Bethany's POV: I wake up the next day when the sun is shining through the balcony doors. Suddenly, the door opens and Linzey enters wearing running clothing and a pair of sneakers. "Good morning sleeping beauty, it's 7 am so get up and get ready, they serve breakfast at 7:30. Then it's off to class for the day." "Are we eating here or in the dining hall?" "Up to you, Duncan and I are having breakfast under our favorite tree, I'm sure you want the full experience", she shrugs. I'm not good at making friends, but I don't want to get attached to the elite kids either, so I'll have to try. "Evan is in three of your classes today, so you won't feel alone", she adds. "Really?" "Yeah, he said he was having breakfast with a few classmates in the dining hall, so I would hurry up if I were you and go meet him so he could show you where your first class is." I didn't want to intrude on his group, I'd just use the map. "You better go shower first, I will take a while in the bathroom", she chuckles. I nod and set up my uniform on my bed first then get my towel. "Also, the lake is accessible from 6 am if you ever want to go for a morning swim." 7:30 am I am on my way to the dining hall in my uniform, everyone is dressed a similar way, some are wearing school blazers while others are without them, mostly the guys. My hair is down in its natural waves. Our uniform consists of, for girls, a red plait-colored skirt that reaches right about the knees, a white shirt tucked in, a matching bow of the skirt, black blazers with the school's crest, black shoes, and high socks. For the guys, black pants, a white shirt, a red, long tie, and black blazers, the shoes are black. "Hey, you", someone calls out and I turn around, it's one of the guys from the elite group, he has curly brown hair and has on a Rolex watch on his right wrist. "Yes?" "You're the new girl?" I nod, not comfortable with the way people are watching us right now. "I'm Carl, Evan told me you're pretty, he's right", he smirks. "Thanks", I blushed. "See you at lunchtime and welcome to River Creek Academy. Stuck with us and you'll survive", he states, and leaves. I plan on doing the opposite. I enter the dining hall five minutes later and get in line for breakfast. I see Evan showing a few guys something on his Ipod as they all laugh. Two girls are talking ahead of me. "I heard Tyler has AP Biology this morning for the second period and I'm in that class." "No way", the other gasps. "Yes, but I wouldn't get a chance with him, he has his eyes set on Kortney", she sighs. "She isn't his mate. Haven't they all turned 18 already?" "Yes." "Then she isn't the future Luna." The line moves along as the two girls are busy talking to notice. "Excuse me, can you move up?" I interrupt. "Who do you think you are-", the girl stops when she turns to face me, she is staring at me or more like my face. The other one turns pale. "What?" "N- nothing", the first one shakes her head and leaves the line quickly grabbing her friend's arm along with the two trays. "But we didn't get anything to drink." "We'll go back, she's part of the elite group. Did you see the color of her eyes?" "It's exactly like Tyler's was. I thought there wasn't anyone else outside the Alpha's family with those colored eyes?" "Me too." Alpha? Like in the stories mom told me about? The leader of a werewolf pack? I move up the line, shrugging it off, I find a table and glance at the clock, 7:45 am. A few minutes later, I see Dylan enter with Carl and the name of a bronze-colored haired guy, whose name is Tyler. Three waiters are following behind them with trays. I bet that's their breakfast. Girls drool as they sit at their usual table, Evan waves at them as he continues to play on his Ipod with a few guys. I empty my trash into the trash can and place the tray with the other dirty trays just as Evan walks to the exit. It's already 8:05 am. I ran to catch up with him, "Hey Evan, where is the AP Biology?" "Oh, we got another smart kid on our hands?" One of the guys retorts. Aren't you supposed to have a good GPA to stay in a school like this? "Follow me, I'm on my way there. What class do you have today?" "After biology, its history, calculus, and geography, then study hall for an hour." "I have history and calculus as well", he states. We leave and go up a flight of stairs. "Do you know where your locker is? Most students leave their bags in it", he asks me. I glance down at my class schedule in my hand, it has my locker number and password. "Locker 154." "Second level, all freshman and sophomore lockers are on the first floor, ours are the second", he explains. There are a lot of students on the second floor, most by their lockers, while some enter classrooms. "My locker is right down the hall", he points. When I find my locker, I nod. As I take out my notebook and pens from my bag, a brown-haired girl approaches me, her skirt is a bit tight and a little shorter than average. "So you're the new addition to the elite students' group? I'm Avery." "Nice to meet-" "Let's make this clear you'll never to part of this group, you're even lucky to be human here", she sneers at me. "Actually-" "I'm not done. Evan wouldn't be interested in someone like you, so I'd ask to be transferred to another dorm if I was you before it's too late." "Are you even in the elite students' group?" I frowned. I don't recall seeing her inside the girls' quarter. "I'm popular that's close enough", she snaps. "Stop terrorizing the new girl Avery", a guy with the same color hair as her approaches us with a chuckle. "I'm not terrorizing her, I'm just welcoming her to the new school", she fakes smiles. "You can't fool me, I can see how scared she is." "As she should be, she doesn't belong here." "Excuse my twin sister, she had a personality change when she was five, my name is Asher", he introduced himself. "Nice to-" "Let's go Beth", Evan joins us, sparing the twins a side glance, "Levine." "Ashbluis", Asher says with a blank expression. I put my bag in my locket, shut it and we left. "Stay away from those two. They're nothing but trouble, especially Avery", he whispers. "Who's the captain of the boy's swimming team?" "Tyler, of course, Duncan would have been vice-captain but he already plays baseball and have additional training", he replied. We enter a classroom five minutes later, there are about fifteen students already seated behind a desk with two chairs each. "We do all the lab experiments here as well", Evan says to me. "Can I?" "No can do, I am already spoken to", he shakes his head and goes to sit next to a guy. I sigh and sit by an empty desk in the second row just as the teacher enters. I looked up at the clock, 8:20 am. "Good morning students, I'm Mrs. Lin your biology teacher for the next school year, welcome to AP biology, where all class assignments, quizzes, and group experiments will be graded, by the end of the term, I expect nothing below 3.5 GPA for this class", the teacher states. Wow, 3.5 and above. "Can you keep up with that new girl?" Someone snickers behind me. I ignored the person. A few students enter the class a few minutes later, Asher amongst them. Asher grins when he spots me and comes to sit beside me. "Fancy seeing you here." "Your partner for this class and the remaining school year is the person sitting beside you, greet your partner that will make or break you in this class", the teacher announces. Why me. "Well, hello partner", Asher smirks. I rolled my eyes and raised my hand. "Yes?" Mrs. Lin looks at me. "Can I switch partners?" "Yes!" A girl from the back shouts and I turn around, she is looking straight at Asher. He groans, "oh no." "If you're willing to swap partners then I have no problem", Mrs. Lin nods. The girl grins and Asher looks at me, "see you around new girl." He goes to the back of the class and the guy comes to my desk. "Hey, I'm-" "I don't need to know, you're part of the elite students' crew, we're not supposed to be associating outside of class", he cuts me off. Rude. "Well, we're in class now and I'm not part of the elite students' crew, I'm just a resident there." "Could have fooled me", he scoffs. "If you have a problem with them that's your business, I'm new here and you don't know me", I stated. "You're right. Well, if you're not part of the crew officially, I think we'll get along. The name's Ryder, first base on the baseball team." "Cool." He smiles. "Where are you from?" "Washington, DC." "Oh, far." Mrs. Lin begins class at 8:30 am sharp. **** I entered the cafeteria after my history class. Luckily, it was a bit interesting. I spot a few elite students at their table, Linzey, and Kourtney nowhere in sight. I see Ryder taking a seat by a table with a guy and a girl who look similar to him. "Hey Beth", Evan waves to me and calls me over to the table where he is. Most people are watching me. If I don't go, I'll technically destroy any reputation I have. I walked over to the table, "hey." "Hey Bethany, good to see you again", Carl smiled. "Have a seat, we don't bite", Evan jokes and pulls a chair out. "Thanks", Kourtney sat down, I pulled another chair and sat down as our lunches arrived. "Where are Linzey and Duncan?" Evan frowns. "Making out in some corner as usual", she scoffs. "And Tyler?" "Talking to the coach, what are we wearing on Saturday for the gathering?" She changed the subject. "Tomorrow I'm going into the city to get measured for my tuxedo", Carl states. "All the guys in our group are doing so. Do you have a dress, Beth?" Evan inquired. "Um.." "Yes she does", Kortney answers for me, "so be prepared to be blown away." "We can't wait to see it." I nod. I'm so nervous, what if they see right through me? _____________
