The One For Me

Chapter 1 Scarletts POV Hello my name is Scarlett Hargrove and I'm 27 years old. I've never been the one to hold resentment in my heart but just growing up the way I did was almost impossible to not harbor feelings. I grew up with only my mother and siblings and the sweetest grandmother one could have. Most of the time I was with her, my beautiful and sweet grandmother and as much as my mother did not like it i called my grandmother mom because technically she raised me. I was forced to grow up at the age of 7 because I had to make sure my siblings ate and the house was in order for when my mom came home at night so her attitude was not brought out. I know she loved us but barely showed it because of what she was going through being a single mom and all and the only support she had was her mom but it still doesn’t defeat the fact she had been so cold towards us but anyways as i've heard so many times stop living in the past or you will forget to live your life. Anyways i've always spaced out into this imaginary life i should have lived  with a white picket fence and a beautiful life with my kids. Yes is the answer to the question you might be asking yourself i do have kids and yes i have fell into the same fateful experience that my mom had to live but no i am always there for my kids and i always let them know that mom loves them to the moon and back and they always relish in that knowing that I will never leave them. But a little about me is 5”3 in height, average body with a couple of love handles may I add, red hair that falls in natural curls down my back, hazel eyes, and an amazing personality. I don't have many friends because I've learned that the majority of people only want to see you fall and then laugh at you and speak behind your back, so i rather have a small circle of friends and live happily.  As always I get up, make breakfast for my spoiled rugrats, take a shower, get dressed and wait for the babysitter to come so I can finally leave for work. A normal day in a normal society but soon i would never believe what life might throw at me. I get to work as always clock in say my hi to people im friendly with and start my day. I worked in Wendy's full time and at Walmart as a part time job so I will be able to make ends meet. I really hate to be put on the spot so I always did my job and went about my business but on this particular day I was nerve wrecked waiting for something to happen but I didn't know what and it really bothered me. I was always so in control and acted like nothing ever bothered that i  really didn't understand while i felt this way but i just let it sit in my head and tried to push it back to the farthest of my mind. I got my register from the office and went to count my till for the register I would be opening when a man appeared out of nowhere. I gave a confused look and asked ”Who are you? I've never seen you before?” and his simple reply was “ Does it matter to you!” i just took that as a rude reply and went back to counting. Soon after the bubbly manager came in and gasped and went to hug the unknown man and i just kept my gaze towards the money even though i had a weird feeling i was being watched. I left as soon as i was done and went to the front as we were about to open the doors so we can start our day but then i heard a throat clearing and i look back just to see our bubbly manager Ariel start talking and what she said made me all but mad and truth be told i have no idea why. “ As all of you may know I'm getting married and this young fellow here is the lucky man that agreed to marry me and I'm going to leave Scarlett in charge since she is the best qualified. Please listen and follow her orders as if they were mine and please keep up with the place.” I was about to protest and throw my opinion in when she looked at me and held her hand up as if noticing my reaction and just said “ i knew you were going to react  and get upset but i should remind you that when i was sick you took charge and did not disappoint me so i'm putting my faith in you once more and i know you won't let me down.” i just sighed and took the defeat with a nod and went to turn around when i heard her say “ Actually you can leave the register there and come with me” and i all but gave a small huff and she just smiled knowing i hate small talk. I followed her to the office and found her fiance there talking in hushed tone and apparently mad with whoever he was on the phone with and all i heard him say “ I’ll talk to you later about this matter it just became to over crowded” and i couldn't shake the feeling there was more to that than meets the eye or ear however you want to take it but before i can register what i was doing i all but simply blurted out “ Well i was called in here by my manager so excuse me if i interuptted your phone call”  with a scowl on my face and i really couldn't shake the feeling of him not liking me one bit but i just thought ‘ how did he not like me if he doesn't even know me’ but he just chuckled and he came to me and stopped and came to my ear so i can only hear him and he said “ if it were only you i was talking about your comment would have made sense but i was actually talking about dear old Ariel behind you” and i all but blushed and put my head down from the embarrassment while he just laughed at my actions. If i would have met him under different circumstances i might have thought he was really a nice person. But standing here i couldn't admire the fact he was really handsome and well built he was and my manager all but spooked me when she said “he's a sight isn't he” and i jumped up in horror that she just caught me staring at her fiance. She chuckled and said     “ relax girl i was the same way when i first saw him but worst i was literally drooling before he caught me staring and just shot me a look that said he will have me in bed if he so desires” and that actually made me laugh wholeheartedly and she actually gasped and said “ oh my i actually never seen you laugh until now and it's a sight to behold” i just smiled and said “ well what did you bring me here for?” and she all but returned to her normal bubbly self and said “ did you really think i was just gonna let you take over and not give you some training even though i believe you got this but its not only for a day its for a whole week and honestly if your gonna take over i need to show you how to properly document things and know what to do when the day is over paperwork wise hun” i just nodded and she went on talking about the proper way to document whatever came through the door as in merchandise or if a maintenance man came how to properly document the repair or what not but i kind of spaced out a little bit because when i came to she was waving her hand in my face trying to catch my attention. I immediately sat straight up and sheepishly gave a small smile while saying “Sorry for spacing out” and she just sat there feigning hurt  and saying “ was i that boring that you had to go into your mind or wherever you were” and i all did was smile and said “sorry” she just went back to talking about the other responsibilities i had to do and when she was done she said “ give me your phone” and i all but raised my eyebrow to that as she said “ i'm gonna put my number in your phone just in case you need me” she smiled after and i just grabbed it from my back pocket and handed it to her and she just put her number in and put herself as bff as a contact name i just couldn't help the roll of eyes that left me and she all but gasped and laughed at the same time and i just couldn't help but laugh with her. This is going to be one long weekend as I thought of the horrible mess that awaited me.
