1621 Words
“The problem with having problems is that ‘someone’ always has it worse.”                                        - Tiffany Madison Imran's POV I was expecting the gatekeeper to deny me entrance, considering the time. Instead he let's me in, which felt like he was indirectly saying go into the Lion's den alone. I rang the doorbell again and that was the third time In a row with no respond. I stood thinking of all the possible bad things that could happened like getting punch on the face. This was a suicide mission. I let out a quiet laugh. I was about to reach for the doorbell the fourth time when the door swing open. I stood frozen on my spot observing him. Tall, brown skin color just like Arsala, dark hair, muscularly built with intimidating arms he and Arsala look so much alike. He has to be her brother. "How did you get in?" He ask looking towards the gate. "Can I help you?" "Ummm....I want.....no, no." I shake my head, I'm already messing this up. "You........" "I need to see Arsala. Please, I just want to be sure she is okay." I interrupt him. "Wait a second, I am supposed to know you?" He ask with a cold look on his face. "Imran, my name is Imran and I'm a classmate of hers." Classmate or friend, I'm still uncertain about which it is. "I admire you guts but no you can't." He slam the door at my face without giving me a chance to speak. Damn it! I can't go back without seeing her, I just can't. I impatiently tap the doorbell several times. The door swing open again, before me was her angry brother. "Get your a*s off my property or I would have to kick it off myself." If looks could kill, I'd probably be dead by now. "I just need to speak to her for 5 minutes and I'd be out of here." I said in a pleading tone. "She is fine, now get out!" The irritation in his voice is evident but I'm going no where till I see her. "She doesn't look fine to me, not after bleeding from her nose." "Wait what?.....She bled, through her nose?" His face suddenly turns pale. Which confirms my suspicious. "Yes at school.....today." Without a word from him, he ran into the house leaving the door wide open. Still I stood outside, I can't go in. After some minutes which felt like a decade, I could hear footsteps approaching me. "Come help me please!" Appearing before me is her brother carrying her in his arm. She is still bleeding from the nose again, this time the hoodie she on is covered in blood. I stood frozen unable to move or talk. My worst fear are coming into reality. "Heyy!" His voice snapped me back to reality. "Check her pulse....." "I already did....her pulse is faint..." His voice c***k. "CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), give her that." I blunt out, it the only thing I remember from med school. "I don't know how to give that." "Um......" "Do you have a car with you, I can't find my car keys and I........" "I have a car with me." I interrupt him, seeing the fear in his eyes it's hard to stay calm myself. "Okay........" We both rush out to where I parked my car. With everyone settled in, I drove as fast as I could to the hospital he instructed, Boshang hospital. The moment we got to the hospital he rushed her in while I stay back to find a parking spot. I finally did and without wasting time I walk into the hospital. It wasn't hard to find him since the hospital wasn't packed with people. I spot him impatiently pacing up and down the hallway. I took a seat, debating if I should ask him what's wrong with Arsala or not. "Hey.......Imran right......thank you." His facial feature looks tired and restless. That makes two of us, I just hope I get to see her radiant smile or hear her laughing again. "I just want her safe you know." I'm ferociously tapping my feet on the floor. I do this when scared or nervous which I am. "And she would, you should get going your parent might be worried." He sits beside me. I let out a bitter chuckle. "They actually don't care." The word parent, I distaste the word a lot. I have the worst set of parent, they care about wealth and prestige than they ever did for me or my siblings. "What do............" "What's wrong with Arsala?" I interrupt him. Talking about my parent reminds me of the huge hole in my heart. "She was in an serious car accident some years back and suffered a concussion. At time that was the cause of her nose bleed." He let out an exhausted sigh. We both sat in silence, a comfortable one rather. My mind is filled with thoughts of Arsala. "How close are you with my sister?" He asks, I'm taken aback by the question. I stay silent for a minute, trying to choose my words carefully. "We are just friends." I felt like the word didn't just escape my mouth. "I don't believe that.......do you like her?" There is a cold edge in his voice. "Wait what.......no!!" I have only know Arsala for a short while, so having an intimate feeling towards her is absurd. I like her personality and that's it, I feel nothing else for her. "I need you to be sure with your emotions, I don't want anyone toying with her. Showing open at my doorstep some minutes to 9pm says otherwise." His eyes are fixated on me and his face bears a serious look. "Trust me......I'm in love with someone else." I felt the unsureness in which the words escaped my lips. I have been with Olivia for the past four years and our relationship has been more like a on and off kind of relationship. We don't agree on a lot of things, we are quite the opposite of each other's personality. The only thing we agree on is satisfying each others s****l desire. But I love her, I'm sure of that, right? Ain't I. "If you say so." He drop the topic. After some minutes of total silence.  "The CPR thing, where did you learn that from?" He asks, Its obvious he is trying to start up a conversation with me. "Well I started out as a medical student, I spent a year there before I realized it wasn't something I enjoyed. So I switch to engineering." Studying medicine was something my parents imposed on me. I had the brain yes but the passion was never there. "What engineering?" "Civil engineering." "That's a good one there." A smirk form at the edge of his lips. "Thanks......" "Actually I like you.........I mean I thought all guys from her school would be nothing but spoilt brats." He chuckles softly. "But you are different." "Ummm......" "Its a 5 years course, so when are you graduating?" "This.......semester actually." I can't help but feel a little sad. "So you graduate in a few months?" "Yes.........." I cut myself short when I spot a doctor approaching us. "How is she?" The worried look on Haider's is back on. "She is  now stable. Blood pressure and heartbeats are normal." The middle age doctor reply him. "But I need to ask you a question if you don't mind?" The doctor's attention is on Haider. "Yes sure whatever you need." He gives the doctor his undivided attention. "Do you by any chance know if she received any blow to the head lately?" Removing the stethoscope off his neck he ask. Haider stare into air trying to think. "Not that I know of." "The CT scan I ordered shows there are no internal bleeding or swelling of the brain. But I got her blood tested and it show that she is under a serious amount of caffeine and aspirin." "Coffee she takes that a lot." I interject. I have seen her with coffee several times In maths class. "Explains the excess amount of caffeine in her blood. Ensures she stays away from it at least for the time being same goes with the aspirin. She needs rest, she is also suffering from fatigue." The doctor who goes by the name Luke, which is clearly written on his name tag is issuing out precautions in a serious tone. "Is she going to be okay?" He ask, His voice filled with concern. The doctor gave us both an reassuring smile. "Yes, she just need rest." "Can we see her now." I ask, I want to be sure she is okay. "She is asleep for now and won't be up anytime soon." He stretch out his hand to Her brother for a handshake. "Thank you doctor." He gladly accept the handshake. "You're welcome, don't forget to get her medication from the pharmacist." He say before excusing himself. "Umm............" "You can go in to see her, after which no excuses you're going home." He interrupts me. He is granting me my wish. It was as if he just read my mind before I said what I had in mind. "Thank you so much man." I couldn't contain my excitement. "You're most welcome." He smile a bit. "Now go see her before I change my mind." His voice bears a playfully edge. I took only a few steps before I remember I had no idea what her room.... "Ward......." "Six, by your left." He interrupt me, knowing the question I wanted to ask. "Thank you." I whisper to him before walking off. . . . . . .
