Empty heart
"You're a good girl, you're the most precious present we ever had...Mom and dad love you, Millie.." - Then why you left me here all by myself so early?" - She asks as she places the bouquet down by her parent's graves. It rains all day on that day, same as today, the heavy rain drags her feelings down. She stands there, under the roaring sky, people say when you're in the rain, your soul will be freshened and you will forget all the hurts you have been through. She smiles, even though her heart doesn't heal up after that day. Being all alone, is it fun like she used to the thought. Walking past the stores, she takes a look inside. What a strange thing. She mumbles: - Why do all I can see is red and black? Lines crossing inside people, what happens to me? - Millie asks herself. She's been through years of weird things, she can't explain it, she doesn't know what it is. Millie walks inside the sweet shop, she takes the bag of mint chocolate and places it on the cashier table. The cashier man asks: - Your face doesn't look so good, young lady? Is there anything I can help you with?  - Thank you, you can help me with these sweets, I'm feeling better now. - She said. - Mint chocolate helps you to relax, people said so. What's your name? - The old man smiles. - Millie, sir. Just call me Millie.  The girl walks home, the small house near the main street. She finds something in front of the door, a little basket. She carefully checks around then opens it, there is a cat inside the basket, it opens its wide eyes looking back at her. She smiles: - You know that I'm a loner, right? I guess I have no choice but adapt to you, poor little cat. Millie brings the basket inside and sits on the sofa, she yawns. Laying her back down against the pillow, she finds the cat looking directly at her. Millie frowns: - Hey, don't you think that's a bit creepy? You don't spy on me, don't you? - She said as she moves closer to the cat, it licks its claws. Millie rubs the cat's body: - I think I should choose for you a name. Let me see...Stormy? Too dark. Pepper? Maybe a bit too tasty? The cat moves toward and makes itself comfy inside Millie's arm. The cat places its head next to her forehand, she lifts her right hand up. When she was born, there's a red poppy sign on her right hand, weirdly, her family doesn't have anything links to that. Millie touch the sign:  - You like this thing? Okay, then I'll call you...Poppy. Why do you like this kind of sign that much? Is it special? She blinks her eyes and the color is back to normal, not just black and red. Millie rubs her eyes and takes a look again. She groans: - This is so weird! I hate it every time it changes the color around me! What's wrong with me? What's wrong with that red poppy sign?
