Chapter 2

Her amber eyes met his gunmetal eyes. As if, the Devil found his Queen.  He stared at the little woman in burqa whose glistening eyes were stuck on his large manly frame.  Ashrah was in a state of shock. She was terribly astounded by her brother's brutal death. She was not screaming, not even crying as if she had lost her voice. The fear badly clutched her heart, that's why she could not even move in her place.  “Bhai, we have to go!” Aezaj said his name to grab his attention from that poor girl.  But he didn't respond to his call as if he examined the intruder.  “Bhai,” Aezaj nudged him, “We have to get out of here before somebody gets inside.”  It's not like they were trying to escape from others. Though they didn't have to fear anyone, he didn't want to create another scene. Their job was done. So it's good to leave the place.  They don't have to fear anyone. Because they're the part of the most dangerous mafia in the country. They could walk in front of them, if they wanted to. Nobody dares to raise a finger against them, especially Adham Marwan. Who would like to see their deaths? “Bhai,” this time Aezaj succeeded to get his attention.  Adham looked at him with a questioning look. “Let's get out of here first, leave that girl.” Aezaj said.  Adham merely gave a nod. He looked down at the lifeless body of Ahmed to make sure if he reached hell. After confirming himself, he stalked towards the exit followed by Aezaj. Before getting out of there he spared a glance at the frightened girl.  *** It's almost midnight when he came to his home. After sending Ahmed to his right place, he went to his godfather. He had been with him the entire time when the funeral was held. He was angry with himself for not saving his bride. It's not like he did love Husna. It's his ego hurt at its peak. Because he was ashamed before all the people were not having his wedding. The great Adham Marwan failed to save his bride. That's a big shame in their mafia world.  As he was striding towards his room Zariyah called him from behind him.  “Adham.” He didn't stop there and did not even turn to look at the person who called him.  “Adham!” Zariyah called out.  “What the hell are you screaming?” Adham shouted not even thinking she was his mother.  “Mind your language. I am your mother.” Zariyah said as if warning though she knew that he wouldn't take her words.  “The hell I care.” He scoffed.  She knew that talking to him was not a fair thing. It would always bring her to the edge where she lost her control. And that would lead to another fight between mother and son.  After taking a deep breath she continued, “That really doesn't matter now. Whether you care about what I say or not. But I do care about everything about you.” That's indeed a fact. Because she was his mother.  “But I don't need your f*****g care and love. And don't try to get into my life ever. Because you have no rights!” He said curtly as if the words were like swords.  “I have no rights?” Zariyah was suppressing the urge to cry as his unkind words deeply cut her heart.  “How can you say this? I am your mother. If you are staying here, it's just because of me. I gave birth to you--” Before she could even complete what she wanted to say he interrupted.  “That's the only reason I hate you.” He shouted, causing his raspy voice to flow in the thick silence. “Just because of that f*****g reason sometimes I hate even myself.” His face could tell he really meant it.  “Ad-Adham--” Her voice cracked.  “Yes, I do hate you from my heart because you let that man ruin your life.” He said straight looking into her eyes. “If you didn't marry him, I would not be born in his blood.” The hate and venom spitting out of his mouth.  “You are blaming me for what your father did to me.” She couldn't help but ask.  “That manwhore is not my father!” He said as if it was the truth but it wasn't, “He will never be.”  Zariyah regretted her decision to talk with him. She had already known that their talk would end up like this.  “I wish I could remove all traces of him in my body but it's impossible for me to do otherwise I would have done it.”  She was quiet as she had known there was no room for her to talk against him. He was taking out his pain in such a way that he knew. Nobody deserves a father like Shazman. She knew that he was right in his point. It's her fault. Adham did notice his mother's silent tears that made him stop. He really hates himself for making her cry. It's a kind of weakness which hurts him in the corner of his heart, but he always hides it.  “For me Shazman Marwan is an enemy.” He made his statement before walking away from a crying woman.  Meanwhile, Muzaira was in his bedroom, lying in his bed weaving a wild dream which she wanted to make true for a while.  Muzaira came to his home when she was only thirteen years old. Since then, she had been living as a sister of Adham. But now she wanted to change the title from sister to wife.  And she knew that today she could make her dream true as he was completely disappointed in his tragic wedding.  She walked towards the mirror and admired herself. She was sure that all his control would be lost today before her sexy body.  As she was adjusting her clothes she heard the door open.  “Adham bhai!” She couldn't control the excitement.  He raised his eyebrow in confusion, “What are you doing here?” He didn't expect her this time.  “I was waiting for you.” She said walking towards him moving her hips more than enough.  “For what?” He didn't hide the dislike in his tone. “Adham bhai, you think I won't look after you.” She said pouting her lips. “I always do. Perhaps you didn't heed.”  “I never asked you to look after me. And I will not because I did not bring you here for that.” Adham made it clear.  “But what I can do, my life is devoted to you. I place your needs above my own.” Her fingers danced around the buttons in his shirt. “That's why I am here now, to fulfil your needs...” “Stop.” He held her hand.  “Why? Don't you like this?” She asked in a low voice.  “Get out of here now.” He said and walked towards his bed.  “Adham bhai,” “I need to sleep.” He said he didn't want to shout at her.  “I know you're disturbed with today's unexpected events.” She came to his side to convince him. “Even I feel pity for Husna. But what we can do. It's fate.” She tried to act as hurt.  “But you don't have to feel bad for your wedding night, if you want we can...” “Muzaira!” He yelled.  “When I was taking you here I had promised you something that, do you remember or forget about it?” He asked. “But I do always remember my words because my words are my promises.” “I had promised you that I would take care of you, protect you and fulfill your wishes like your brother.” She lowered her head, not having the courage to meet his eyes. “Like your brother, Musharraf Karim.” Musharraf was one of his best men who had lost his life while saying Adham in an attack. After his death, Adham took the responsibility of his sister, Muzaira. “You are aware of one thing that I won't raise my hands against women. But that doesn't mean it's my weakness. Because I never consider a woman as equal to me.” “But--” he raised his hand to shut her mouth.  “So it's better to stay away from those unwanted thoughts.” He said as if a warning.  She walked out disheartened and closed the door behind her. But she was not going to stop it right here, “If Adham Marwan has a woman in his life, it will be this Muzaira Karim. I won't let any b***h to steal my place. It's my promise.” *** It's raining slightly as if the sorrow of the Shad family. All residents were gathered here for Ahmed's funeral, leaving the whole town drowning in the silence.  Ahmed's father, Amir Shad, was sitting beside his dead body, whimpering in the loss of his only son. And beside him, Rihanna; Ahmed's mother was sitting. Her only pride was gone leaving them all behind in the deep hole of pain.  While, Fariyah was at the opposite end, crying on somebody's shoulder for her beloved husband's death. At last, Ashrah who's sitting far away from the family for creating as much as distance from them. She hadn't even known, for how many hours she had been crying? Her brother was dead before her eyes, but she couldn't even do anything to save him. She felt ashamed of herself for being a sister. Even though they hadn't shared a good sister-brother relationship. She couldn't control her pain. Whatever happened between them, Ahmed was her brother that couldn't be changed.  Amir head shot up to the sight of the man who was striding towards them. It's none other than Adham Marwan.  Adham came to the dead body and looked down at the man who he had sent yesterday. Aezaj placed a wreath on his body and stood beside his brother.  Amir didn't miss the smile which touched Adham's lips as he won the second time. His teeth ground and clenched jaw as he was controlling himself not to lash out at him.  Adham smirked at the old man.  “He killed my bhai!!!” Ashrah yelled out of the blue.  Everyone's eyes shot up to her.  “He killed my bhai...” She repeated pointing her finger at him.  “Ashrah,” Rihanna whispered. She badly wanted to shut her daughter's mouth for screaming.  “Ammi, he killed our Ahmed, I saw that with my eyes.” Ashrah tried to clarify that but it stopped when her mother yelled at her.  (Ammi-mother) “Shut up Ashrah!” Rihanna came to her and held her by her arm and hushed in her ear, “Don't act your drama here.”  “Ammi!” Ashrah looked at her astoundingly.  “Baba,” Ashrah cried out. (Baba- Father) “Take her inside!” Amir yelled.  Rihanna took her inside as she was told by him. Ashrah didn't know why they hadn't even heard her. Why? Didn't they love their son? Adham stared at the young girl who dared to raise her voice against him. Why? Didn't she hear about him?  Nobody said a word against him, not even the Shad family, as the strong accusation came from Ashrah. Because nobody wanted to see their deaths in front of their doors.  Adham walked to the old man and hugged as a formal condolence.  “Now two of the Shad are finished. And next you.” Adham pulled away from the hug after muttering in his ears.  Amir's bloodshot eyes stared at him, he could see the revenge still burning in him as fresh.
