Confusing Emotions

Louis stole another glance at Jordan as they walked into the house. It had been a hectic day at work and Jordan had spent the entire day attending all sorts of meetings. This was why Louis hadn't been able to tell him anything about the girl. It was even surprising that Jordan hadn't asked. "All I need now is a cold shower and a good sleep." Jordan rubbed his neck wearily. "Perhaps, a good s*x would help out too." "Won't you be seeing the girl? It's been a day now." Louis informed. Surprisingly, he was worried about the girl despite all she had done. After all, she was only a girl and he could understand how she was feeling. "What girl?" Jordan raised a brow, his face furrowed with confusion. "The ginger head you asked that I locked." "Oh!" Jordan let out. "That's true." "She has not been given any food or water as you ordered. How long do you intend to keep her there?" "It depends." Jordan smiled, the side of his lips turning up. Louis watched him, desiring to ask what it depended on but he decided to keep quiet instead. Jordan would either take his curiosity as being rude or ignore him. "Lead the way!" Jordan said and Louis nodded, walking ahead as they retraced their steps to the dungeon. Why the Gomez family had a dungeon still baffled Louis but he had grown to understand that some things were meant to be kept a secret, and a guard shouldn't ask too many questions, lest he raises suspicion. Pushing the iron door open, Louis brought out his torch so Jordan would see through the darkened room. There she was lying on the dirty floor with her head buried in her elbow. But the moment she heard the creaking of the door, she sat up, her eyes narrowing into slits as she glowered at them. Her lips were parched and a part of her face was covered with dust. Her hair fell over her shoulders, some strands falling across her face making her look like a wild cat. Her blue dress was now dirty due to her lying on the floor. In a nutshell, she looked like a mess. Melissa, on the other hand, felt nothing short of hatred the moment she set her eyes on the two people who had made her life hellish. Just a week ago, she had been living a good life and suddenly, it was all gone, snatched away by these two men standing before her. Melissa was beyond pissed and she wanted nothing but to drive a knife into both of their chests. She hated them. She couldn't tell who she hated most but she hated them both. As they approached her slowly, Melissa balled her hands into a fist, her eyes watching their every move. "Hi, baby." Jordan finally stopped a foot away from her, stooping to her eye level with a small smile on his face. "How was your night?" Melissa felt her anger increase the moment those words left his mouth. Of course, it was clear he was just mocking her because there was no way she could have had a good night's rest in this scary and abandoned room. Her night had been terrible and she had been unable to sleep. She kept waking up each time she felt she heard any movement. It was now known to her that she had some roommates sharing the room with her and she had fallen into an uneasy sleep while on the lookout for those creatures. Melissa could still remember how she had screamed her lungs out when she had felt a hairy creature climbing her leg. It had been a big rat, bigger than any she had seen in her life and it looked vicious. It reminded her of the eyes of Jordan. Those dark vicious eyes of his were similar to that of the rat. There were also cobwebs everywhere and they made Melissa sick. "Why will you lock me in this hell hole?'" She shouted at the top of her voice as she held his gaze. Perhaps, she would have been scared to do so if she had been in her right mind but there was no way anyone would spend the night in this prison and remain sane. "Why will you dump garbage on me? Do I look like a trash can to you?" He bit back, his brows furrowing as the thought of the previous day came flooding into his mind. It was now clear that he couldn't get rid of that sickening thought. It still brought shivers down his spine and he felt disgusted all over. "You really are a trash can." Melissa retorted, her eyes glazing over as she held his gaze. The frown on his face had now deepened and Melissa could see that he was now getting furious. But she didn't stop because she was furious herself. She had barely slept a wink the previous night and she was madly hungry. She felt dehydrated and the smell of rustiness added to making her sick. This was all his fault. "If you weren't a trash, you would know how to treat a lady. You wouldn't lock a lady in this godforsaken place. You wouldn't raise your hands to assault a lady. You know nothing about being a gentleman. You're just a rogue. A thug. A monster. You shouldn't be in that suit but a psychiatric hospital." She yelled, reaching out to drag the black tie around his neck but he was quick enough to hold her hand. "A lady?" He breathed. "Did you just call yourself a lady?" The veins on his forehead were now popping out as his dark eyes darkened. "Are you now so dumb to see that I'm a lady?" Melissa struggled to get her arm out of his grasp but he held still. "You're a slave!" He spat, a light chuckle falling off his lips. "You're nothing but a slave. My slave!" "I'm not your slave. The fact that my mum owes you money doesn't make me a slave. This is illegal and I'll make sure you're punished for this." "Your naivety and ignorance entertain me." Jordan finally released her arm, only to cup her face in his big palm. Melissa turned to the side, her face falling from his palm. He smirked. "Do you think I kept you here because you can't pay the debt you owe? Of course not! You are here because of your mother. You wouldn't be here if your mother hadn't sold you to me." "What?" Melissa's head swiped around to look at him, a gasp escaping her lips. What was he talking about? "You heard me right. Your mother sold you to me. That's why you're here." Jordan reiterated with that sardonic smile on his face. He seemed to be enjoying this too much. Melissa stared at him, her jaw-dropping as she tried to comprehend all that was being said to her. Her mother had sold her off? That didn't make any sense. Why would her mother do such a thing to her? "You're just making things up." Melissa finally said and Jordan broke into a long laugh. "You see why I said your ignorance humours me?" Jordan asked, turning to look at Louis who had been quiet all along. Melissa had even forgotten he was in the same room with them. "She thinks I'm making things up." He told him and the bearded man shook his head at her. "Do her the honour of telling her what happened," Jordan said and Louis nodded. "It is obvious your mother can't pay her debt so she decided to sell you off as a slave to Jordan Gomez to pay off her debt. That's why you are here. Why do you think she hasn't come for you since? It's because she doesn't own you anymore. You're Jordan's now. So do not blame anyone but your mother." Louis explained. "What?" Melissa's heart squeezed at that and she flinched outwardly like she had been physically hit by someone. How could this be? Was this what Louis had meant when he told her her mother was the reason she was here? Or was this why her mother had done nothing but shed tears when she had been dragged away? Now that she was thinking about it, her mother had asked Louis if there was another way. Was this the reason? Melissa's already dried mouth ran even drier as she found it difficult to swallow. Her heart was hurting badly. Why were all these happening to her? Why was she getting betrayed by everyone she trusted? How could her mother sell her off even when she had promised to pay all her debt? Was this how little she meant to her mother? Did she even mean anything to her? Melissa's eyes were welling up and she tried to stop the tears from forming. She had hidden her tears perfectly from everyone and it would be very downgrading if she allowed a tear to fall in front of Jordan. She knew it would fuel his already big ego and that was the last thing Melissa wanted. She would die before she did that. But she was hurting; she was hurting really bad and she was hungry, thirsty, and tired. How then could she stop her tears when she wanted nothing but to drown in her tears? "So you see." Jordan's deep gruff voice broke the silence. With the way they had both watched her in silence, it felt like they had waited for their words to sink into her head. "Your mother is nothing but a greedy person who doesn't give a f**k about you. You need to see the way she quickly offered to sell you off. You mean nothing to her!" "Why did you accept me? You don't need a slave. You have millions of maids and labourers working for you. If you let me out now, I'll pay you back all she owes. I'll get a job. . .no! Two jobs. Even three. I'll do anything to pay you your money so just freaking let me go!" Melissa hit her balled fist on the dirty floor, exhausted from this topic and wanting nothing but to leave. Her tears had now fallen to her cheeks and she lowered her head in embarrassment and fury. "I don't need a slave but I took you because I wanted to see you this way. Helpless. It gives me pleasure." She heard Jordan say and she shook her head. "You're sick in the head! Go to a f*****g psychiatric hospital and get treated!" She spat and Jordan's eyes darkened with pure fury. "Don't forget who I am." "A freak, right?" She sneered. "Mind your f*****g tone or I'll f**k you up!" Jordan dragged her hair, gripping the strands tightly. Melissa bit her lips in pain, more tears dropping to her cheek against her wish. Jordan smirked at this. "I know what to do to put you in your f*****g place. I'm gonna make you my maid and then, I'll be able to deal with you the way I want." Jordan blurted out before she could even speak. The girl was driving him crazy with her attitude and he wanted nothing but to subdue her. He wanted to wipe that arrogance from her eyes and make her beg for his mercy. "Take her to the head maid and make sure she becomes my personal maid!" He told Louis, still holding onto Melissa's long hair. "I need her in my room in no time." Melissa shut her eyes tightly, trying to feel numb to her pains, but more tears dropped onto her cheeks and Melissa felt pathetic. Suddenly, she broke into a sob, her shoulders shaking as her tears kept falling profusely from her eyes. Jordan released her hair immediately, his eyes widening as he stared at her. She had burst into tears suddenly that it had shocked him. Just some minutes ago, she had been throwing daggers at him through her eyes and now, she was crying. It was all too strange and Jordan watched her quietly, puzzled about what to do. He didn't even know how to feel about her tears. He had thought he would be glad to see her cry but surprisingly, seeing her cry didn't bring about the satisfaction he had thought he would have. Instead, it shook something in him. He was feeling strange and he wondered why. Meanwhile, Melissa wanted to die from the embarrassment of crying in the presence of the two men she hated so much. Never in her wildest dream did she think she would be in this position. It irritated her and it was even more pathetic that she couldn't stop herself from crying. Was it the immense hunger that was gnawing at her stomach or was it because she was sleep-deprived? Why was she crying this much? Jordan watched the crying girl for a moment, his heart feeling strange things as he looked at her. He could not describe the way he was feeling as he watched her cry but he knew he didn't like it. He didn't like seeing her cry. But why? Confused at his emotions, Jordan turned and walked out of the dark room, the sobs of the ginger head echoing in his ears as he walked out.
