Chapter 4

1015 Words
Audrey was shocked at the sudden treatment. Negative thoughts immediately swept through her brain. She tried to rebel, "Ronald!" her words were interrupted when Ronald's palm covered her mouth. Ronald put his head to Audrey's ear and whispered, "Keep quiet. There's something behind that bush." His soft voice made Audrey feel amused. Audrey's gaze instantly shifted to the bush. The face that looked angry before now turned into panic. She was just petrified in Ronald's arms. She had misunderstood Ronald, thinking she was going to be r***d. The panic made her unable to control herself when she was about to sneeze. So the resulting sound was loud. At the same time, the bush stopped shaking. Two figures immediately appeared behind the bush. It was Jerry and Rose. Rose was Jerry's girlfriend, who was a secretary. The two of them were a perfect match in terms of arrogance. "Ronald, I'm sorry. Because of me, they found out we were here." Audrey's voice was guilty. Ronald was taken aback by Audrey's repeated apologies to him. The anger that had appeared now disappeared instantly. "It doesn't matter. Sneezing is human nature." Ronald's voice was flat and understanding. Now Jerry and Rose were walking towards them. Their steps were hobbling. Their clothes looked muddy and torn. They should have been worn out. When they arrived, Jerry said pleadingly, "We are very hungry. Do you have any food?" Jerry asked in a weak voice. His face portrayed a sense of helplessness. Ronald answered briefly, "No." Audrey's brow furrowed. The look on her face did not agree with Ronald's answer. She knew that Ronald didn't like Jerry. Therefore, Audrey opened the suitcase without Ronald's consent. "After taking a peek inside this suitcase, I saw some food. I can give some of it to you." she said. Audrey quickly took the food from inside. She then offered it to Jerry. Ronald only glanced at it. His chest rumbled with anger. He didn't like Audrey's actions, which he thought were presumptuous. Unwilling to argue, he relied on his hand movements. He grabbed the food and threw it on the ground. "You want to feed this man? Let him get it on the ground!" Ronald said firmly. "Ronald." Audrey's voice was choked. She didn't continue speaking for fear of saying the wrong thing. Feeling insulted, Jerry clenched his fists. His nose flared like a tiger about to pounce on its prey. "Asshole! You've really insulted me! An ordinary employee like you doesn't deserve to say that to the manager! Jerry's voice was so loud that his neck muscles were visible. Ronald sneered, "In your condition you can still be arrogant?" "Yes, I should teach you a lesson!" said Jerry as he pointed his fist towards Ronald's stomach. But Ronald quickly dodged. "Jerry, you're not my opponent now. Do you think I'm going to be able to beat you up all the time? Bury your delusions!" Now Ronald attacked Jerry back. He punched Jerry hard in the stomach, "For starters, first punch." "Second punch!" said Ronald, breathing heavily as he punched Jerry. Just as she was about to deliver the third blow, Rose suddenly ran into the middle of them. She was punched in the stomach. Rose fell face down. "Rose!" shouted Jerry. He staggered to help his love. Seeing Rose wincing in pain made Jerry's temper rise. He stood back up and walked quickly towards Ronald. He rudely shouted, "Ronald Thomson! You're such a sissy! How dare you hit a woman! I'm going to get Audrey to fire you!" "Fire me?" Robert laughed, remembering his request to Audrey. "Don't get your hopes up. I wonder if Audrey will comply with all your requests again? We'll see who gets kicked out of the company." Ronald's gaze shifted to Audrey. He saw her cowering like a rat in the rain. He threw sign language at her. Audrey nodded quickly, "That's right, Jerry. From now on, I have my own stand." Hearing that made Jerry dumbfounded. The boss who always obeyed his wishes suddenly changed. "Audrey, you have to believe me! That trashy guy set your company back. Because his body has bad luck." Audrey shook her head, "Don't say that, Jerry. You don't know who Ronald really is." Not accepting the defense, Jerry went straight to Ronald. "You coward! You're the one who brainwashed Audrey, and if you're a man, you have to face me manfully!" Before Ronald could answer, he had already been punched by Jerry. He thoughtlessly returned the blow. The two fought fiercely. Jerry's weak body had not been filled with food, making him fragile. Ronald's relentless punches made him writhe in pain. He howled like a wild dog. Audrey was disturbed by the scene in front of her. She couldn't stand what she had been suppressing. Finally, she shouted loudly, "Stop Ronald!" Audrey quickly ran in the middle between the two. "Hit me right now! Do it quickly!" Ronald instantly lowered his fist. He didn't expect Audrey to be so reckless. Rose, who had started to recover from her pain, approached Audrey's side. "Be patient Ms. Audrey. Maybe Jerry was wrong too. Asking for food when we all need it." Ronald knew that Rose was only pretending to be sympathetic. To him, she was not just a hypocrite. But like a wolf in sheep's clothing. Seeing Ronald's cold expression, Audrey thought that he was angry with her again. She quickly changed her attitude. "Ronald, we are currently in a position of emergency. We should be working together to find a way out, not hurting each other. You can be angry with Jerry, but not at a time like this." Audrey's tone was softer than before. Her anger that was burning earlier was instantly extinguished. "Do I have to fight in your company?" Ronald snorted harshly. "That's not what I meant. Besides, it's about the food. Why are you fussing over it like a child?" Audrey's breathing went up and down, trying to keep her temper from overflowing. "You think I'm a child? You're still defending that sewer rat!" Ronald's voice was firm.
