Calliope Everyone was busy in the palace and I was in my room. Of course, they were all running around to welcome the new Luna as Ragnar had made sure that everywhere was beautifully decorated for the return of the woman carrying his child. I never planned to step out of my room and I was faring alone peacefully. When I heard a loud knock on my door, I winced and at first, I did not want to reply to the person, but whoever it was, was so persistent and the knocks got louder. I groaned and I slowly got out of bed, walking to the door. “f*****g keep it down.” I hissed on seeing that it was Ragnar. Hell, he still had the guts to show his f*****g face in front of me. I wanted to leave. I had a pack of my own. ShadowCrest and it was ruled by my mother. I lost my father and brothers to this same war that was going on and then I married Ragnar. My marriage was very peaceful at first, and Ragnar and I barely spent time together as he kept going on and off because of the war. Who knew that he was screwing Thalia? “Come out.” “And why should I?” I scoffed and then I glared hard at him. “We are no longer mates and I'm willing to leave you alone to enjoy your new wedded life. Can you just leave me alone?” I was on the verge of begging but Ragnar had a cruel look on his face. “That would be over your dead body. Now, Move while I'm talking to you.” He growled at me, and then he suddenly clamped his hand around my wrist as he roughly dragged me out of my room. “Ragnar,” I called, trying to release myself from his hold, but he held me even tighter and he began to drag me through the hallways. “You are too stubborn for f**k sake. You keep running your dirty mouth. You keep forgetting that I'm the Alpha and that I can punish you anytime I want. You will keep that mouth shut and cone with me.” I winced and his hold was harsh as he dragged me straight downstairs. There were people around as he, of course, conducted a welcoming ceremony for his wife. “Rag—” My voice trailed off when he dragged me straight to the stage and everyone that was around diverted their gaze to us. “I'm so glad that you all have honored my invitation.” He spoke, his voice loud as everyone went quiet. My eyes landed on Thalia who was standing with Romana, my supposed mother-in-law. And they both looked so close. “You all must be wondering why I suddenly called for this meeting. It's to honor my beautiful bride and wife, Thalia.” His face was full of smiles, his hold on me still tight. “And you must be wondering what will happen to her now.” He regarded me with disregard. “She is not fit to be a Luna and lacks in all areas. Thalia is what Calliope will never be. Adventurous, strong, beautiful and smart. She is also pregnant with my pup.” The crowd erupted in cheers at his words and I had never been so humiliated in my life. I already had enough of his words, so I used all my strength to snap my hand away from his. “I hate you.” I blurted out through gritted teeth and then I began to walk away from Ragnar. I walked past the people who looked at me with sneers and just made my way out in anger. I had just stepped out of the room when I heard my name. I turned to see Thalia with Romana. “Why did you leave like that? The party was just getting started.” She was trying to mock me. “I don’t attend parties where cheats are. It’s suffocating. And you too? Mother?” I was in total disbelief that Romana supported her son. I was close to her, so where did it go wrong? “What? Thalia is obviously better than you and is even carrying my grandchild. Don’t try to act like a victim.” she hissed and I looked at her in disbelief. “You are so unfortunate! Thank you for picking up my filth. You both suit each other perfectly. Shameless cheats. You are so useless that you picked up the man that I dumped. Good for—“ I did not get to finish when Thalia suddenly poured wine on my face. The man that was in the cup that she was holding. “Watch your tongue you filth!” she drew out in venom and I froze, shock coursing through me. I felt the need to pounce on her and give her the beating of her life. Who cared if she was pregnant? But I had something else to deal with. “Thank your lucky stars that I'm letting you off today. I should have—“ “You should have what? You should leave as the slave that my son has made you, stop running your mouth.” I felt so betrayed and there was no way that I’d ever believe that a day would come where Ragnar and Romana would treat me this way. Thalia even poured wine on my face. I just turned, not bothering to reply to Romana as I began to walk away from them. “Come back here!! Are you going to hide your face in shame?” “You just can’t handle the fact that Ragnar favors me. He kisses me good night every day and tells me how much he loves me. You just can’t relate. b***h!!” I ignored her totally and went straight to my room. I made sure to lock the door and just remained inside until night came. I already made my decision. I was running away. Ragnar would never keep me in his pack against my will. I waited until night came and carrying a few things that I needed, I skillfully jumped out of the windows, lying to any guard who walked past me that I was going to the infirmary. I never looked back and just when I passed the gates of Nightfang pack, I ran.
