The Legend of Dragon Slayer

We are in the far and secluded North, specifically in the little kingdom of Miltand. It is the last days of autumn and the first snowflakes are beginning to fall and an elderly man shows a two-colored beard between black and white at the height of his chest. he wears a brown bearskin coat carrying a reindeer on his shoulders as he descends a slightly steep rocky slope while leaning on a branch for stability. This man is Olnin father of Jonas who returns to his home after an arduous day of hunting. Olnin comes to a valley and is struck by a strange rectangular-shaped ice formation with innumerable peaks at the edges, mostly pointing straight ahead. "But what about this thread here! ... if there is still not enough cold for the water to freeze like this. Besides its shape ... how strange it is " The man meditates for a few seconds about the origin of this peculiar ice formation and the only thing he manages to relate it to is the mythical ice-spitting dragon legends that his mother told him when he was a child. But he dismisses that idea since he had never in his long life encountered such creatures. "They are just children's stories ... something like this is impossible ... I had better continue on my way than I am going to achieve nothing trying to discover the origin of this ice" he says to himself in a low voice and continues his journey. The road to the base of the mountain where the small town where he lives with his family is located is extremely steep but it is not a problem for him since he has traveled it hundreds of times and could practically walk it with his eyes closed. As soon as he arrives at the town, everyone he crosses welcomes him to the county and praises him for his hunting loot, which is a reindeer of considerable size, but it is not difficult for this man to transport it since he is someone remarkably large. He arrives at his house which is a rustic abode with stone walls and a hay roof, the first thing that is heard as he approaches is the sound of an ax chopping wood in the backyard to which he immediately goes. There he meets his son Jonas, about eighteen years old, who is chopping the wood for the fire. "I see you're finishing ... you're really fast at cutting firewood" mentions the father as he drops the body of the reindeer on a table that they usually use to dismount the animals they hunt- Jonas says impressed what his father hunted "Impressive what you have caught today dad ... although it is not surprising of the best hunter with the bow in this town" he says after putting aside his ax and leaning over to touch the animal. Olnin proudly replies "Ha ha ha ... you exaggerate because I am your father ... you know very well that there are more men here who are as good or better as me at hunting" "Well if you say so I will not upset you. Better get ready to prepare this for dinner because it is going to get dark shortly and I'm going to finish with the little bit of firewood that I have left " The father takes out a knife that he always carries with him and he is extremely affiliated to begin removing the skin and bones of the reindeer with commendable skill and dexterity, something typical of an experienced hunter. It doesn't take long for him to finish, he washes his hands and asks his son about his mother, who replies that she is in the kitchen preparing dinner. Olnin enters his humble home and the first thing he does is give his wife a hug from the back, who can't help but be frightened by surprise "There ... Olnin dear ... what a scare you have given me!"
