Rebecca ran back home and forgot about the meeting she had with Michael that day. She was panting when she reached home.
She took a shower, changed her clothes and went straight to bed.
It wasn't until the next morning that she remembered the meeting. The moment she thought of it, she felt guilty.
'He's probably going to be mad at me.' Rebecca thought. 'I really should have called him up,' she said as she picked up her phone and dialed his number.
"Hello?" Michael answered.
"Michael, I'm sorry for not calling you."
"No, no," he replied. "You don't need to apologize. It is my fault in this case."
"What do you mean?" She asked.
"Well, I didn't tell you to call me back if you are busy."
Rebecca started laughing. Michael joined in after a few seconds.
"Sorry," Rebecca apologized. "It just kind of slipped out."
They both laughed again.
"So what did you want to talk about?" Michael asked.
"Actually," Rebecca began, "I wanted to ask you something."
"Okay..." Michael replied.
"Do you think we could get together today? Just the two of us?"
There was silence on the other end of the line for a moment before Michael spoke.
"Why do you say that?"
"Because I wanted to ask you something," Rebecca replied.
"Oh... Okay. What is it?"
Rebecca paused for a while, unsure whether or not she should tell him what she wanted to ask.
But then she decided that she wouldn't mind having a conversation with him, even if it were just one-on-one. Rebecca's mum came inside. She asked Rebecca of the incident that happened to her yesterday. Rebecca tried lying to her, but her mum told her that she heard of how some werewolves chased her yesterday. She told Rebecca that she heard of it in the news this morning.
Rebecca panicked. She didn't know what to say.
"Don't worry, dear. Nothing's wrong," her mother said. "And, anyway, I am glad that you made it back safe."
Rebecca smiled and nodded. Her mother went away after telling Rebecca to take care of herself. Her mother told her that she would make sure that the incident will not happen again and she would deal with the werewolves.
Rebecca sighed relieved. But then, she felt guilty. Why did she feel guilty? After all, everything had been resolved already, right?
"Just do your best," Rebecca's mother whispered.
"Yes, ma'am," Rebecca replied.
Rebecca knew exactly who was responsible for causing such a problem.
Michael had called her last night to ask her to go to lunch at the park near their old school. Rebecca accepted the invitation eagerly, thinking that they would hang out like they used to during their college days. But when she arrived at the park, they were nowhere to be seen.
Werewolves have been living in the woods but sometimes they come in the city, attack some people and leave. There haven't been any deaths yet, thank God, and so far, there has been no trouble between the townspeople and the wolves. Rebecca couldn't help but wonder why they had left the pack. Werewolves aren't usually the type to run around outside and scare people. They don't even look like the kind to attack innocents.
After walking around for some time, Rebecca found an empty bench and sat down. When she did, she saw someone sitting beside her. The person turned and she realised that it was Michael himself. He was smiling as he looked at her, waving to her happily.
"Hey."
"Hey yourself," Michael greeted her.
She noticed that the smile was missing from his face.
"Are you alright?" She asked.
He didn't answer.
"Come on now," Rebecca insisted. "Tell me what's bothering you."
"Nothing," Michael assured her, looking away from her.
The silence between them grew longer and longer. Neither of them spoke a single word to each other, instead, they stared into space. Michael kept on staring. Rebecca felt that she wanted to know what it was that he was waiting for her to speak first. So, she decided to break the ice.
"Is there something else going on?" She asked gently.
Michael looked up again and nodded. "Yeah, there is." He hesitated for a moment. "Will you listen?"
"Of course."
"Well, I guess you've guessed by now. This whole situation is really confusing."
Rebecca nodded. Of course she had figured it out. And she couldn't wait to hear what happened.
"This afternoon, I met another wolf."
She waited for him to continue. He seemed hesitant as though he was expecting Rebecca to interrupt him. But she didn't. Instead she listened attentively. She needed to know what happened to cause him to be afraid of being alone in a place where he shouldn't be. She had learned that he didn't trust many people yet, and she still didn't know why. That must be a hard thing to learn; knowing that your trust issues were something that affected people around you. It made her feel angry and helpless all at the same time. Maybe she would learn to understand him better soon and stop feeling that way.
"I was talking to him," Michael continued. "He seems nice enough."
Rebecca wondered if she should ask if the werewolf was a good person. But she decided against it.
"He was saying a lot of things that I hadn't thought before about wolves. You see, most people find them annoying because they're aggressive and territorial. It's true though, that some wolves are very friendly, very caring towards humans. However, when they see that humans won't hurt them, they become hostile towards them. Some wolves even use violence to protect themselves and others can attack human beings."
"Did he attack you?"
"No." Michael shook his head and looked at Rebecca. "I didn't even notice at first. My heart was beating faster than normal and he was right beside me. I didn't even know that I had reacted like that." Michael chuckled bitterly.
"Anyway, I talked to him for a bit more and we eventually got along really well. We walked around for about twenty minutes. He told me how he came here and how he managed to survive so far."
"Survive?" Rebecca repeated. "How is that possible?"
"Well, he lives in the woods."
"In the woods?" Rebecca asked. "Like, he lives in the jungle or something?"
"Kind of, sort of."
Rebecca didn't know what to make of what Michael said.
"So, you mean that he's a wild animal?"
"Sort of."
"And he's living in the woods?" Rebecca asked.
"Yup."
"But you said that you met him today!"
"I did." Michael nodded. "When I left, he was already gone."
Rebecca stared at Michael and blinked her eyes.
"That's amazing," she muttered. "Why didn't you tell me earlier?"
"I wanted to." Michael shook his head. "I just didn't know how."
"You never know until you try, right?" Rebecca smiled.
"Right."
They were quiet for a while. Then Rebecca broke the silence. She told Michael that they have to be leaving for his house now.
"Alright," Michael agreed.
They stood up from the bench and started walking towards the exit. As they were walking, Rebecca asked Michael if he had eaten anything yet. He shook his head.
"So, what's there?" She asked, gesturing to the food stalls nearby.
Michael glanced at the stalls. A couple of people were buying food and placing it on the table. There was a stall selling hotdogs. Another one was offering hamburgers. A third one sold fried chicken. One of the sellers handed over a paper bag to a customer and Rebecca recognised that it was the same one that she had bought for her lunch. She had forgotten about it and she hadn't even taken a bite.
"Let's get something to eat," Michael suggested.
Rebecca smiled and followed him to the stall. She ordered four hotdogs and they both paid for it.
"Thank you," Rebecca said as the vendor handed them over.
As they walked back, Michael took out a bottle of water from his backpack. He opened it and offered it to Rebecca.
"Here," he said.
She took a sip. It tasted cold. She liked it.
"Thanks," she mumbled. They boarded a taxi that took them back home. When they reached Michael's house, Michael pushed Rebecca to the couch and sat on the floor with his legs crossed.
"Can I get you something to drink?" Michael asked.
"No, thanks." She replied, trying to refuse politely.
"Then I guess I'll just sit here for a while."
"Okay." Rebecca shrugged.
Michael sat in front of her and leaned forward. He placed his hands on her knees and started massaging them. He went slow and gentle at first, but the more he did so, the harder and faster he moved. Rebecca closed her eyes as he worked the knots out of her muscles. It felt wonderful and she found herself breathing heavier.
"Does that feel good?" Michael asked her.
Rebecca nodded.
"Mm-hmm."
"Good." His fingers pressed deeper into her flesh, making her gasp. "You seem tense."
"Yeah..." Rebecca breathed heavily.
Michael gave her thighs a light squeeze and Rebecca smiled. "Ooh, yeah..."
He kept doing so until Rebecca's entire body was tingling. All of the tension was gone, completely washed away, leaving only pure bliss behind.
"Thank you," Rebecca said softly.
"My pleasure." Michael grinned at her. "Now, let me do you."
Rebecca giggled. She looked down and saw that he was already sporting an erection. She blushed and averted her gaze.
"What's the matter?" Michael asked.
"N-Nothing," Rebecca answered quickly.
She didn't want to think about what she had seen. She also knew that Michael might have noticed too, which made her blush even more.
"Look at me," Michael commanded.
"Y-Yes..." Rebecca breathed.
"I'm not mad at you," Michael reassured her.
Rebecca exhaled. She forced herself to look at him again. He was smiling and looking at her intently. She felt that she could do anything in front of him and he wouldn't judge her.
"Now, take off your shirt."
Rebecca froze. She wasn't sure how to react. She knew that he wanted to do something to her but she wasn't sure if it was appropriate.
