Bethany Yearwood's life is about to change when she discovers not who, but what she truly is. Bethany is a typical 17-year- old that just began her final year in a private school her mother weirdly enrolled her in over the summer.

It's not just any private school; it's a school for special students with high privilege backgrounds, but Bethany got accepted for some reason with all expenses paid.

Why is everyone so interested in her when she first arrived? Why is the leader of the popular boys share the same color eyes as her?

What happens when she accidentally sees someone transform into a creature she thought was just fictional which her mother made up when she was a child?

Will she embrace these new changes or run from them?

One thing for sure is she can't outrun who she truly is and the rank she has, it's about to get very dangerous and it's only the beginning.

Bethany's POV: "Mom I don't want to go", I whine as my mother packs my bag. I don't want to go to a private school full of rich and snobby teenagers with a privileged background. "Bethany thinks about all the doors of opportunities that will be open once you graduate", she points out. "Why can't I attend my old school? In less than a year I'm out", I pout. "We talked about this, you're smart and I want to give you the life I never had." She always told me she would. Growing up, I didn't know who my father was. My mother told me it was complicated and left before she even knew she was pregnant with me. People were always stunned by my eyes and my hair color are my eyes are bright hazel and in the dark, it looks like it's glowing, and my hair is chestnut with a streak of white. Girls at my old school would say that I dyed my hair and it was fake, but it is totally real. "I know mom, but we're not even rich. How could I attend a private school without even a scholarship?" "I told you it was all taken care of by an anonymous sponsor." "An anonymous sponsorer? Are you sure it's not one of your one-night stands?" "Bethany Yearwood, watch your mouth", she glares at me, "the person is a friend of mine and offered you to have a good education." "Yeah, one that is miles away in the middle of nowhere. Did you know I can't find such a place anywhere on the map?" She shrugs, "We leave in one hour for the airport", she leaves my room. I sigh, I don't want to go. I have my mother's hair, but my father's eyes, and I look similar to him as mom explained. I know I would never belong to that school. I came from a single-parent home and my mother isn't rich. Heck, I don't even know my grandparents. I have this weird scar behind my neck in a shape of a crescent. Mom said it's a birthmark. Tomorrow is the first day of school and it's a stay-on-campus school. I won't be able to see my mother until the holidays. I zip up my suitcase and put on my shoes, my flight is in two hours. I'll fly to New York and from there, someone will pick me up to take me to this hidden school that's not on the map. 1 hr and 30 mins later... "Bye mom I'll miss you", I hug my mother before I go to the check-in line. There were a few teenagers in the line as well, probably flying to New York for college. "I'll miss you too and remember to have fun and keep an open mind. You're special too." "I know I'm special, I'll write you letters every week", I assured her. She nods. The private school doesn't allow phones for some reason. I bet they don't get phone signals in the middle of nowhere. At least I can carry my laptop with me. I have my carry-on bag with me which my laptop is in. I get in the line and place my stuff in the tray for it to go through a scanner while I pass through the security scanner. I look back at mom as she waves, I smile and wave back. You got this Bethany, I tell myself. Twenty minutes later, I'm in the air heading to New York.  "First time going to New York?" The guy next to me asks. I shake my head, I have been to New York before, years ago. "Me neither. I'm going to start my second year of university there. Are you flying to school as well?" I nodded and put on my headphones. *** When we land in New York it is a little past 2 pm and the airport is busy with people. I go to the area where the luggage is being collected, I wait about five minutes and get my two suitcases. I went toward the exit. I saw a woman holding up a sign with my name on it. She looked like she was in her mid-fifties with brunette-colored hair. "Hey, I'm Bethany Yearwood", I approached her. She gasps and stares at me. "Hello?" I waved my hand in front of her. She blinks, "oh I'm sorry, where are my manners? Call me Miss Ella." "Nice to meet you", I smiled, but she had a distant look on her face. "Let's go, we have got five hours to get you settled in and have a brief tour before dinner", she leads me outside the airport to a black van. The driver takes my suitcases and puts them in the trunk. Miss Ella opened the door for me to get into the backseat. I climb in then she gets in beside me. "Do you know why you're going to attend River Creek Academy?" I shook my head, "I'm still confused as to how I got accepted in the first place." "I see", she frowns. "Do you know?" She didn't reply. We drive for about two and a half hours. Long gone are the city and urban areas. We are literally in the middle of nowhere surrounded by tall trees. "Are you sure we aren't lost?" I asked Miss Ella. She is quiet the entire ride. "No, we'll be there in twenty minutes", she answers and turns back to look out the window. "Is everyone nice there?" She glances at me," depends on who you talk to, the elite kids are technically the ones who run the school. I would advise staying clear of them as much as possible." I nod. Elite kids huh? Well, I'm not rich, so I doubt they'll bother me. 20 minutes later A tall gate comes into view with a long driveway and a castle-like building at the end of the driveway. It has fountains and wild fields. "Welcome to River Creek Academy, where you'll be studying for the next ten months", Miss Ella announced. I see a few teenagers in casual clothing just lazing under the trees and on the benches. "We have a baseball field, a running track. Technically, the running takes place in the woods and a lake to the back", she adds. The building is huge up close, the school's crest is above the front door of the main building. The van comes to a stop in front of the building and Miss Ella gets out first, then I follow, someone takes out my two suitcases from the trunk. I see people staring at me and talking, some even gasp. "She has the same eyes as our alpha", someone whispers. "That's impossible. What's up with her hair?" I ignore them, feeling a bit insecure. "This way there is no time to waste, dinner is less than two hours and you still have to get a brief tour." Miss Ella ushers me inside. "My luggage." " You will be taken to your room. You have to go to the registration area to get your class schedule and locker combos." "Uniform?" "Already sorted out." There are more students inside and they are staring at me. "She smells human, but there is something else I can't put my finger on it." Aren't they all humans too? "Show some respect to the new student", Miss Ella said. "Sorry miss Ella, I thought you were retiring?" A guy retorts. "You're stuck with me for another year, pretty boy." He groans. We go up the stairs, there are lockers on both sides of the wall straight down the hallway. "This is where all the lockers are and some on the other floor above, most freshman and sophomore classes are on this floor, yours will likely be on the next floor and another building", miss Ella explains. "Where is my room?" "You'll be sharing a room. I'll show you later; keep in mind your roommate is part of the Elite group, which means you're staying in the quarter where all the prestigious students stay." Oh no. "Why? I'm not rich or anything", I whispered. "Your sponsor made it clear that is where you'll be staying, nothing but the best for you." "Who is this sponsor?" I asked as we turned the corner. "You'll know eventually when they are ready to reveal themselves." We arrive at the registration area, there is a line with freshmen students waiting to collect their stuff, their luggage beside them. "I can't believe I'm here, I dreamt of this day since I was ten, and the day has finally come", a girl tells her friend. "We are gonna make these four years worth it. I hope we get to see our future alpha and beta often since we're in the same school as them", the other replies. "Of course, we will. We may be a lower rank than them, but for hall gathering, we'll all be in the same room." "I can't wait to start classes tomorrow, I heard our history professor is eye candy", the girls giggled. "Teenagers", miss Ella scoffs. "Bethany Yearwood", the woman calls, and I step in front of the line. She looks up at me and gasps, then bows her head, "good afternoon madam." "Good afternoon?" I frowned, confused as to why she bowed her head. "Control yourself, we are trying not to gain more attention than we're already getting", Miss Ella whispers. "Right, sorry Ms. Yearwood, here are your keys for your lockers and room and also your class schedule, any questions you know where to find me", she handed me a bunch of keys and paper. We leave the main building, exiting, through the back then go down a path, two minutes later another building comes into view. "This is where all the students are staying, but elite kids have their own special building with full-time staff and round-the-clock services, which means you can have breakfast here instead of the cafeteria like everyone else", Miss Ellas says to me. Wow. "Where is the building?" She leads me around the building and another one comes into view. It has a fountain and a small gateway to walk through. "Are you sure this is the right place for me?" "Watch your room key properly." I look at it, it's golden and the key itself has the word 'elite' on it. "That's enough evidence. Let's go. The sun is about to set and you still have to settle into your room." I glanced back at the other building, I saw a few people by the window looking at me with surprised expressions. "Let's go, the person in charge of staff would like to meet you." "Do we have to wear uniforms for dinner?" "Yes, only on weekdays until you retire to your rooms. On weekends you're free to eat in your rooms or outside." "Breakfast?" "It's up to you unless you're running late for class." We go through the gateway and go up a few steps. Miss Ella knocks on the door and it opens. "Welcome, Ms. Yearwood", the man bows. We stepped into the building. _____________
