Immediately I entered the nurse's office, she gave me that questioning look
"Brianna you're here again what's wrong?" She asked looking at me menacingly and I tensed
"Uuhm..I'm sorry nurse but I'm not feeling well" I said stammering
"Ooh really you don't look like a sick person to me what's ailing you?" She asked raising her brows accusingly
"I have a slight headache and I'm feeling cold"I said sounding firm and courageous
"Ooh okay lie on that bed, I'll have to check your temperature and then give you some painkillers" she said and got busy as I walked towards the bed at the corner in her office.
Just as she was about to take my temperature, her phone rang an she excused sorry.
"Sorry I have to pick this, I'll be back in a few minutes" she said and nodded. Immediately she left I let my mind travel back fancifully to the old days we had with Ethan. I remembered the first day we met, it was when we had gone out for swimming with my younger sister Eileen and Ruby. By the way ruby is my neighbor back at home we happened to go to the same primary school and after our primary, I made sure we joined the same school and we'll fate brought us in the same class and she happened to be my desk mate, my relationship with her strong and it was all known around the school. We were like sisters and partners in crime and inseparable, our parents were business partners and great friends. In fact they were our family friends. Although she was the only child, she still insisted on getting things her own way she didn't want her parent's cash to be her influence so she worked hard for almost everything.
I was walking around towards where Eileen and Ruby were basking in the sun, I was carrying two glasses of juice when I bumped into him.
"Oops! Im so sorry" he said sounding apologetically
"No it's okay I think I'll just go for other drinks, it's my fault, I wasn't concentrating" I said remembering how busy I was looking at Eileen and Ruby maybe that's when I bumped into him
"No let me make it up to you, I'm so sorry I was glued on my phone" he said sounding convinced,I was in between accepting his offer, he was cute and looked like a god in his floral beach shorts with bare well masculines chest, the abs were visible and I couldn't help but drool over him
"No thank you I'll just get another glass of juice* I said trying to convince him
"No I insist" he said and I had no choice rather than following him. I walked beside hima s we chatted and let me just say I was being carried away with feelings I don't know if it was love at the first sight or what, his presence was making me feel uncomfortable, he was making my heart flutter not to mention those stupid butterflies in my stomach which were making it even more worse.
"And by the way my name is Ethan, nice to meet you beautiful" he said and I couldn't help but smile stupidly, the thick and raspy voice of his made me feel like my stomach was doing some somersaults in there.
"Nice to meet you Ethan, my name is Brianna" I said as he helped me carry the their glass of juice
"Wow a nice name for a beautiful girl like you, I like you" he said and I smiled. He helped me carry the glasses to where Eileen and Ruby were. I introduced them and from the way Ruby was winking her eyes at me said it all, Ethan was such a cute.
"Bree, sorry to call you that but I love it when I use that, would you mind to give me your number, maybe we might meet for a cup of coffee somewhere" he said handing me his iPhone, to type my number
"Ooh no problem, I don't mind" I said typed my phone number and gave him back his phone.
"Wow sis that guy is cute I hope you took his contacts, you can't loose such a cute guy" Eileen said sounding excited and i laughed
"Like seriously sis, don't tell me you're falling for him plus you still going for that, you still in class eight, you shouldn't be talking about that right now" I said scolding her
"Ooh sis you don't know, I'm thirteen for crying out loud and you're just seventeen no big difference, but truth be told he's cute, what was his name again?" Eileen asked and Ruby laughed
"Ethan, and by the way Bree, Eileen is right, I hope you got his number, if not you're a d**k head" she said and we both laughed
"Shut the f**k up guys, he's mine and let me not get any of you near him and of course he asked for my contact and I gave it to him, he said he's gonna call soon" I said boasting
"Wow, wow, so someone's in love already is it love at the first sight?" Ruby asked and we laughed.
That's how we met with my cute prince charming who was now nothing but my ex boyfriend, I couldn't imagine he decided to throw the two years we were together just in the shade and forgot about it, I loved Ethan, he was my first love,my first boyfriend and he just made me feel complete but him breaking up with me because I refused to have s*x with him was still a mystery to me. We had agreed till I finish form four and he kinda agreed to it, we only made out , but he suddenly changed and didn't bother to know if he would hurt me and the worst thing is that he dumped me for Stacy, the school's slut, it hurt but what is life anyway?
"That was your chemistry teacher, she asked me to make sure you took your drugs and have enough rest" nurse said bringing me back from my reverie thoughts
"Okay thank you" I said in a low tone
The nurse checked my temperature and it was slightly higher than the normal, she prescribed some painkillers for me, gave me two tablets of paracetamol and some malaria tabs, she gave me a chit that's allowed me to rest in the sick bay for a while before I got better.
After that I took my cue to leave and I went for the sick bay, choose a bed at the corner close to the window which gave me the sight of everything happening outside. I plopped down on the bed and hugged the pillow, my eyes were getting glassy and teary, I just realized since Ethan broke the news to me it was when I was feeling the impact, I was hurting. Crying and sleeping was the only remedy
I suddenly felt sick, my body felt cold and numb, my head was aching and my body was shaking, maybe like the nurse told me I was suffering from malaria but deep down I knew the reason.
Tears were now flowing freely on my cheeks and I wouldn't do anything to stop them, I was now feeling the pain, I cursed the day I met Ethan. Sobbing silently, thinking of my past, memories and everything we did I couldn't help but cry. My eyes were getting heavy and drowsy.
"Are you okay Brianna?" I heard the nurse asking and I tried to compose myself
"Yes ma'am, I'm fine just feeling cold" I said trying not to face her direction
"Ooh you're shaking already, I'll get you another blanket to help you" she said concerned and walked out. A few minutes later she came back with another blanket and helped cover myself.
"I'll be here at lunch time, you come and take your medication, and don't forget to take your food it'll help"
"Okay ma'am" I answered in a low tone and she walked out of the room.
