The next second, the knife was pressed against Meela's throat. Chaos erupted. "Kaius! Help me!" Meela screamed, terrified. Brianna stepped out from behind Kaius, her face full of fake sorrow. "He wants me. Let me take her place." Kaius grabbed her arm and shook his head. "No. She's just my sister." Meela looked away. She didn't call for help again. "Fine!" the man snarled, pressing the knife harder against her skin. "You want her back? Give me ten million dollars! Right now!" Kaius' eyes were ice cold. "The Goldwin family doesn't negotiate with terrorists." The man's face turned pale with rage. His eyes filled with the madness of someone who had nothing left to lose. Meela's heart skipped a beat. She closed her eyes tightly. When she opened them again, there was no fear left, only cold determination. She grabbed the blade with her bare hand. Blood dripped onto the floor. While the man was distracted, she slammed her head back into his nose. "Ah! You b***h!" the man screamed in pain. He pressed the knife down harder, trying to cut off her fingers. "Die!" The next second, a gunshot rang out. The man collapsed to the floor. Kaius stared down at him like he was already dead. "Take him away." No one moved to help Meela. Kaius knelt down in front of her. When he saw the dead look in her eyes, his heart skipped a beat. A strange panic washed over him. He gently took her injured hand in his. "I'm taking you to the hospital." Just then, Brianna fell to her knees in front of Meela, sobbing. "It's all my fault! I'm so sorry!" Before anyone could react, Brianna fainted. Kaius froze. A hundred emotions flashed across his face. Finally, he said hoarsely, "Meela, I'll have the driver take you to the hospital. Brianna's my secretary. I can't just leave her here." Meela didn't want to hear any more of his lies. She didn't care about their stupid love story. She turned and walked out of the club, her face pale. Kaius watched her leave, his heart pounding with panic. But he told himself she was just jealous. She was always like this when he spent time with Brianna. And she always came crawling back. All he had to do was say "don't be mad, Meela," and she'd forgive him. Meela got into the car. The driver looked at her nervously. "Mr. Goldwin told me to take you to the hospital." "Take me home," Meela said, staring out the window at the dark night. "I just want to go home." The driver hesitated, but her gaze was too desperate and cold. In the end, he started the car. A moment later, her phone rang. It was Kaius. "Meela, I have to stay here with Brianna tonight. I'll come see you tomorrow. "Brianna says she'll come over tomorrow to apologize. Just... don't be mean to her, okay?"
