Chapter 7 The building around them smelled of dirt and charred wood, and of something far more familiar. It wasn’t the kind of place Sebastian had ever thought he’d find his sister, not after their years of growing up together in their lavish childhood home. He grabbed Adam’s hand, and they descended into the depths of the long-ruined building, the familiar smell of magic began to dissipate, and the facade of destruction and decay started to slip away, replaced by something more like what he was expecting. Pale yellow wallpaper, gleaming wood floors, and finely upholstered chairs and sofas. “Wow.” Sebastian looked at Adam, who used his free hand to reach out, testing whether a delicate-looking table with intricately carved legs was real by seeing if his hand could just pass through it.
