I signed as I leaned my head back against my bed’s headboard. I shook my hair a little and felt the small droplets of water hit my bare chest. Even after a shower that would normally relax me, I felt tense

I closed my eyes and wished I had made the effort to go back to my own house that I had built not far from Jason and Anna’s place but exhaustion had hit me as soon as Jason and I had finished talking. Anna had food ordered from the hotel which had been tasty as usual. Having a hot meal of lasagna, garlic bread and a salad sure did beat a McDonalds any day and after it, while I watched my brother grab his mate and carry her away; I found myself too tired to walk more than upstairs and enter the room that had originally been given to me when I first moved here.

I had passed the twin’s empty room and felt sad when I didn’t hear them inside. Their great grandmother DeeDee had taken them away for three days to allow some down time for Anna and Jason and honestly; I felt lonely without them. Those kids had breathed new life into Jason. While his son was a typical male wolf pup; his daughter was a delicate china doll that not only had us all wrapped around her delicate fingers but had us by the balls….including her mate Kai

I sighed again as I thought of Kai. His power, his experience and his cryptic words. We already knew that Kai was her mate but Jason still had a hard time accepting it or Kai and he was forever bitching about it. While I understood Jason’s hesitancy; I still found the situation funny. I rubbed my hand over my face and contemplated calling Simon to ask for Kai’s advice when I heard the telling giggles from Anna while Jason growled.

Shit!

I so didn’t need to hear my brother f**k his wife! Not tonight of all nights!

My head was still f****d from everything I had learned about our pack and the attack. The reality of the situation that Jason and I hadn’t voiced. That had he and I had not gone away that weekend, and had come back when our dad had called us - we would have been there to help our pack and not lost our family…at least not all of them

I cringed when I heard Anna squeal in delight before moaning and I pinched the bridge of my nose. Yeah. I really should have made the effort to go to my own place! The buzz of my phone was a much welcome relief and I picked it up, surprised when I saw the name

“Hey Si” I said wincing when I heard Anna call out Jason’s name

“Hey Ray” Simon said “you ok to talk?”

“You have no idea” I said, grabbing my black t-shirt out of the wardrobe and slipping it on. I already had my boxers on and grabbed

my black gym shorts and put them on before grabbing my keys, wallet and phone charger and tossed them into the large gym bag I took with me on the trip before I unlocked my bedroom door

“Catch you at a good time then?” Simon chuckled

“I thought after mating and having a pup or two would make mated pairs ease off on the s*x?” I said, knowing that Simon guessed right

“Bite your tongue” Simon gasped dramatically

I walked to the window and eased it open, throwing out the bag before climbing out onto the ledge.

“I sec Si” I said. I put the phone in my pocket and as quietly as I could, I eased down the building, using some of the vines that had grown up against the wall.

Once on solid ground, I grabbed my bag and took out my phone again

“What’s up?” I asked Simon

“Where are you?” Simon asked me

“Walking back to my place…which is what I should have done in the first place after dinner” I said

“You were staying at Jas?” Simon asked me

“Yea. I was drained after our talk. I thought i’d stay over until tomorrow when the kids come back….but I rather watch porn without having my sister-in-law staring in it” I admitted as I walked through the gate and into the clearing towards home

Simon laughed loudly as he called me a prude. I heard him explain to Sophie what he was laughing about and I winced again when I heard her smack her mate loudly before telling her mate to behave and be sympathetic.

“Wait” Simon suddenly said seriously “The kids are not there? Where are they?”

“DeeDee took them to visit a friend in Dublin with another two witches. Some sort of fair was going to be on and Anna couldn’t go as she gets tired easily so DeeDee offered. Why?” I asked him

I heard his hesitation and I felt myself tense up, my feet stopping their movement even as I saw my house only a few short steps away.

A low growl left my mouth as I thought about my niece and nephew being in danger

“What’s going on? Are the kids in danger?” I asked between clenched teeth

“Pff” Simon scoffed “You think they’d be in danger and not safe with Kai around?”

My body relaxed and I let out a puff of breath. I nodded, knowing he couldn’t see it and continued walking until I was at my door and unlocking it.

“I asked because I figured Jason was about” Simon said casually

Too casually

”What did Kai and Aria do now?” I asked as I locked up for the night and walked towards my room

Throwing the bag on the bed, I turned on the light in my room and put the phone on speaker as I went to the kitchen to get a drink

“What makes you think they did anything?” Simon asked with surprise

Now it was my turn to scoff

“Because unlike my brother, I am more practical. Kai is a smart s**t and the supreme. He is also Aria’s mate and she’s his. The day the twins were born and Aria was crying to be fed; as soon as Kai walked in and up to Anna - Aria stopped crying and looked at Kai in wonder…..then a small side smile popped up on her face even though everyone knows babies can’t do that. I’ve seen how they both are. Their way too advanced… beyond their years...so….I ask again. What did they two do?” I asked calmly

“They seemed to have both gone on a little date…..six thousand, five hundred miles away or so” Simon said after a pause

“WHAT?!” I asked, the can of coke frozen in midair from my mouth

“I know” I could almost see Simon wince

“f**k me” I whispered “Jas is going to s**t a brick”

“I was expecting a call from him when I realised I couldn’t find Kai for a bit” Simon admitted “But when I didn’t hear anything, I figured it must not have been for long that they two went….before the call, I found out it had been for three hours. But this also explains why Jas didn’t realise if he kids are with DeeDee”

“Fuk Si!” I said “If Jas finds out, he’s gonna have a hernia before doing some magick woohh hooo and-”

“He won’t be able to because Kai is stronger. He touches my son, he’s dead” Simon threatened

A low growl left my mouth. He did not just threaten my brother!

“Oh stop it you both” I heard Sophie shout “This isn’t why we called”

I took a sip of the coke and tried to calm my wolf down as I heard her tell Simon off who in turn argues his case about Kai and Kai’s safety

“It isin’t?” I asked in surprise

“No” Simon said begrudgingly “We’ll talk about the Kai and Aria issue later. Right now we have something more important….more out of the blue to discuss”

“We do?” I asked as I took another sip before taking a bigger gulp of the coke

“We do” Simon agreed. “I’ve just had the strangest call from a pack in Scotland. A pack that we have no bad blood with but no ties with either…..And they spoke about you. Well you and Jason to be precise”

“Us?” I asked in surprise “Why? What was said”

“They wouldn’t tell me the details, only that they were looking for the Hawkson twins and need to meet them urgently” Simon told me

I frowned, my heart picking up a faster beat as my took another wing of my juice

“Why? Who even are they?” I asked

“He didn’t say. All he said was that the Hawkson twins would want to know and speak to him because they had a wolf who needed to talk to them about an urgent matter” Simon explained

“So random,” I said with a deeper frown, taking another mouthful of fizz

“But that’s not what’s important Ray” Simon went on “The wolf…..apparently has information about your old pack. Ray, the alpha

said this wolf has information about a facility that you were looking into”

The shock of that statement made me spew out the fizz in my mouth as the implication of what Simon said finally hit me.

"There's been movement....on the Hawkson case"

I looked up from my desk and away from the mountain of paperwork in front of me and carefully put my pen down

"Speak" I said as I pushed my chair back and stood up

"As you know sir, the experiment escaped from the facility" My Omega Sal said

"And we still no information about her whereabouts?" I asked

"No sir" Sal ducked his head down "They don't see her being able to leave the island as many of our people work around the area and on the ferry. Also she has no money nor any know how. She won't find help anywhere there"

"That's not the point" I said with a clenched jaw "This is a disaster! Human's and their weak ways! Send some of our people and get this sorted! I want her found within a day!"

"Yes sir" Sal said quietly

"Continue" I said with a harsh command

"Well, my contact in the Winter Moon pack has informed me that their alpha has been told about our escapee and that she is looking for the Hawkson brothers" Sal replied quietly

"WHAT?!" I shouted

I threw my black and gold paper weight at a bookshelf and roared out in anger. This is unacceptable! This changes everything

"This b***h will ruin everything!" I shout in anger "Maybe I can plant a false lead sir" Sal said with a quiver in his voice "Take them on

a fake trail"

"That won't work" I said in annoyance "The boy's aren't stupid. Ray has been looking into this for a while and will know what is a

fake trail and what is not"

"If you approve, I was thinking of using our human contact to go to Scotland. Also the implant could now come in handy" Sal said

"Yes, I think so" I said, rubbing my jaw "I believe we also have people with the pack that is in Carlisle, Nottingham, Manchester and.....The Black Moon pack. Simon's pack, yes?"

"Yes sir" Sal said, his eyes brightening "However, the one from Simon's pack has had to be careful. Magnus still resided there"

"f**k!" I growl "That's the last kind of s**t we need! Nevertheless , we need him to act as he direct. Call them all now and update them. We need them all alert and ready to do whatever it takes to bring Sue down. No matter the cost"

"B..but sir" Sal said with shock "She's the last of her bloodline"

"And a thorn in our side. We are not ready to take the twins on. At least not until the blue moon eclipse which won't be for another six months! Fine, tell them not to kill her....but bring her down at any cost. No matter the casualties!"

"Yes sir" Sal said, reaching for his mobile phone

I walked towards my office door and opened it, Sal following my lead as we spoke quietly in code. As we walked to the ground level, I lifted my hand to a few people and smiled at them in a hello but didn't stop to chat with any of them. Once beside the coffee shop and the revolving door leading out of our building, I whispered quietly

"The twins can't know about any of this. Not yet! Derail them anyway you can. I want them off the trail at any cost" I hissed

"Yes sir. I have good contact who can do that" Sal nodded

"Good. If all fails, take one of them out" I said with a calm voice

"Sir" Sal's eyes widened, his face pale "B..but...the witches orders...they require -"

"Only one of of each to be alive. One is a spare wouldn't you say?" I laughed in a low voice

"Yes sir" Sal said quietly

I was about to say more when I smelt his presence and when I looked at the long staircase, I saw HIM walking down them.

"Go" I said to Sal, even as my hand lifted up in greeting to HIM "And make sure it's all done. And make sure the delivery of good and

paid goods are completed. I wan't no delay or halt on our proceedings"

"Yes sir" Sal replied, bowing quickly

"And Sal" I said, my eyes tracking our guest's steps as he walked towards me, smiling "Make sure you bring me back a coffee.....very light"

I watched Sal's eyes widen as he understood our coded language and what that request meant. As he turned to leave, I plastered on a fake smile and walked towards the new comer, my insides seething at him being here. I knew what it meant and I had to act like I didn't. Any show of interest will make this fucker alert and I couldn't have that. At least not yet.

"Councilman Rashid" I said with a calm voice "It is good to see you here after so long"
