Chapter 11Cory Cory’s day went by quickly. The predicted cold front was blowing in and people swarmed the store, making last minute purchases. The sky had turned grey and leaden, and every time Cory went outside to assist a customer, she was blasted by icy air from the north. It didn’t help, of course, that she’d forgotten to bring her heavy jacket, and the windbreaker she did have clearly wasn’t enough. The girls at the register left one by one, and so did the boys in the back. Cory normally loved those last thirty minutes of her workday. Walking through the empty Tractor Supply with its front door already securely locked awarded her a certain sense of peace.
