Henry
I’m a mess. Ever since I saw Sydney in Graces room I can’t get my s**t together. I’m off on my own drinking in the living room when I see her again. She’s having the time of her life right now with gabby and Jen. I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Bryce has a way of ruining her happiness. I keep my eyes peeled for him but he must have taken off with a girl by now. It’s nearly one in the morning. I decide to take the bags to our designated drinking rooms.
The doors are locked so I drop the bags outside of them. It feels eerie up here. Too quiet. I hurry back downstairs to see everyone reconvene in the kitchen and to my surprise it looks like Bryce is giving the girls s**t.
“f**k off bryce.” My sister says rolling her eyes.
“Cmon we’re both drunk. And you look hot as hell. Whatdya say Syd? For old time sake.”
“Get lost.” Brennan says. I can see the fury lingering in his eyes.
“Your an ass.” Jen says downing her drink. I just barely hear what comes next.
“Syd. I know you miss me. Let me fix it.” And then he touches her. My body is raging. I wanna kill him. Rip his fingers off and gauge his eyes.
“Get away from her.” My voice is steely but it’s even. Everyone looks at me surprised. Bryce just smirks.
I walk over to him and Brennan tenses. Weird. Not my issue. I grab Bryce’s hand and bend his fingers backwards. “I will break them all if you touch her again.” I promise. He mocks fear and pulls his hand away still looking at Sydney.
“She didn’t say no.” Everything freezes. All eyes move to the girl that looks like she may implode at any second.
She looks him directly in the eye and her words will never leave my mind.
“It’s wasn’t worth the two minutes then, it won’t be now.”
Laughter erupts and Bryce hightails it out of the kitchen. Everyone’s talking again and then I see it. Why Brennan tensed.
“Why are you two holding hands?” I ask. Glaring between Grace and Brennan. There are rules.
“They’re together.” Jen says like I’m stupid or something.
“Excuse me?” I say. I heard but I just have heard wrong.
“Leave them alone. There was enough drama just now.” Sydney says but I’m coiled up now and I don’t care. She must see this because she touches my arm and I freeze.
In one touch everything starts to fade away. The anger the noise the people. I feel every muscle unclench and I take a deep breath.
But this time when I look up my sister meets my gaze with a knowing look. A look that says oh s**t.
“I’m tired.” Gabriella says and Jen nods in agreement.
“Let’s go to our rooms.” Brennan suggests.
We walk up the stairs only to find the room assignments boil my blood further.
