I held Aria’s small bag as she looked for her favourite bear that I had given her. I knew where she had kept it and I really wanted to tell her where it was but I had to let my mate learn and grow.

I saw her pick up a hello kitty notebook that I had gotten her and turn to me and smile. I smiled back, my heart sore for how cute she

looked.

“Are you almost ready love?” Deedee said

“She’s almost done” I replied

Grandma Deedee came into the room and smiled. Aria picked up the matching hello kitty pen and came back to me, handing me the items which I placed inside of her Disney princesses backpack before I zipped it up

“I can’t find my bear” Aria said sadly, a frown on her face

“I’m sure it’s here somewhere sweetheart. Where did you last have it?” Deedee asked her

“I slept with it. In the morning he and I had breakfast, remember?” Aria said “Then I went to bathroom and he’s been missing since”

“Don’t cry” I said when I saw her grey eyes start to water up. My heart always hurts whenever she smiles super bright or when she is sad and cries. “I’ll help you find him”

“No” Aria said “I find it”

“Ok…you find it” I said

I was really proud of her. My mate was so brave and independent. Everyone thinks because she is nearly four, that she still needs to be babied. But they don’t know what I do…or how strong and powerful she really is.

Aria started looking for the bear again, sweeping the room once more as she tried to find it. Deedee walked up to me closer

“Does your mum know you are here?” She asked me

“Yep” I said, my eyes still on my mate “She knows. I promised to go home as soon as you all get into the car”

“You realise that you aren’t going to be able to do this…popping in and out everyday to see Aria, once we go back home” Deedee said quietly

Silence

“I know” I said sadly

“Kai” Deedee stroked my hair and I looked up at her “This could be so dangerous if the wrong people found out about you two. You need to ease up on how much you visit”

“Keeping true mates apart is forbidden and wrong” I replied

“I know but we are not keeping you apart. We are trying to keep you safe. You and Aria - “ Deedee started

“No-one can harm my mate when I’m with her” I said confidently

“What about when you are not there?” Deedee asked “You have to let her learn and grow…and to become strong within herself”

“I will. I wont ever stop that happening” I replied

“But your constant presence will. Kai, you know I support you both being together” Deedee said as she bent down and hugged me

“But it’s human nature…when someone else is stronger and constantly does something for us, we become….dependant on them”

Deedee let me go and looked at Aria who walked out of the room and almost immediately came back inside. She walked up to me and took my hand, pulling me with her. I followed her as we walked to the next room and saw Toby, her twin brother.

“Where’s my bear Toby?” Aria asked

“I don’t know” Toby shrugged his shoulders

“You took it” Aria said

“I didn’t” Toby laughed

I felt myself get annoyed

“Give it, Toby” Aria shouted as she stepped into the room

She let my hand go and walked up to her brother.

“I didn’t take it!” Toby shouted louder

“Toby!” Deedee said with authority “Don’t shout. Now, did you take your sister’s bear?”

Toby became silent and I felt my anger rise. He shouldn’t be annoying my mate. Because of him, she had tears in her eyes

“Kai…you need to stop” Deedee said

I looked at her in surprise, what did she mean?

“Don’t hurt him Kai” Aria said, running back to me “He my brother”

What was I doing?

Deedee stepped in front of me and looked me in the eyes. I saw her eyes flash with white rings and I immediately calmed down. I didn’t even know I was hot…like fire. I heard Toby coughing and Aria held my hand. When she pressed her thumb down, I felt cold

suddenly and I felt my body shiver.

“Don’t be mad Kai” Aria said “Please”

I saw Deedee rush to Toby and hold him to her as she touched his hair and face. She wiped his tears and I knew I did something…something bad. I felt guilty and took a step forward. Toby was angry and he shouted at me

“Your not my friend any more” Toby cried

“Toby…I’m sorry. I ….don’t know what I did” I said, still holding Aria’s hand

“You hurt me” Toby said “You made my head hurt and you made me hot”

“Sshhh love” Deedee said, “Sit here”

She lifted him up onto the bed and she kissed his cheek before chanting a few words. I saw a white light appear beside her and I saw

that white angel I seen before

“Nuwana” Deedee said “Please, could you hytoplas him”

The angel nodded once and touched Toby’s head and told him to close his eyes. Toby did as he was told and I watched Nuwana touch his head and his hand while humming a soft tune. He quickly stopped crying and I saw his red cheeks become normal again after a while and his little body went from being stiff in pain or relaxed. After a few minutes he opened his eyes and smiled.

When he looked at all of us, his eyes widened and he laughed

“Are you coming home with us Kai?” Toby asked

“No” I said “I’m only here to help Aria pack. Toby, have you seen Aria’s bear?”

Oh” Toby said, then smiled “I played with it with my cars. But then I put it back in Aria’s room, beside the tv table”

“Ok” I said and smiled.

“If you are ready, go give your bag to Cilla and she will feed you lunch. We will be leaving in one hour” Deedee smiled at him

“Ok” Toby said with a smile

He started walking past us and I realised that what happened a few minutes ago and whatever I had done, he seemed to have forgotten. I realised that Nuwana had either erased the situation from his mind while cooling him down or had made him forget. As he passed us, he looked at Aria

“Are you coming Ari?” Toby asked

“I need to find bear first. Then i come” Aria said, nodding her head

“Ok” Toby smiled

He looked at me and then said something strange

“You my best friend Kai…but you’re Ari’s bestest friend. I trust you....even when you sometimes do not right” Toby said

Then he walked away. I looked at him, sad that I had hurt my friend. Deedee came up to me and looked at me as Aria kept holding my hand

“Kai, you could have really hurt him” Deedee said “You have to be very careful how you think. Because anything you think of seems to happen. Do you know what you did?”

I shook my head

“You were trying to look into his mind for the answer and started giving him a headache and pain. He started becoming hot because your anger started rising” Deedee said gently

“I’m sorry” I said quietly

“We know you didn’t mean it. But what would have happened if I or Nuwana hadn’t been there?” Deedee asked

I looked down in shame. I was the supreme and I should have better control

“I been there nana” Aria said “I cool Kai”

“What do you mean sweetheart?” Deedee asked

“Aria, shush” I said, scared of what she might tell everyone

“Bu..but Kai. I help. I’m cold so I help” Aria said in her quiet voice

“Aria…don’t say any more” I told her gently

“What is going on?” Deedee said, hands on her hips “What are you two hiding?”

Aria put her hand over her mouth and looked at me with sparkling eyes and giggled. Her laugh made my heart hurt and I loved her more. They don’t realise how much I loved her. They would tell me I didn’t understand but I did. When Aria laughed, I laughed with her

“Where’s the bear Aria?” I asked her

“I don’t know” Aria said with sad eyes

“But you can know” I said gently. “Think really hard”

“W…what are you doing Kai? She’s too young” Deedee said

“She’s not nana Deedee” I said “Watch”

I held both of Aria’s hands and watched her face. Aria giggled and smiled, her eyes going wide. When I told her to close her eyes she did and like a good mate, followed everything I said. Then, like a better mate - she told me she knows what she’s doing and that I

should trust her

“I can see him!” Aria screamed in delight

“Call him to you Aria” I said “Call him to you”

“Oh lord” Deedee whispered

“This shouldn’t be possible” Nuwana whispered

“He’s stuck Kai” Aria said sadly “He’s stuck where I can't get him”

“Think really hard Aria” I said “Call his name. What’s his name?”

“It my special name” Aria said, eyes still closed

“Call him out loudly” I encouraged her

“Arka” Aria said “Come to me. I call you”

Deedee gasped and I knew why. Arka - She named the bear after both of us. I helped Aria by pushing a little bit of my energy towards her and suddenly she frowned and knew what to do. I felt the magick in her. It started rolling around and crashing in her. I could hear her moan as if in pain and I sent a healing feeling into her skin to help. If it caused any more pain, I would stop and do it myself.

After almost five minutes of staying silent, Aria giggled, her eyes still closed. I heard Deedee gasp and saw Nuwana bend down into

one knee behind Aria.

“Not possible” Deedee said “Not at this age, not possible!”

I watched as white fluff, brown string and beads that floated in the air, came towards us. I watched - fascinated as right before my eyes they whirled in the air, floating and dancing about as if wind was blowing them around. Right before my eyes, those bits of things became the bear as they joined and stitched itself up. I saw the blue t-shirt come over the bears head and over it’s stuffed belly and watched as a red cap floated in the air before settling onto the bears head.

Aria giggled and opened her eyes, her gasp of happiness loud. She opened her arms as she let my hand go and the bear gently floated down into her arms. She squeezed it tight and kissed its cap

“Arka” Aria said with a smile “lookit Kai…I did it! I did it”

“Yes you did Aria. You are amazing!” I said and lifted my mate up into my arms and hugged her to me.

Aria squealed in happiness and I saw Nuwana get up, looking at a shocked Deedee

“She’s -” Nuwana started

“Don’t say it” Deedee said “No-one can say it. If we say it and put it out there; someone will hear”

Aria was still talking animatedly even though Deedee was being still like a statue. I wanted to tell them not to worry. That I am here and always will be. No-one could touch my mate. No-one would dare

“Oh lord, Jason is going to hit the roof!” Deedee whispered “Nuwana, please - Let Anna know that when I arrive, we will need to urgently speak and to make sure that Jason is some how not around”

“Of course” Nuwana nodded

“And disperse any traces of magick in here. I was going to do a cleansing spell after we left here anyway but we might need something more powerful” Deedee nodded to her

When Nuwana hesitated, Deedee turned to her and so did I

“What is it?” Deedee asked

“I…can’t fully obey” Nuwana said “Aria doesn’t want me to clear the magick”

“What does that have to do with anything? She’s a child” Deedee said with a frown

“She….she can command me” Nuwana whispered “My light, it feels her powers and it is pure. There is nothing but selflessness in her. Her pure thoughts are commanding for me to provide her with the happiness that comes from agick”

“What?” Deedee asked, her body shaking

Wow! My mate was super powerful

“Aria” I said stopping her dancing about “You know about our secrets and how we talked about some bad men”

“Uh hu” Aria said, her eyes wide

“Well, I need you to be good and listen to nana Deedee. I need you to not leave magick around here ok” I said to her

“But I like magick” Aria said, holding out her hand “Lookit…stars. Magick has stars”

Over her open hand, a small ball of blue fire twirled and shape- shifted before becoming a bright ice white star, a blue light emitting from it

“See” Aria smiled “So pretty”

“I know Aria. But not everyone can see it yet. It has to be a secret” I said to her

“Oh god! It’s blue” Deedee said

“It’s as you thought” Nuwana said

“Aria. Let Nuwana take the magick away. For a little while. It’s not safe to keep it here” I told her

Aria looked at me with her big eyes and nodded. She looked at the star and I could tell she was having a conversation with it. Which was silly really since stars can’t talk but it’s my mate and everything she does is correct and she has a way with things so it must be

right.

The star seemed to shimmer and shake before it burst into little bubbles, falling to the ground and disappearing. Aria looked at Nuwana and smiled before waving her hand. Nuwana bent down and whispered in Aria’s ears, asking for permission to take away the magick and after seeing me nod - Aria agreed

Within seconds, Newana had cleared everything up and all traces of magick had been cleared from the home. Deedee took Aria’s hand in hers and walked with her outside the room just as Toby started shouting that he was almost finished his sandwich and wanted his snacks.

“This changes everything Kai” Deedee said to me quietly “This can’t be hidden or kept from everyone”

“B..but nana Deedee….they’ll take her away. They can’t take my mate away “ I cried

“I’m sorry Kai. This has now become too dangerous. You need to go home quickly love” Deedee said with a sad voice

“NO!” I shouted “She’s my mate! Mine and no-one else can have her or take her away. You promised you wouldn’t tell”

“That was before I knew how powerful she is and without training. Before I knew what you both are hiding Kai” Deedee said

“You promised!” I cried harder as tears fell from my eyes

“I’m sorry” Deedee said as she cried too "But even you know how dangerous this is and if Magnus ever found out....how this is all connected...You could be in so much danger Kai. And Ari....to lose you would kill her and then where would we all be?"

"Nana Deedee" I cried "Wait. I...I'l train her...I'll be better"

"It's not about you being better love. You're already the best" Nana Deedee sniffed "I thought you two should be allowed to be together but this...that star...that magick...We are just lucky no-one has managed to sniff it out"

"Kai!" Aria cried out when she saw my tears "Kai no cry!"

Deedee picked up Aria and put her on her hips. Aria looked at me and started crying, calling for me

“KAIII!!.....KAIIIII” Aria screamed, her hands holding out to me

“Nana D - “i started

With a few short words and her finger moving, nana Deedee looked at me

“Home Kai” Deedee said loudly

I felt my stomach do a funny thing like It does when I have gas, but I don’t let out wind. I hold my arms out to Aria, calling her name as she cries; kicking and screaming for me. Suddenly wind starts to pick up and just like that, I find myself standing in my own room,

Aria’s screams still in my ears,

I get so mad. I start to chant my spell to get to Aria but I can’t! I can’t go there! Something is blocking me! I try and try again but I can’t move! I don’t understand….how has nana Deedee managed to stop me from going to Aria?!

I start to feel sick. Like I've ran in circles and made myself too dizzy….my head keeps going round and round. I run to my bed just as I feel my legs become like jelly and I lay my head back, my eyes closing as sleep starts coming over my body

Magick!

Someone was putting me to sleep!

I called out to Aria in my mind and I could hear her too…her mind was fading like mine. I tried to hold on longer, telling her I would come for her. I would come find her. Then I feel asleep, Aria’s teary face and sounds of her crying the last thing I remember
