Chapter 32Evelyn Evelyn pressed a wet washcloth against her eyes as she lay on her back in her room at Cory’s. She hated appearing rude to Miss Diana, especially when she’d gone to the trouble of preparing such a nice meal, of which Evelyn had only taken two bites, but how much could she be expected to take? She still didn’t know what to make of the revelation that she was married. And then to be expected to sit there while questions were fired at her, questions she didn’t have the answers to…No. A person could only handle so much. She didn’t blame Cory, or Miss Diana, or even the kids really. It was that sister of Cory’s who just wouldn’t let things go. She was so different from Cory. Nasty and sarcastic and nosy.
