Chapter 10 (Shelly Pov)

I reached home early morning. After completing all formalities I caught my flight. Dr Claire was disappointed with my sudden resignation. I was only able to give her an excuse for personal issues. I can't say her I have a problem with the boss itself. Luckily there was no interference of Shane throughout the day. But now I am a bit suspicious about his behaviour. He is like a lion, who will wait for the right opportunity to attack. I have a gut feeling that he is not going to leave me soon. With our last encounter, I don't think he will let me go easily.

I have to be more careful now. My luggage hasn't yet arrived. They said it will take 2 days minimum. I informed Don about luggage. He said he will take care of it soon. 

"Shelly, honey..... You have a visitor downstairs.." mom is calling me. 

Who is it? How come someone knows I am here. Am scared a bit now. What if Shane is back. But mum knows him. So it's not him. Let me go and check. 

I ran downstairs. I was surprised to see the person. That was the same guy who was there when Shane came to visit me. What was his name? Ryan..... No Ryan was that cocky one. This one I think is Kane. 

"Hi, Dr Shelly.. I think we have already met. Kane"  he said after seeing me. 

"hii, please sit down. Coffee, tea, juice anything?". 

Mum is staring at me. I think she is curious to know who he is.  " Mummy, this is Kane. I was working in his boss hospital." 

"Hello, Mam." 

Mum nodded a hi. She asked him to have something which he politely declined. 

"So Mr Kane, what brings you here? I think I have completed all my formalities there. Is anything remaining? If it's about the bond money Dr Claire informed me she will send me bank details after discussing with the authorities" 

" am not here for the bond money Dr I know you will pay it. Or else you won't take the risk of resigning. Can we talk outside.?" 

"Outside? What is the problem with talking here?" 

"Are you planning to Kidnap me or what." 

He looked at me with a shocked expression. As if he has been caught doing something very bad. 

"No. No doctor. I won't take that risk. Shane will kill me."  

Today there was only me and mum at home. Chelsy and her husband went for her routine check-up. Dad took Aiden to kinder garden. After that, they have to visit the park. Mum will be going to some parish meeting soon. I will be all alone after that. I don't think it's necessary to go out and talk, because mum is leaving anytime soon. 

" Shelly dear. Am going baby.. Take care. Kane doesn't mind, please. Something came up. If you need anything ask her ok? Is it ok Shelly if I go?" 

Mum is worried about leaving me alone with Kane. She always has all kind of crazy thought going in her head. I assured her I am ok. She left kissing me goodbye. 

I looked at Kane raising an eyebrow." still we need to go outside? "

He was staring at me. "I think Dr Shelly its time for me to go. We will meet soon." 

"heyyy.. Wait where are you going? You are the one who wants to talk to me in private? 

" since no one is here, I think its inappropriate to talk with you alone. "

What? I was surprised. Is he from the 18th century or what. Am not going to eat him alive. What he thinks of himself. He thinking something deep. As if talking to himself. What is his problem? Is he nuts or what. 

He bid me a goodbye and left. I was dumbstruck. What is with everyone. 

I went to my room after locking the door. I was searching for a new job vacancy. Its been 30 minutes I am searching for it. I heard the doorbell ringing. Who is it now? No way anyone from home can come soon at this time. 

I went downstairs and opened the door to get a surprise in my life. 

"Shane..."

"hello kitten.."

"what the hell are you doing here?" 

"won't you welcome me inside kitten" 

"I don't welcome strangers." 

He smirked at me and sidestepped me to get inside. He settled in the living room as if he owns the place. 

"what you want Shane?" 

"YOU" 

"WHAT???" 

"You asked what I want. And I answered what I want. You. I want you shelly. why did you resign? Anyway, I don't mind you resigning from there. In fact am happy. I myself was planning to change you from there." 

What the hell. Is nonsense is the only thing he knows to speak lately. He is been unreasonable. He wanted me to resign from there. But why? 

" because I don't like you working with Edwin. "

What bullshit. He has no right to decide where I will work and whom I work with. 

"Out. Get out of my house Shane. If not I will call the police." 

"try it." 

"what" 

"I said to try calling the police. Its been so long since I have an encounter with the police. Who is the head here? It's ok I will ask Kane. He is the one who handles my legal stuff. Call the police. Let's have a chat together." 

I think I will kill him anytime soon. 

"What is your problem, Shane. Why are you here?" 

Shane looked at me. His looks have become more intimidating now. Everything from him now screams power. Is this my old Shane. He changed a lot. My chain of thoughts was broken by a certain somebody's presence. He is very tall earlier and now he is bulkier too. I didn't budge from my place. I don't want to give him the feeling that he intimidated me. He leaned closer and whispered to my ear " its time for you to be away from your parents baby. Now you are no longer a pappa's girl. Its time for the king to take his queen. So enjoy your last few days of singlehood with your family. Bye bride to be.". With that, he bit my earlobe. I was so numb to react. When I reached outside he already left. I saw my dad and cousin Abel looking at Shane's car direction. Dad asked me who it was. I said, my old boss. Luckily he didn't see him. Abel was staring at the car. Why is he here? I hate Abel since childhood. He is the most selfish guy that I ever saw. He was in Australia. When dis he comes back. I ignored him and went inside.
