I patted my jeans again as a nervous tension filled my body. It was barely seven am but I was all ready and packed. My wolf and I both felt the tension in the air but along with that…something else had my wolf on edge. I had tried to speak to him a few times but he kept telling me to wait.

Of course it might have something to do with Anna and Kai. I had to update my brother and called him last night on what was happening - apart from the Kai situation. I had a feeling Anna knew what was going on because she had asked a couple of questions with selected words that let me know she was being careful because Jason was around.

Then Anna told me she would put a protection spell on us, even though Kelsie had already performed one. I could tell Anna’s was more powerful because suddenly, my body felt almost invincible.

Jason had wanted to be there with me but with his mate pregnant, he couldn’t leave and I didn’t blame him. Jason made me promise him updates every four hours and I agreed only because any other answer would only cause an argument. Then Kai had come into my room with his mum and dad and told me he needed to speak to my wolf

What the f**k?

No introduction, no ‘hey uncle Ray, how you doing?’ just straight up knocked, I opened the door and he said he had to speak to my wolf. One look at Sophie’s tired look and Simon’s stony face told me other s**t had gone down before they came to me and that this wasn’t the time to talk about it. I opened the door and let them into the room and I sad on the sofa in the room where Kai came and sat before me. All I remember is he had placed his hand on my arm and said two strange words and boom!..... I was out like a light.

When I came to, I was looking at Kai but…I wasn’t. I knew straight away that I was watching Kai as a human from behind my wolf. My wolf and Kai were talking in a language I didn’t understand and I could feel my wolf’s excitement and happiness…as well as worry. I had so many questions but after only ten minutes or so, Kai got up and let my arm go and just like that I was back in my body.

When I tried to ask for more information, Kai told me the wolf knew and for now - that was enough. The only reason I hadn’t pushed was because both Simon and Sophie looked exhausted and stressed. I only nodded to them and watched as the three of them walked out the door. I didn’t tell Jason about the interaction and even now, I was re-thinking that decision

When a knock came on my door, I shook my head and walked over, opening the door quietly and smiled.

“You ready boss?” Tim said as he walked in

“Ye” I said, grabbing my small overnight Adidas bag off the bed

I turned and walked out the room with him, closing the door tightly behind me. Tim bent down and picked up his own grey Adidas bag and we both started towards the lift to go to downstairs, the windows showing the sun slowly starting to come up

“What do you think we will find?” Tim asked me

I sighed as we stepped into the lift and watched it close

“I honestly don’t know. I just hope whoever it is, is genuine and it’s not a run around” I said with a sigh again

“I have a feeling it’s not” Tim said

The lift stopped on the ground floor and we both walked out. While the pack house was quiet, as we walked towards the in-house canteen. Every time I see this place, I am always amazed at how big it is. Even this early, there were about ten staff members cooking, putting things out and cleaning things. While it was quiet, there were a fair few people who were eating breakfast, children who sat with parents, teens or University students as well as workers were all dotted about eating and laughing.

“Do you think they will have any information on your family?” Tim asked as he picked up a tray

“Jason says it’s a possibility” I replied as both Tim and I selected our hot breakfast items

“s**t” Tim whispered

I only nodded as we both took our coffee and went to grab a table. We almost reached a two seat table when I saw Simon, Scott and Magnus come into the room. Tim immediately grabbed a bigger table when Simon lifted his hand to acknowledge us.

“Hey” Scott said as he walked towards us “You guys start. We were a little late coming down but looking to leave in twenty minutes”

“Sure. Don’t worry about it” I said as he moved away

Tim and I took about five forks full of food before the rest sat down with us. I looked at their faces and saw their tense look

“What?” I asked them

“There on the way to the ferry” Scott said, taking a mouth full of tea “And Magnus is going to meet us there. He’s going to Carlisle first”

“Why?” Tim asked, surprised

“Wait, ferry?” I asked

“Yea. Seems our informant has to hide and be a stow away” Simon continued on from Scott “Our plant has said he can see them putting things into the car. They practised putting her in and out of the car with a blank-”

“Her?!” I said, my voice loud “Our informant is a she? A female?”

“Yes” Scott said, his voice low “And she’s scared as hell. But that’s not the only thing. Someone informed our guy about a conversation that he overheard with the head honcho from the facility….and he mentioned the name Celine”

“Sonofabitch!” I hissed

“My thoughts exactly” Simon nodded

“Celine…..why does that name - “ Tim cut off, his eyes widening suddenly “you mean Celine as in that witch that f****d things up? Anna’s mother?...that Celine? I thought she was dead?”

“She is” Simon nodded “but our guy - “

“Who’s our guy?” I butt in, needing answers

“A guy called Marc Hanigaan” Simon said “He works as an IT engineer and his company is used by the facility at times. With the contact there, Marc was told about the conversation and he relayed it to Sam”

“Sam from the North Point pack? Where I originally got the info from?” I asked.

“The guy we went to see in Scotland?” Tim asked “Why didn’t he say then?”

“Because this conversation only took place yesterday evening and when he tried to call you, it went to voicemail. So he tried me” Scott

said “Then I went to Simon”

“We came to you to discuss it, but Kai also came along because he had to speak to your wolf and then all that happened and after, we couldn’t discuss it” Simon said with a sigh.

Tim looked at me with confusion as I just nodded. I hadn’t told him what happened as of yet so his confusion was justified. I gave him the ‘i’ll-tell-you-later’ look and he just nodded. When Magnus cleared his throat, I looked at him and saw his quiet resolve

“I’m going to go to Celine’s old home” Magnus said quietly

“Why?” I asked

“Because it is possible we have missed something and we need to find out what this she-wolf knows about Celine. The fact that Celine’s name was even mentioned makes me want to tear things apart” Magnus growled out

“Would anything still be there?” Tim asked “I thought you said a new witch was living there?”

“There is” Simon said “She’s someone Kelsie knows. An good witch. But when she took over that home, everything Celine had - including crockery; she stored away so the basement downstairs has kept everything - even the pencil Celine used to write”

“We figured that there was a chance we might need answers about things after a while and didn’t want to throw things out and regret it” Scott explained further

“Smart” I nodded “Do you think there will be anything of use there?”

“Most likely” Simon nodded “the only problem is knowing what is important and what is not”

“My powers will help me to sift through it easily. I’m taking three others with me and from her room here, Kelsie is going to help so that Sophie can use her powers to help speed up the search” Magnus said

“Wow” I whispered “You agreed to that?”

“If i didn’t, she would have followed me there” Magnus grumbled

I saw Simon and Scott exchange amused looks before smirking which turned into coughs when Magnus glared at them.

“Alpha”

We all turned towards a young man who looked like he was a young student. He bowed slightly and addressed Simon with respect

“The beta said the cars are ready. There are four baskets full of food and drinks stored within the back as well as camping gear. Cook has also provided hot rolls and drinks” The boy said

“Thanks Jay. Let him know we are on the way.” Simon said “Gentleman, shall we?”

Stuffing the last bit of scrambled egg and sausage in my mouth and quickly draining the last mouthful of coffee, I lifted my hand in thanks to Betty, the den mother who smiled and nodded at me

The food here was always the best and honestly, if they didn’t have that state-of-the-art gym here; i’d be one fat alpha because of the way I’d only eat and sleep here. Tim and I grabbed our bags and followed Simon out as omegas came to clear away our table. More people now started coming through the pack house and greeted us as we walked out. Magnus walked to a black range rover where three men I hadn’t seen before stood. Judging by their expressions and hard looks, they were rogues from Magnus old pack that he still controlled.

I felt Tim tense up beside me as his automatic reaction to attack became hard to control. I felt how hard Tim worked at keeping his wolf at bay as he watched Magnus speak to his men. I only nodded at them and watch Simon speak to his own Beta and warriors about the safety of his pack.

“Dad wait” I heard Kai say

I turned around and saw Kai running out and launch himself at Simon who picked up his son and hugged him

“What are you doing up so early my pup?” Magnus growled

“I couldn’t sleep” Sophie said

“Mum was crying, thinking you were gonna get hurt” Kai said to his dad “Then she decided that you ’better-come-back-god-damned-it-coz-i-ain’t-raising-four-kids-on-my-own”

Sophie blushed, her cheeks infusing with heat, her eyes widening at Kai’s words before she placed them on her hips and scowled at him

“What did we say about eavesdropping?” Sophie asked Kai

“You were growling so loud….I couldn’t help but hear it” Kai shrugged his shoulders

“You were in your bedroom and I was outside the apartment waiting for you to grab your jacket!!” Sophie said, throwing up her hands “and I said it under my breath!”

“Kai” Simon said sternly even as his mouth lifted in a smirk

“Wwhhhaaattt?” Kai said, raising his hands in questions

We all chuckled at his antics as I watched Simon walk up to his mate and pull her in for a kiss. I smirked, glad to see nothing had changed after I had left. They two were still horny as hell. I heard Magnus clear his throat and Simon let Sophie go who seemed to have a hard time breathing. He put his forehead to hers and quietly spoke

“Not only am I coming back to you, but I’m gonna be there to raise all five of them” Simon said

“Five?” Sophie frowned

“Ye” Simon smirked “The one we gonna start working on once this one is here safely”

Sophie gasped and smacked his arm as Simon chuckled and kissed the tip of her nose

“I love you” Simon said gruffly “And nothing short of death will keep me from coming back to you”

“That’s what I’m afraid off” Sophie whispered back

“I’d still haunt you're ass….you think I’m letting go of this ?” Simon joked grabbing her ass with one hand and pulling her to him; causing Sophie to squeal both in embarrassment and delight

“I do not need to see you pawing my daughter this early” Magnus grumbled

I walked down the steps and towards a white range rover with Tim and started to get in as one of the warriors took my bag. I sat in the front passenger seat as I watched Simon with his family.

My heart hurt for a moment. I knew we had to wait for our mate. Hell, Jason had been waiting almost ten years for his before meeting Tasha and then a further three for Anna. Goddess alone knows when I will meet mine; but I can’t help but wonder what she will be like and when she will come into my life.

When Simon put Kai done and kissed his cheek, I wondered what my mate and I would have first. While a boy would be great, you know…someone to tussle with and show him all that I knew. A daughter would just be….wow. No doubt our place would be covered in pink and glitter and sparkles as well as dolls but…I would love it. Of course I’d also kill any man or boy who came near her.

When the car door closed, I blinked and realised that we were all in our cars. Tim, Simon and I in this one. Magnus with his three in the other. When I saw Scott in the other car with three warriors from Simon's pack I looked at him in surprise

“I thought Scott was always meant to stay with Kai?” I asked

“He is unless Kai insists with the moon goddesses blessing to leave him” Simon sighed as he turned the car around

“Is Magnus going to be ok?” I ask when I see his car go by us

“He will be” Simon said after pause

“You realise that after this is over, we need to sit down and talk about what is really going on” I said sternly

Simon glanced my way before nodding tightly to me. I nod back and pull out my phone, dialling my brothers number

“Hey” Jason said

“I guess you woke early too” I replied

“try - not sleeping at all” I heard Anna snort

“Hey” I joked “I don't need to know your s*x life”

“Ray!” Anna gasped

Jason burst out laughing as he teased her back that to some extent it was true. I winced as I realised that that was probably the one way

Anna used to try to distract Jason’s attention. I cleared my throat

“We’ve just left” I said

Just like that, I could feel the tension come back over the phone and silence was telling

“How many?” Jason asked

“There’s going to be twelve of us from our end and they are sending eight from there side” I replied

“Ok. do you guy’s think there’s going to be problems?” Jason asked

“Do you need me to-” Anna started

“No” Jason cut in strongly “You've done enough. You know you can’t do too much when you are pregnant. It drains you”

“What good is it being a high witch if - “ Anna tried again

“No Anna” Jason growled

“Don’t growl at me mister!” Anna came back at him “Or I - “

“Magnus is not going with us though” I cut in, trying to stop the fight

“He’s not?” They both said together

I heard Simon chuckle and I smirked before I continued on to explain what we learned about the informant being a woman and the conversation about Magnus going to Celine’s house. I knew it hit a nerve when Jason stayed quiet.

“If….if he finds anything relat…related to…” Jason cut off, pain still clear in his voice

“I will ask Magnus to keep an eye out…but I’m not sure what we could possibly look out for” I said sadly

“Ye” Jason said gruffly

“I can -” Once again Anna tried to speak

“Why won’t you listen?” Jason said with frustration “Don’t you understand how important you are too me? How drained you’d be if…

I can’t …”

Silence

“I only meant that I could speak to Kelsie to ask her to help uncle Magnus with things that may relate to Tasha and Cody” Anna whispered silently

“f**k” Jason whispered “I’m sorry. I never meant - “

“I know,” Anna said quietly back.

When I heard silence again I knew they were hugging. Jason hugged her a lot and I just knew he was shaking. Losing Tasha and Cody as he did still plagues him till this day. Even though his heart totally belongs to Anna and his children; he still holds a little blame for his own actions

“Anna will speak to Kelsie” Jason said quietly “do you need any more from our side. You only took Tim and two others with you”

“It’s ok. If there are a large group of twenty men, we will call attention to ourselves. It should be a smooth operation” I replied

“We have enough people. Keep some of your guy’s on stand-by” Simon spoke up “maybe even send four extra with the ones that are arriving today”

“The five i’ve sent today should be arriving soon as they help keep you all safe” Jason said “The extra’s can go direct to Glasgow if need be”

“Thanks man” Simon said “But lets hang fire with those guys for now”

“Sure” Jason said with confidence “Ray, I’m going to send extra guys to Simon’s place. Make sure you have backup with you. I rather

it be an uneventful, boring ride back than under prepared and attacks”

“Ye no problem. I’m sure there’s enough space for them” I replied

“Sure is. I’ll make sure to let John know we about to have company” Simon said

“Stay safe Ray” Jason said “I’ll check in with you in about three or four hours”

“Sure. You too” I said gruffly back

Closing the phone I let out a sigh just as Tim opened a can of juice and passed it to me. I took a long drink from the cold pepsi max can

and sighed with pleasure. Simon reached over and turned on the music and the sound of Ed Sheeran filled the car. I looked out onto the motorway as my mind wandered away as something in me told me that life was about to take a huge turn and nothing was going to be the same again
