Everyone in New York knew Meela was adopted. The day her identity was revealed, she was supposed to leave.

But Kaius had begged his parents to let her stay.

And he'd only grown more protective of her since then.

But only Meela knew the truth.

The night her secret came out, Kaius had burst into her room, his eyes red with desire.

"Can I?" he'd whispered.

And that was how their secret relationship began.

Chapter 1
"Look, Mr. Goldwin's here to pick her up..." The charity gala fell silent instantly. Every eye turned to Kaius Goldwin. He was the sole heir to the Goldwin family, ruthless and untouchable. But this cold, unsmiling man doted on his adopted sister Meela like no other. Kaius scanned the room until his eyes landed on the drunk woman in the corner. He walked over and slipped an arm around her waist. "Had too much to drink, hmm?" His thumb brushed across her exposed skin, and Meela's breath caught in her throat. "Don't... not here," she whispered. Everyone was watching. How could he be so bold? "Meela can't hold her liquor. I'm taking her home. Enjoy the rest of your evening, everyone." With that, he led her toward the guest rooms. ***** "You took so long," Meela mumbled as they entered the guest room. "Everyone kept pouring me drinks." Before she could finish, Kaius kissed her hard. She blushed, avoiding his eyes. "What if someone finds us?" Kaius' voice was low and rough. "No one will dare come in while I'm here." Meela melted into his kiss, lost in the heat of his gaze. When it was over, she got dressed and left first. Halfway down the hall, she remembered her mother had asked her to tell Kaius something. She turned back toward the guest room and froze when she heard voices inside. "Wow, Kaius, that was quite the show you put on for us. All for Brianna, huh? You really will do anything for her." Kaius sipped his whiskey, his voice cold and indifferent. "Don't say a word to Meela." He chuckled softly. "Ten more days, and Brianna's divorce will be final. This will all be over." "But how could you? You've watched Meela grow up." Kaius' voice turned icy. "I watched her grow up, yes. But I always knew she wasn't my real sister. "If she hadn't insisted on going to Europe six years ago, I wouldn't have missed Brianna's call for help. She never would've been forced to marry that monster." "But your parents will never accept a divorced woman as your wife." Kaius' voice held a cold certainty. "They will. In ten days, they'll have no choice. Nothing will shock them more than seeing Meela in my bed." Meela clamped a hand over her mouth to muffle her sobs. Five years of happiness. Five years of love. All a lie. He'd just been waiting for Brianna to get divorced. And she'd never been anything more than a tool. Meela looked at the couch where they'd just made love, and nausea washed over her. She ran to the bathroom and threw up. She'd always known she didn't look like her parents. Her eyes were much smaller than theirs. She'd found out the truth when she'd seen her blood test results in high school. Two people with type A blood couldn't possibly have a child with type B. Meela had guarded that secret carefully, always seeing Kaius as just her older brother. But Kaius had held her when she couldn't sleep at night. He'd fought anyone who bullied her. He'd even bought her sanitary pads when she'd gotten her first period and was too embarrassed to ask anyone. She'd thought she'd have to hide her love for him forever. But when her secret had come out, Kaius had begged her not to leave. He'd told her he loved her, and they slept together. For five years, he'd always said, "Wait a little longer." Meela had thought he was waiting for the right time to tell their parents. But the truth was, he'd been waiting for Brianna. Meela laughed bitterly and pulled out her phone. She dialed her biological father. "Dad, I changed my mind. I'll come with you to the base."
