Chapter 31Cory Evelyn had acted happy about the donuts and they’d had a decent enough evening together, what with the meal she’d prepared and the movie they’d watched but overall it had been weird. Neither one of them mentioned what happened in the night. On the couch, Evelyn had made a point of sitting as far away from Cory as possible. Despite having expected Evelyn to have regrets, Cory’s mood plummeted. As soon as the movie ended, Evelyn claimed being tired and disappeared into her room without as much as a peck on the cheek. Cory tried to shrug it off, of course, but the bed was awfully empty without Evelyn’s sparkling presence. Luckily, she’d been exhausted enough that sleep came quickly, despite there being no Evelyn in her bed. But today was a new day and— Fuck! It was Sunday.
