Lin Yue, clad in a minimalist yet elegant Chanel dress, let the skirt flutter gracefully in the breeze. Her stiletto heels clicked rhythmically as she stood on the marble steps, eyes fixed on the mansion that had been her home for over two decades. However, an odd sense of foreboding gnawed at her. Ten minutes earlier, she’d received a summons from her father, Lin Zhennan, to the study.
The study was steeped in the rich, earthy aroma of walnut bookshelves. Priceless artworks hung on the walls, lending an air of sophistication. Lin Zhennan sat behind a massive leather desk, his knuckles white as he clutched a document. His face was a thundercloud, and when Lin Yue entered, he slammed the document onto the desk with a resounding “snap,” causing the teacup to rattle precariously.
“Look at the mess you’ve made!” Lin Zhennan thundered, his eyes ablaze. “You’ve got the golden opportunity to inherit the family business, yet you choose to chase this artistic fantasy. Isn’t that a colossal waste of time?” With that, he hurled the teacup to the floor. The fine celadon shattered into a thousand shards, glinting coldly in the sunlight.
Lin Yue’s gaze was unwavering, like a steadfast rock. Taking a deep breath, she retorted, “Dad, art isn’t a waste of time. It’s my passion, the very essence of who I am. I refuse to be a mere pawn in the family’s business game, dancing to your tune.” Her voice, clear and resolute, reverberated through the study.
Lin Zhennan’s entire body shook with rage. His face alternated between a deathly pallor and a deep crimson, and the veins in his neck protruded menacingly. He shot to his feet, pounding the desk with both fists. “From this day forward, you’re no longer a Lin! Get out of this house and never darken our doorstep again!”
Lin Yue was completely blindsided. She never imagined that her pursuit of an artistic dream would lead to such a drastic expulsion. Her eyes welled up, but she steeled herself, refusing to let the tears fall. She surveyed the once - warm home, now transformed into a cold, forbidding place.
The villa’s massive doors creaked shut, sealing her off from her past like an impenetrable wall. Lin Yue inhaled deeply, suppressing the urge to break down. Dragging her suitcase, she trudged down the steps, each step feeling like a farewell to her pampered former self.
