Bearing weights Ethan sat in his office, the familiar hum of activity in the Brownies Organization building providing a backdrop to his thoughts. As the CEO, the responsibilities were vast, and the pressure of running a successful business weighed heavily on his shoulders. Yet, today, his mind was elsewhere, occupied by the looming wedding and his family's expectations. His thoughts were interrupted by the buzz of his office intercom. Davies, his assistant, spoke with his usual efficiency. "Ethan, your mother is here to see you."Ethan nodded, a fond smile touching his lips. "Send her in, Davies."A moment later, Diane Brown entered the office, her presence exuding warmth and elegance. Despite the years, she maintained a youthful energy that made her beloved by all who knew her. "Hello, darling," Diane greeted, crossing the room to embrace her son. "How are you holding up?"Ethan returned the embrace, grateful for her support. "I’m managing, Mom. It’s just…a lot."Diane studied him with a keen eye, her maternal instincts sensing his inner turmoil. "I know it’s not easy, Ethan. But you’re doing a wonderful job. Your father would be proud. "Ethan nodded, his expression softening at the mention of his late father. It had been two years since his passing, and the loss was still a tender wound. His grandfather's health had also declined rapidly after that, adding to the family's stress. "Have you heard from Bill?" Diane asked, taking a seat across from him.Ethan shook his head. "Not recently. He’s still wrapped up in his business overseas. I doubt he’ll make it for the wedding."Diane sighed, a hint of sadness in her eyes. "I wish he’d come home more often. But I understand he’s following his own path." "Yeah, Bill’s always been the free spirit," Ethan agree". "And Thomas is busy with the hospital. It’s mostly up to me to keep the family business going."Diane reached across the desk, her hand covering his. "You’ve done an incredible job, Ethan. I know your grandfather’s wish for you to marry is adding to the pressure, but I truly believe everything will work out for the best. "Ethan nodded, taking comfort in her words. His grandfather had always been a formidable figure in his life, a patriarch who valued tradition and family legacy. It was his dying wish to see Ethan married, hoping it would bring stability and joy back to the family. "I just want to make him happy," Ethan admitted, his voice tinged with determination. "And maybe, in time, I’ll find happiness in this marriage too."Diane smiled, her eyes filled with hope. "Madison seems like a lovely young woman. I think you two might surprise each other." Their conversation was interrupted by the arrival of Thomas, Ethan’s elder brother. Tall and charismatic, Thomas was a successful doctor who owned a renowned hospital. He entered the office with an air of confidence, a testament to his accomplishments. "Mom, Ethan," Thomas greeted, embracing his mother before turning to his brother. "How’s the groom-to-be?"Ethan managed a wry smile. "Trying not to lose my mind." Thomas chuckled, a teasing glint in his eyes. "Well, marriage is an adventure. You’ll do fine, Ethan. Just remember, communication is key." Ethan rolled his eyes good-naturedly, appreciating his brother’s advice. Despite their different paths, Thomas and Ethan shared a close bond, united by their love for family. As they caught up, Thomas shared updates about his own family, his wife and children thriving in their busy lives. Though married and settled, Thomas’s passion for medicine often kept him occupied, leaving Ethan to shoulder the responsibilities of the family business. After some time, Diane rose to leave, her gaze lingering on her sons with a mix of pride and nostalgia. "I’ll let you two have some brotherly time. Ethan, remember that we’re all here for you."Ethan nodded, grateful for his family’s support. "Thanks, Mom."As Diane left the room, Ethan turned to Thomas, a contemplative look on his face. "Do you ever regret not being more involved in the family business?"Thomas shook his head, a thoughtful expression in his eyes. "No, Ethan. I found my calling in medicine, just like Bill found his in business. But you…you were always meant to lead the Brownies Organization. And you’ve done an incredible job. "Ethan absorbed his brother’s words, feeling a sense of affirmation. Despite the challenges, he knew he was on the right path.Their conversation shifted to lighter topics, Thomas regaling Ethan with stories of his children’s antics and the latest developments at the hospital. The bond between them was a reminder of the strength of family, even as they navigated their individual lives. As the day wore on, Ethan found himself reflecting on his role in the family. The weight of legacy was heavy, but it was a burden he bore with pride. He was determined to honor his father and grandfather’s wishes, ensuring the Brownies Organization continued to thrive.Yet, amidst the responsibilities, a flicker of hope emerged—a belief that perhaps this marriage to Madison could bring unexpected joy and fulfillment. As evening fell, Ethan prepared for the next day’s events with renewed resolve. The wedding was fast approaching, a milestone that marked the beginning of a new chapter in his life.He glanced at the framed photograph on his desk, capturing a moment from his childhood—a reminder of the love and support that had shaped him.
