Chapter 4 The Deal

"So, what can I do for you?" I asked formally to her. Almost all of the ghosts I encountered in my life, they only have one reasons why they show their selves on me. They need help. I did helped some but only those who are easy for me to accomplish.

Her eyebrows furrowed as she started to scratched her head hesitantly. "Um, I don't know... I mean, what kind of help should I ask you about?" She asked back that made me became hesitant too. Is she serious? but she really looked clueless so...

"Like, don't you have unfinished business before you died? if none, then why don't you just go with the light? it's the best thing for you to do--"

"I don't remember how I died or when did I died." She suddenly interrupted that made me speechless. Wait what?

I laughed in confusion. "Really? I mean, then how come you know your name?"

"I just know it. The only memory I have in me is a lady calling me Blaire really loudly while she's crying in pain..." It must be the last person who's with her before she finally lost her consiousness.

FLASHBACK:

"Please! Blaire... wake up! wake up honey, open your eyes!" She screamed while her tears keeps on falling from her eyes to my face.

She's making my face covered with her tears. Every drops of it brings both warm and cold feeling for me... I want to answer her but I can't, I can't even see her face for everything around me are all white and blurry! it's like the whole place are melting slowly while there are four humanoid figures of shadows infront of me. The first one is this woman who's crying since earlier while calling out my name. The second one and the third one looks like a man and woman who's touching me and checking on me and the last one is like another woman who seems like she's just staring at me.

I can't understand why she's just staring at me without moving or saying anything. I don't know but I don't like the feeling she's giving me... who is she? who are they? where am I? and why do I feel like I'm lying on something who's moving forward fastly and endlessly? everything are just on it's current situation when my eyesight starts to became more blurry and my head is also aching like like it's going to explode anytime sooner...

PRESENT:

"Okay... then I'm sorry but I can't help you." I said flatly. I never encountered a ghost like her. She's the first one. Why does she seems like she has an amnesia? is it true or she's just denying it because just like the majority of them, she still doesn't want to leave.

"Do you know where you're buried?" I asked again.

Just like what I expected, she shaked her head. "No. But all I know, I live here and obviously... it's here where I also died." She pouted. "I don't even know if I have a family just like the others or I'm just alone..." She added as she let out a deep sigh.

I just stared at her while observing her. Well, she doesn't look like she's just lying or something but this is really weird. She could be one of those rare type ones but I'm not really sure if it's possible for I haven't encountered one yet and even my mom hasn't...

"You know what, you should just go now." I said to her in monotone voice that made her look at me worriedly. There's no point that we're still talking here. I can't help her so we should part our ways now just like what we should have done earlier.

"What? but, I thought you're going to help me??" I facepalmed. She's really naive and still clueless...

I cleared my throat before giving her my response. "Look, I can't help you. You're case is out of my capabilities and experienced so we must part our ways now okay? it's getting really late and I'm tired as hell." I let out a deep breath. "In short, I'm saying goodbye to you now. Okay?" After that, I immediately opened the door beside me and get out of the car.

Geez, the cold night wind automatically welcomed me so I moved faster in getting all of my things out of the car. I was just about to get the last laguage when she suddenly appeared right in front of me that almost scared me to death!

"What the hell are you doing?!" I slightly yelled to her. I'm still not used of that appear-dissapearing ability of them. Tsk.

She lowered her head and acted like she's the one who got scared between us. "A-are you mad at me? I thought we are friends?" Oh come on! is she like gonna cry now?

"No. Listen, I was just being nice to you back there at the bridge because that's what I should do. And, I also offered to help you earlier but there's nothing I can do for you so there's no reason for you to stick with me anymore." I explained to her. Making sure that she got what I'm pertaining here.

I waited for her response but instead she's just now looking at me innocently like she didn't even heared or listend to what I just said. "Do you understand?" I reassured.

"Nope."

"I want you to stop disturbing me Blaire. Do you get it?"

"But I'm not disturbing you! I just wanna be friends with you..."

I laughed hesterically. "Friends? living and non-living can't be friends Blaire!" She's completely talking nonsense my goodness!

"Says who?" She asked back.? Seriously? now I'm starting to regret why did I talked to her back at the bridge...

"It's just not right and against the law of living and non-living so please, leave me alone now and go back to wherever you came from." Now I'm starting to show her that I'm dead serious. Don't get me wrong here, I'm not being rude or something here. I don't want to hurt her feelings but I just can't deal with her...

"But I have nowhere to go to. I just always wander around without any specific direction. I'm tired doing that all my life..." She stated with a hint of loneliness in her voice. She also lowered her gaze again as she slowly leaned her back on my car.

"Then what do you want me to do then?" I'm starting to get annoyed here. Not to mention also how I'm slowly freezing here because of the cold weather.

"Can I stay with you here?" She suddenly asked that made me speechless again. What on earth is she even thinking?!

"I'm sorry but you can't be serious with that right? I'm sorry but I'm really pleading you to stay away from me and--"

"I promised to go with the light without hesitating when it finally shows up on me!" She interrupted while her hand is now raised on the air. "I promised! but please, for now. Allow me to be with you! I don't wanna be alone anymore! please..." She begged while looking at me helplessly. Damn it!

"Well, I don't have anyone here neither so... okay." I just agreed. I mean, I just realized that having her would have me an instant company since I went here alone.

She immediately lifted her head and is now looking at me with her ironically twinkling eyes and wide smile. "R-really?!" She gasped in disbelief.

I nodded. "Yes. We have to make a deal that once the light came and approach you. Go with it, okay?" If she's already been here in a long period of time. I'm sure the light will come and get her as soon as possible from now. Well, I'll just hope for the best.

"I promised! yayy!!" She happily exlaimed while now hoping and jumping in happiness. I guess my vacation here wouldn't be as boring as I expected it to be...

"Now can you step aside for me to finally get my last laguage at your back?"

"Of course! I'm sorry." She said as she happily moved sideways. She's still smiling widely while slightly dancing on her own. She went back to the cheeful her just like earlier. I'm glad...

I was thought since I was a child that no matter what happens. I should help them for this is the responsibility of the 'blessing' I have. And if this is the only way I can help a poor-lonely soul like her, then I'll do it... I just hope everything goes fine and that the light will come as soon as possible. I don't want her to get attached in me and maybe... vice versa for it will only cause a huge problem for the both of us and we don't want any of that to happen.

Maybe I'll spend my free time on finding ways to help her with her problems. Who knows? I might find a way to get rid of her earlier, right?
