Two months later
“Sir, we have searched everywhere for her and we just couldn't find her,” Jacob’s private investigator informed him.
“No, no. I don't believe you,” Jacob responded, his teeth clenched together in suppressed frustration. “I wouldn't accept that. I paid for your services because I believe that you are one of the best around. You can't just give me inconclusive information after I have waited so long for a response.”
“Sir, with all due respect, you are acting troubled,” the man responded. “Are you sure that you are not in some problem? Why is this even important to you anyway?”
“Bullsh!t!” Jacob gnarled, his nostrils flared with a dangerous swell of anger. “What makes you think that I am troubled? You are a private investigator and I paid for your services. I expect nothing less than a positive response and not you asking me why anything is important.”
“Sir, I’m sorry but I think you should take a breather,” The man suggested calmly.
Jacob, with a burst of tension, darted towards the private investigator seated by the other side of the round table. His knuckles were white with rage as his hands gripped the other man’s shirt with a savage force, yanking him off his chair.
“How dare you talk to me like that? I invited you to my office and you are rude to me? Are you crazy? You had better find Amelia for me or death would be the least of your worries.”
The investigator’s face was a mask of horror as his body shook with the sudden realization that something strange had happened to Jacob. Whoever the Amelia woman was, she had to have been so important to him, he reasoned.
Two men burst into the room amid the commotion, their footsteps thundering on the floor as they struggled to restrain Jacob who was going to strangle the investigator.
The investigator’s face was pale with fear as he freaked out and ran out of the room. Jacob also signalled for the two men who were his subordinates to let him be.
Jacob’s gaze shifted to the floor the moment he was alone in the office room. He recognized the enormity of his mistake and his chest heaved with guilt and shame.
It dawned on him that he had not been the same since Amelia left him two months ago. He was always very upset anytime he came home and found it empty. There was no one to welcome him. The lovely smile that Amelia used to flash him was missing in his life. Oftentimes, it felt like there was a huge hole in his heart that no one else but Amelia could fill.
His shoulders slumped with defeat as he pounded his fist and punched the ground repeatedly in regret. The scars of his regret were written all over his face.

Amelia was the talk of the city as she returned after five years with a lot of people having her name on their lips. She spent five years outside the country to grow her craft as a fashion designer and now that she had returned to the city, everyone wanted to listen to her - she was a celebrity.
She was known as the brain behind the popular Pingles Aesthetic Design and everyone wanted to interview her.
Amelia’s heels clicked against the pavement, her steps quick and urgent as she glided through the increasing crowd of reporters who were so bamboozled by her elegance that they couldn't go too close to her as they normally would.
Amelia was nothing like what she used to be five years ago.
She wore a gorgeous silver gown that shone with little diamonds carefully designed at intricate spots of the gown. The dress hugged her curves in a way that highlighted her feminine shape. A dazzling diamond necklace draped around her neck, a perfect compliment to her sparkling gown.
The tone of her skin highlighted a healthy glow as she moved with a graceful elegance, gliding across the floor with the poise of a queen.
Her best friend, Selene took her away from the crowd of reporters before they sandwiched her. Her face was beaming with a smile and her eyes danced with a mischievous delight, laughing in a playful expression.
“What’s that smile, Selene?” Amelia asked. “I know that smile. You are definitely up to something.”
Selene was even more flirtatious with her smile as she rushed to hug Amelia in the atmosphere of excitement. “Haha, I am just really happy for you, Amelia. This deal is massive, you are going to be the private designer for Rodele Couture. You deserve this babe.”
Rodele Couture was one of the top companies in the state and Selene had been a huge pioneer for Amelia in making sure that she was at the pinnacle of her abilities in her designing craft. Many companies had sent offers to Amelia to sign a contract that would make her their private designer but she chose Rodele Couture much to Selene’s pleasure.
“You know I hear that the CEO is also one of the handsome big guys you know?” Selene winked in a flirtatious manner. “Who knows what might happen? I mean, the CEO kept bombarding you with private messages so who knows he may be in for more than just the brains, haha.”
Amelia’s lips flushed a rosy pink, an embarrassed smile tugging at the corner of her lips. “Come on, Selene. My stance remains the same - no relationships for now.”
“It's been five years already, Amelia. You need to move on past everything that happened. You are a hot lady right now and rich men are after you like flies,” Selene spoke with delight. “This CEO guy also happens to know your Wh*****p number so it seems he dug deep to get you to sign for his company. Just saying you know.”
Just at that moment, a black Mercedez-Benz Mayback stopped in front of them.
Selene’s breath caught in her throat as she spoke excitedly. “This must be the CEO babe. I’ll call you later to know how it goes.”
A huge-looking man in a suit and dark glasses soon came out of the luxurious vehicle and escorted Selene into the vehicle. “Right here, Ma’am. The CEO can't wait to see you.”
Selene was ushered into the impressive atmosphere of the vehicle.
She soon lost her breath for a moment and her face drained of color when she saw the man seated just opposite of her in the backseat of the car assumed to be the CEO.
“Jacob?!” She muttered, her eyes wide with shock.
