Everyone in my previous pack continued to gaze at me after I made the huge announcement about who I was until COnyx, the old alpha, broke the stillness.
I was questioned by him with a sneer, "What the hell are you doing back here?"
My little giggle came out, and I continued, "Oh little old me is here to save your pack that you all couldn't protect."
What in the name of Analise are you talking about? When Ansel eventually snapped out of it, he asked me.
I'm the Midnight pack's beta, you i***t.
With my finger pointed at Javier and the warriors, I stated, "My pack and I are here to help with your rogue dilemma.
You are the beta, and I am the f*****g alpha king, you understand?
You're lying; you are still just as frail as you were before you went, Ansel remarked.
Even though I had put a lot of effort into not allowing other people's words to affect me, Ansel remained the driving force behind my efforts. I wanted to show him that I was stronger than the frail eighteen-year-old girl I was. My countenance went from amused to somber as I rapidly recovered from his comments. I quickly had the i***t pinned against the wall of his office.
Don't forget who has the upper hand, I muttered ominously in his ear. You are not being helped by my pack; rather, I am. The warrior pack of which I am the beta opposes the feeble alpha position that you occupy. If you disobey me once more, I'll make sure to snap your neck like a twig.
The more quickly the darkness crept inside of me, the faster it retreated and returned in response to my delighted look. When I turned around to return to my position, Javier was grinning widely and the Midnight Warriors didn't appear surprised by what I had done.
"Now that that's settled, could one of you show us to our living arrangements," I remarked as I turned around. We'll talk about how to keep the rogues out of the pack tomorrow.
The members of Dark Moon had a brief moment of panic before gathering themselves to seem as though they weren't scared by what I had done previously. They were obviously taken aback to see the strong woman I am today in place of the modest young girl.
When Jaxon stood up, he commanded, "Follow me."
I walked out of the room without saying another word, and my pack was right after me. Jaxon showed us the way to the cabins, which were on the far east side and close to the practice fields. I divided the boy and girl fighters into two separate cabins when our pack was down to its final three cabins, and Javier and I grabbed the third cabin for ourselves. I could always count on Aiden and Javier to be there for me during my time in the Midnight pack. Given that we were both in charge of the classes back home, Javier and I had become close over the course of our two years of training. Although Lukas and I weren't as close, he was always there for me. The two of them were like my brothers.
The nine of us spent the next afternoon unpacking our stuff and settling into our living quarters before we had to report for lunch. The time had come for us to get to the dining hall for lunch. On the way there, I was thinking about all the possible outcomes when I finally saw my parents and friends after a two-year absence. All eyes were on us when we entered the dining hall after arriving there. As they continued to ogle me, the pack recognized who I was and began chatting with their friends and family. I ignored them and looked around the room for my parents; when I did, they were staring at me in a horrified manner. We moved toward my parents, signaling to the flock to follow me.
My mother uttered "Ana?" as I eventually came to a stop in front of their dining table.
I turned to face them and finally said, "Yes."
They leapt out of their seats and rushed over to embrace me without thinking twice.
My dad scolded me and said, "Later," as he hugged me tightly as I attempted to explain my disappearance.
For a while, the three of us stood there in our hug before deciding to find some solitude. The warriors stayed inside for lunch, and Javier accompanied my family and I outside.
Mom questioned, "Who is this?" as she turned to face Javier.
"This is Javier," I said, "the leader of the Midnight Pack and also a very close friend of mine."
Dad asked, "The Midnight Pack, as in the warrior pack that aids others?" in disbelief.
Yes, my friend Aiden is the pack's alpha, and I am its beta, I answered, nodding in his direction.
When they learned that I was the beta for the pack, both of my parents were in disbelief.
Upon their first amazement wearing off, they turned to face me, and Mom remarked, "Of course you are my strong girl."
Dad cut me off and added, "We understand the reason you left," as I was about to respond, "I'm sorry for leaving but."
When my dad realized that I didn't comprehend what they meant, he snarled, "Once you departed Alpha Ansel exposed the information that you were his mate and too weak to be the Anna of the pack.
I retorted, "It was for the best; I'd rather be without someone who won't regard me as an equal than with him.
My folks nodded in agreement as I finally posed the question that had been bugging me all day.
Is Ansel dating someone else? I spoke with my parents.
They gave me a tentative look before answering, "Yes."
I sighed to myself, not really being shocked that the jackass had chosen a chosen mate to take my place.
"Who?" I enquired. Once more exchanging glances, Dad nervously responded, "Medusa."
That dang b***h.
