Adam and Dax stepped out of the portal behind Ganymede, and Adam had to take several minutes to reorient himself.
“That’s so weird.”
“You get used to it.” Dax scanned the area, making sure there was no one around. “And you can’t beat ’em for travel.”
“True.” He followed Dax to a narrow alley between two of the buildings. “Can you conjure them?”
“Nah.” He laughed. “Caspian’s the only witch I know strong enough to do it right. He tried teaching Felix once, but even he was never strong enough to hold them for any real period of time. And if you walked through one, you were lucky if you didn’t throw up. They just weren’t stable enough.”
