CHAPTER THREE

"Bree! Bree!" Ruby's voice woke me up from my deep slumber, I was floating in my own world thinking of the good and the bad times.
"Jeez, you're drenched, are you having a nightmare or what?"
"What?!" I asked looking confused as I rubbed my eyes sleepily
"You're drenched in sweat, how you feeling" she asked concerned
"Like crap" I answered feigning a smile on my lips
"Like crap you say, but on a serious note, how you feeling?"
"I feel numb and sick at the same time, what did you bring me?" I asked trying to change the topic but Ruby being Ruby, she couldn't just get away with it
"I can see you trying to evade my question b***h, but you know me, so what did the nurse say?"
"I have fever and a terrible headache" I said trying to sit on the bed
"All because of that douche bag, listen sweetheart, I don't want you getting stressed out because of a stupid man who couldn't keep his d**k in his pants, if he can't respect your decision then to hell with him and from the looks of the things that guy never loved you, if he did he couldn't have left you for Stacy and who on earth does that? And he did that on purpose to hurt you, he knew well Stacy is a school slut but he still went ahead to dump you for him, wake up honey, you see that way Russell and I work things out, he's willing to wait for me and he respects my decision and that's what I love about him,I want the same for you babes,your happiness is mine too" she said while she pat my shoulder
What Ruby told really got me hard, it kept me thinking for a while, I even asked myself why was I crying? Ethan didn't deserve my tears, he was what he was and I had to let him go and focus on my education, I figured out I'd find someone more better than him and who would respect my decision.
"You're right Ruby, I shouldn't be crying over him" I said breaking the silence
"Yeah that's my girl, I brought you your favorite by the way, coffee and donuts" she said smiling
"Wow, that's why I love you" I said and hugged her, Ruby was heaven sent,the best homie I ever had, best friend and a sister in her
"Because I brought your favorite huh? And by the way get well soon,that class is so boring without you and the way I hate those girls, they've been making a lot of noise, you can't even tell if we having exams next week, you should get out of this stinky place and get your ass in class"
"Yeah by the way had forgotten about that, have they brought in the timetable yet?"
"Yeah and imagine the subject we starting with"
"Which one?" I asked frowning
"Math PP1 them chemistry PP1, my worst combination, I prefer English to those shitty subjects" she and I laughed. Ruby was not a fan of maths and chemistry she loved English and French but I preferred maths to English although I passed them all, I was among the first students in my class and across the streams so it didn't give me the headache
"Those are my favorite subjects you know"
"I know dummy that's why you all happy and stuff"
"Of course anyway Miss Jodie asked about you" she said as she made herself comfortable besides me on the bed
"And what did you tell her?"
"You were sick and in the sick bay of course, what did you expect"
"Nothing, I bet she wanted to assign me some other work, glad I was not around" I said sounding bored
"You're a lazy class prefect"
"What do you expect?" I asked and we both laughed.
We continued chatting for a while before the hell rang signalling the end of tea break, she excused herself and ran to class after promising to pass by at lunch time.
I spent the rest of the mid morning sleeping until the school nurse came in to give me the medicine.
Ruby later showed up at lunch time with spaghetti sauce and cheese for lunch. I know you're wondering about the meals. Elite highschool was a private girl school which accomodated only high class students or those kind of students who came from well off families, my mom was working with the government and my dad was the governor in our city, I didn't lack anything for that matter, we were served with the meals we wanted.
After lunch I spent sometime in the sickbay and at games time after feeling better I went back to class, I had a lot to catch up before the main exams.
I later went to see miss Jodie the class teacher after she had asked to see me.
"Brianna how are you feeling?" Miss Jodie asked me immediately I walked in her office.
"I'm feeling better miss Jodie thank you"I said
"Take a seat Brianna"
"Thank you miss Jodie"
"You are welcome Brianna, so I called you here because you are having your exams next week, how prepared are you, I've seen the way you're so relaxed, I wonder if you're prepared enough for the paper" she said and I tensed, Ethan's sudden change had made my mind and attention divert and I was afraid I was going to loose focus, and now that it was evident even to my class teacher, I had to do something before it was too late.
"I'm working towards that miss Jodie" I said trying to sound convincing enough
"You should do that Brianna, you're on of my bright students in that class, let me hope it's not what I'm thinking because you've totally lost focus on your school work, you should do something before it's too late, remember next year you're a candidate, so what's wrong, you know you can trust in me right?" She asked me and I felt the sudden urge to confess everything but held myself together, I didn't want things to get messier than they already were"
"Family issues miss Jodie, but I'm working towards that,I promise to work extra hard and improve my grades"
"Ooh family issues, I hope you get over with it and I wish you all the best, I only want the best for you"
"Of course miss Jodie, thank you"
"Welcome, I had some few papers I need you to give out to your class members it's for revision" she handed me the papers
"Okay miss Jodie thank you" I said while standing up
"And one more thing Brianna"
"Yes?"
"Work hard"
"Okay thank you miss Jodie"
As I walked out of the English department I had a lot running in my mind, Ethan's story, my education being at stake and the exams that were scheduled for the following week and I promised myself one thing, I was going to work extra hard and forgot about Ethan and his dramas, I wanted stop make my parent proud, my teachers and especially me and it was final
