Chapter Fourteen Friday Before The Party

488 Words
Grace I’m excited for this party. To celebrate with all my friends in a last hoorah before we go ur separate ways. We made a pact at the beginning of the year to come back in five years. We also decided not to disclose where we were going to school until graduation night so we didn’t have to spend the year counting down our separate paths. I look through the closet plucking things out but nothing seems to fit my mood. Then again as Syd tells me I am hard to compete with. I take that as a compliment because she says it with love. I glance at her over my shoulder and see that she’s fidgeting. She must be nervous no haven’t seen her at a party since that night. Not like what happened could again because it’s already done but I do think she has regrets. I would. I walk over and sit beside her taking her hand in mine. She glances at me and smiles and I smile back. She doesn’t say anything but she doesn’t have too. Just like I don’t. We both know this is a big deal for her. Finally she sighs and stands up. “You gonna make me look like a clown?” She asks and I break out into a grin. “You’re leaving me in charge?” I ask. “Just tonight.” She nods once. “You have my word!” I squeal hugging her. She laughs and hugs me back. Sydney entrusted me to make her look amazing tonight and it’s a job I don’t take lightly. After what Bryce did to her it wasn’t something she let anyone do. I hope last night was a turning point. I can’t believe my brother showed her the green house that he forced me to help him with. He even took pictures of my blood sweat and tears. He called me into his bathroom to have me style his hair. I wonder who his victim is tonight or if he isn’t sure yet. His best friend Brennan hasn’t been around a lot so I’m hoping he’ll be there. I’ve had the biggest crush on him since freshman year. Henry warns me off him saying they’re one in the same but if I never see him again what’s the harm in some fun? That’s what tonight is all about. Fun. Now I just hope nothing ruins it for Syd. She’s been down a lot this week and I’m hoping she’ll tell me about it. Though I know it’s doubtful. It took me forever to get ready and then find the perfect dresses for us to wear. After careful choosing I pick out two pairs of matching boots that are flats because if it’s such a long party then we need to be comfortable. I pluck and primp and prime and poke and prod until there’s nothing left to do.
