BEFORE THE BEGINNING
Chapter 1 NARRATOR Our story begins when fire-breathing beasts were not things for mythical fantasies and story books for kids, when the horrifying beasts were real when Nightwalkers stalked the earth when stories and songs of different shapeshifters were not uncommon to hear in pubs, harlot houses, theaters, and in the mouths of careless and irresponsible drunkards. At that time, the world was divided into four large kingdoms, the kingdom of the North, South, East, and West. Ruled by supreme kings, In those kingdoms lived Creatures of the night, mortals, witches, and all sorts of shapeshifters known and unknown to men. The kingdom of the North, Konow, also known as the kingdom of Ice and Frost. Home to the most menacing and cold-blooded shifters, it was rumored that humans who visited the north either did not come back the same or did not come back at all. Yoru, the kingdom of the West, also known as the kingdom of Twinkling Night Stars housed the more traditional, rule-abiding faes and immortals who were able to co-exist with humans based on the human/fae treaty. While the treaty was a peaceful one, the conditions leaned more in the favor of the faes who were tricky beings. The kingdom of the East, Anam, known as the Kingdom of Fiery Summer, housed the fire-breathing faes, the Great Gold and Red dragons, Phoenixes, Djinns, Fire Giants, Salamanders, and Chimeras. They also co-existed with mortals and many other faes with their own set of rules that everyone abided by. The kingdom of the south, Ethaos, is known as the kingdom of Springs and Fall. Home to all types of faes, small and large, were well known for housing the water faes and immortals like the mermaids, the great sea dragons, sirens, nymphs, and sprites. It was rumored that Poseidon, the Great God of the Sea, and his consorts once resided there as well. Our story is focused on the kingdom of the South, Ethaos. Yes, this story began at that time when the creatures of the world did not just end with mortals, the actual moment (200AC ) when some brave soldiers had managed to drive off the magic bearers and evil-doers in their darling kingdom of the South, Ethaos, leaving only the mortals, unaware of what ran outside their kingdom and beneath their world. THAT is where we begin the actual story. The kingdom of Ethaos was made up of Five Powerful clans that were all important to the growth or downfall of the kingdom itself. Clan Diji was the most peaceful and happy clan of the kingdom of Ethaos, they flourished and thrived, they were the clan of the farmers, they grew the food that was distributed to other clans, and they grew the medicines that were used in curing the people of the kingdom so you would agree with us that this clan had to be the most important. They were gifted by the Goddess of Agriculture, Demeter and the Dijans worshipped her daily. They were mostly known for their earthly colors of clothes and the insignia of a hoe and leaves imprinted on each fabric. Clan Zhuzh of the Ethaos kingdom came next, they were the fabric makers of the whole kingdom, they were skilled with needlework, fabric making, and all the fashions of the court, the fashions of every living human in the kingdom were decided by the Zhuzh, they were the flowers of each season. They served the Goddess Clotho for the gift she had bestowed upon them and they were known for their high fashion in everything, they were also known for their heavy, kohl, lined eyes and dark lips. Clan A-wut were the weapon makers of the kingdom of Ethaos and thus precious to the people, the kingdom, and its king as well, because what kingdom does not need scary weapons to chase off enemies? They were less sophisticated and prim compared to the other two clans but why would blacksmiths who worked in hot shops day in and night need high-fashion items of clothing? They were known for their ash and grey clothing with insignia of dotted gold on their sleeves. They were also known for their tanned skin and brash behaviors. Next came the clan King's heart. Yes, the king's heart in name only but not exactly in deeds. This clan brought in the most money for the kingdom and hence their name but the ways in which they got that money… They were involved in lots of things that were good and lots more that were embarrassing to even talk about. They operated the harlot homes, the pubs that were responsible for grooming useless fathers who later died in gutters, they earned money in any way possible, they were the tricksters, the business moguls, the pirates, anything really, they were basically the money makers of the kingdom. They were not easily known. You could only know them if you had been robbed of your money or by the glint in their eyes when you brought out your bag of coins. They served the God Hermes. Last was the clan that was most despised and secretly feared. This clan was rumored to not be humans because they literally had no human feelings, they all were bunches of mercenaries. Clan Xeno was renamed after their god of mercenaries, Xenophon. It was also rumored that they were actual Athenians and descendants of the god. They did not smile, they did not joke around. They were groups of killers. If you needed guards, soldiers to fight, or assassins to kill off someone, the Xeno clan would be where to look. They were known for their physical tallness, muscled arms, bodies made for fighting, and brooding faces. Here, in this world is where our story starts. The story of a young noble woman who talks first before she thinks and the weird brooding warrior she meets. Their love begins with hatred and end with an undying love that is written in history.
