Chapter Two

1512 Words
It had been two months since Edward discarded her like a used tissue. He has left her with a cheque of 100 million dollars. At first she wasn't going to use the money, she was fully prepared to destroy the cheque. But after three days of crying over her picture perfect marriage that was never real, she decided to use the money. After All, it was her pay for playing the perfect wife for the perfect monster for a whole year. What would she gain by destroying the cheque? She was all alone in the world without any family, friends or lover. At least she thought she had a husband but turns out she didn't. Anna woke from a dream, a dream of her and Edward being the perfect couple. Her face instantly turned sour and she gagged. After all that bastard had done to her! He wasn't even worthy to show up in her dreams! How dare he?! She took a shower and got dressed. She did her makeup and did her hair in a cute style. Once she was done, she sprayed some of her favorite perfume on herself. She smiled, feeling better than she and in the past two months. She had spent enough time grieving, it was time to move on with her life. She stared at the hotel room that had been her home for the past two months. It was as bare as when she had checked in, the only difference being a cat figurine made of glass and crystals that laid on the window ledge. It caught the sunlight and bursted into brilliant colours, painting the dull room in a rainbow. It eased her spirits and made her feel better. She had gotten it because she didn't want to get a real cat. She doubted she could ever love a living soul. Plus it was too much stress. She packed the clothes she had and the cat figurine. Once she was done, she gave one last look at the hotel room and walked out. She checked out of the hotel and walked out into the morning sun. It was the first time she'd come out since two months, and she had to admit the sun felt good on her ashen skin. She stood still for a minute, just absorbing the rays of the sun. She could feel people walking past and whispering things, but she didn't care. They had no idea what she'd just gone through, if they did they would jubilate with her. After soaking in the sun, she hailed down a cab and headed straight to the bank. Time to cash Edward's rotten money. Just the memory of him made her scowl and roll her eyes. But, she refused to let anything spoil her mood. At the bank, once they saw her name they instantly gave her attention, helping her with everything she needed. At least using his last name was useful. She left the bank with 100 million dollars in a fresh bank account, a couple tens of millions in her personal bank account, and ten thousand in cash in her handbag. She walked with confidence, feeling like a rich woman. She went to a nearby coffee shop, ordered the sweetest coffee they had with some crackers. As she enjoyed her breakfast, she wrote out some ideas in a notebook. First, she was going to leave town, go far far away from this rotten town, and it's rotten famous billionaire and his rotten image everywhere she turned. That's right, she would move to a small town, a quieter place where no one knew her and she could begin a new life in peace and move on with her life. After moving what would she do next? She paused, tapping the pen on her lip. She had no idea what to do. She was only 23, with no job experience whatsoever. She had met Edward when she was starry eyed, fresh out of college. She had a degree in business management and that was about it. That want good enough, even though she was now a rich woman, she didn't want to depend solely on Edward's money. Plus if she didn't work and just drank champagne all day what kind of life was that? She made a list of all the childhood dreams she had and only one stood out to her - baker. She decided there and then that she would open a bakery. Filled with renewed energy, she had the rest of her breakfast with a dreamt smile on her face. Her heart still hurt, still bled, but she would heal. *** "Please let me know if the house is to your liking." Anna had decided the moment she stepped into the homey bungalow, that it was hers. The house was old, with a rustic touch to it. It had two rooms, a kitchen, living room and bathrooms. The last tenant had been a grandmother, and the house was surrounded by flowers and herbs. There was a garden at the back that Anna couldn't wait to fill with vegetables and all thing she could grow in a garden. She has no idea yet but knew she'd get there. She turned to the landlady and smiled brightly. "Yes, I'll take it." The landlady smiled. "Perfect. Rent is due every 30th, please don't be late. Keep music low for the sake of other neighbors." Anna handed over the dollar bills that paid her rent to the landlady. "Thank you." "Enjoy your stay." The landlady said after counting the cash. She turned and left. Anna promised herself that she would. Her life has just begun and she was going to make good use of this golden opportunity handed over to her. She walked through the house, taking notes of everything she needed to buy to make it feel more at home. The town she'd moved into was quiet and full of nature. It was everything she wanted, quiet but not too quiet. Perfect for her to restart her life. She threw herself down on the couch and exhaled deeply. She felt peace, and it felt good. *** Anna was fitting in nicely into her new life. She started taking a baking class day by day and was slowly getting better at baking. She was making a book of recipes for her bakery. She also had plans underway for starting her bakery. She had her eyes on a*****e in the middle of town which was rumored to be very expensive. Not that she cared about money... A month later, her life was finally settling in. She perfected her baking and opened up her store. And it was a success. She saw a whole lot of customers, from different parts of the town. Her bakery bloomed and grew everyday and she was grateful to Edward, without him she wouldn't have this life right now. Anna began to notice some changed in her body, she was feeling tired and sick for no reason. She feared she might be coming down with something. She went to the hospital for some tests. The test results arrived in the mail a few days after. Anna felt an uneasy feeling in her stomach as she sat on her bed mentally preparing herself to read the results. She had a bad feeling about it. Deciding to just do it and get it over with, she tore open the envelope and pulled out the result. Contrary to her beliefs, she was in perfect health. There was nothing wrong with her body. But the feeling she had in her belly turned out to be vital. The tests revealed that she was pregnant. Her first thought was 'no, no, no, I can't have a reminder of him!' The paper slipped out of her hand and fell to the floor, dejected. Anna's mind was moving frantically, trying to come up with a solution to this new problem. A problem? She paused in her thoughts and rose to her feet. She walked over to her full length dressing mirror, took off all her clothes and stared at her reflection. Now that she was aware, there were certain things she'd missed in her body. Her hair was shinier and longer, reaching her hip bone. Her skin was glowing and her cheeks were flushed with life. Her breasts looked fuller to her and more perky. She turned to the side, staring at her flat belly. But if she squinted she could see the early signs of a bump forming. Her mind races with so many thoughts. Should she keep the baby? Or should she get rid off it? She began to pace the floors, biting her lip hard. If she decides to keep the child, she was full able to take care of it. And if she wanted to she could use the baby as leverage against Edward. But she shook her head, such thinking wasn't her. She was done with Edward, there was no going back. She drew in a deep breath. "I have a baby coming."
