seek to drive him off his throne, rise up against him. To save his own life and the life of those dear to him, Kaiden will have to fight...but will a mere human win a battle against powerful beasts?

1. Badluck Follows Me Everywhere
That day, I could tell that something really really REALLY bad would happen. I could feel it, I could smell it. It was all too obvious...Badluck was always lurking around me, but this time, it got really out of hand. First thing in the morning, I woke up to see my pet dog, Fluffy, peeing on my floor...irritation sprang forth but the anger didn't ignite until I spotted the load of s**t on display infront of my door. Surely, it was natural to be angered by such nastiness...so with nostrils flaring, eyes burning hot with rage and a leather belt in hand, I moved forward, intending to beat the life out of my one and only companion...But the thing is, I never got far, instead, I slid in Fluffy's pee and kissed the floor...well technically, I kissed the s**t on the floor. I was disgusted, to say the least but I shrugged that off as a mild stroke of badluck and made my way into the bathroom where I scrubbed my skin until it burned. I then got myself ready for work. My uniform was a little funky but it wasn't so bad that it couldn't be worn for another three days or so. Badluck stroked again and it rained the second I stepped foot outside. Thankfully though, I carried my umbrella so everything was going fairly good...I closed the umbrella once I was at the front of the station, safe from the rain. A silver car, that I will probably remember for the rest of my life, chose that exact moment to speed by, splashing loads of water unto me. My uniform could no longer be worn again. Of course, I felt humiliated when walking to my office drenched in dirty water, but that kinda lessened when Stacy; the biggest b***h in town offered to lend me her spare clothes. She was a b***h to everyone who worked here and even a bigger b***h to me...which is why I shouldn't have made the mistake of thinking that she was being sincere. For about ten hours, I walked around in a pink pyjama bottom and a black v neck blouse that had little pony designs all over. To put it simply, I stood out quite a lot that day. Just when the clock ticked 9 and it was time to go home, someone called in and reported a stolen purse nearby. Because of my hilarious outfit, I was told to stick to office work, but being the apparent i***t of the bunch, I decided to attempt at being a hero. I was supposed to easily catch who I assumed was a simple pickpocket, unfortunately though, I ended up being robbed as well. I went back home with nothing in my possession other than the clothes on my back--and even that wasn't mine. The whole day was exhausting, so it was understandable that I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow...but asleep or not, badluck didn't stop there. That night I dreamt, but it wasn't any usual dream, in my opinion...this time I wasn't banging girls, I wasn't sitting on piles of gold and I definitely wasn't murdering the jackass that stole the one and only girlfriend I've ever had in my whole twenty years of living. As badluck would have it, I was standing three feet away from a six foot beast with pointy horns, red eyes and sharp teeth. I was shaking like a leaf and judging by the wetness between my thighs, I peed myself...No, I wasn't scared, I was freaking terrified! But what tripled my fear, was the fact that it didn't feel like a dream, it felt real....so real that I couldn't resist the urge to slap myself. Surprisingly, it hurt like hell, but for the sake of putting myself at ease, I just shoved that little piece of information away and thought of it as a dream... Everything around us was pitch black so there wasn't really anything else to do other than to stare...so I did, my gaze climbing up and down its bulky body that was barely covered with ripped pieces of cloth. The beast didn't move an inch, it simply stared back at me, eyes bearing no emotion whatsoever. If it wasn't for its chest heaving up and down, then I probably would've thought it was a statue. Then it suddenly came to me: 'If this really is a dream then this thing can't hurt me, right?' I seriously don't know what came over me but somehow, I bottled up the courage to test my theory. "Rawwwr!" I bared my teeth and curled my fingers so they resembled claws, then waited in dreadful anticipation for it to spring forward and devour me whole...Luckily, it didn't, there was no reaction at all, not even the twitch of an eye. It was then that I dropped my guard. I straightened my shoulders and tilted my chin up a bit as I regained my composure. Pressing up unto my tippy toes, I waved my hand infront of its face and studied it closely for even the slightest response. It took a few motionless seconds for me to finally conclude that it wouldn't be moving anytime soon. I chuckled a little at my stupidity, rubbing the back of my neck in embarrassment. "You're not that scary...But you do have a face that's a little too ugly to digest at first sight," I mumbled as I walked around it, eyes analyzing every inch of its being...to me, everything looked human if you exclude the face. I faced it and held my hand out for a handshake, a stupid smile on my lips. "How about you try to NOT show up in my dreams from now on?" The result was the same....silence. I sighed, dropping my hand. "I'll take your silence as a 'yes' and call it a truce...you won-" A loud roar coursed through the pitch black darkness, the sudden gush of air from its mouth forcing me to step back. My eyes widened, my heart took speed and by instinct, my hands went up to shield my face. I didn't know what was happening, I didn't know what suddenly triggered the beast's anger....I didn't know anything....But when it took a step forward, I knew for a fact that whatever was about to happen wouldn't be pretty. And then like soothing music in times of despair...a voice came out of nowhere, a soft but firm voice. "Strongest in all the Underworld, King of all Kings, ruler of the fourteen kingdoms and all that resides within, I; Delari Hemertod, call upon your unfathomable power to judge all those who have wronged and punish all that is evil...heed to my call, Lucifer!" Listening was inevitable, however, whoever the soft voice belonged to, whatever those words meant, I really didn't care all that much...I just wanted to wake up. So in an attempt to do so, I squeezed my eyes shut, low, desperate whispers repeatedly leaving my lips, "Please wake up...please wake up...please wake up..." When the words of the unseen were no more and the roaring of the mighty beast had ceased, I opened my eyes...Thankfully, there was no eerie darkness surrounding me and no terrifying beast watching me...And yet my confusion and fear didn't leave me. Why? Because wherever this was, wherever I woke up...wasn't my home. * * * A/N: Thanks for reading! I hope you liked the first chapter! It's my very first time writing on this platform and it's also my first time writing a story of this genre. I have high hopes for this! Please leave some feedback in the comments! I'm looking forward to seeing what you guys think!
