"Throw a tantrum? You're damn right I am!" Meela's hand came down hard across Brianna's face. "Who the hell do you think you are, touching my things?" Brianna covered her cheek and cried silently, which only made Kaius angrier. "Meela!" He raised his hand to hit her. But when he saw the stubborn, unyielding look in her eyes, he hesitated. His hand hung in the air for a second, then fell back to his side. He looked away, and then his eyes landed on the medals scattered across the floor. His eyes widened in shock. Brianna sobbed harder. "I was just trying to help! I didn't mean to—" She knelt down to pick up the pieces and let out a little cry. "Ow!" A shard of glass cut her finger. "Leave it!" Kaius said immediately, pulling her to her feet. "Martha will clean it up." He turned to Meela, his voice cold. "Just forget about this, okay? No one has to know what happened here." "No!" Meela said fiercely. "Those medals are my father's! He almost died for them! No one gets to disrespect them!" Kaius met her red, angry eyes. His voice was calm but cruel. "And what about the twenty-two years my family spent raising you? Twenty-two million dollars. Is that enough to pay you back?" Meela's fists clenched so tight her knuckles turned white. He knew exactly how to hurt her. He knew her father would never let her dishonor the Goldwin family. All for Brianna. He would insult her and her father for Brianna. Meela walked past him to the door. "Get out." Kaius let out a sigh of relief. "You're still angry. I'll have Brianna apologize to you properly tomorrow." He never even noticed the suitcases by the door. Meela knelt down and picked up every single medal and certificate. When she picked up the last one, her blood ran cold. It was gone. Her father's Medal of Honor. The one that meant more to him than his own life. She searched the entire room, but it was nowhere to be found. Then she remembered. She ran out of the room. Kaius was standing at the bottom of the stairs. He saw her running toward Brianna and stepped in front of her. "Changed your mind?" "Give it back," Meela said through gritted teeth. "Brianna, give me my medal back. Now." Brianna trembled with fake fear. "I don't know what you're talking about!" But she deliberately glanced down at her pocket, where a red string was sticking out. Meela's eyes blazed with fury. She tried to push past Kaius, but he held her back. Brianna smiled silently at her. i***t. And then she threw herself backward down the stairs. "Ah!" She tumbled down the stairs, hitting her head hard on the wall at the bottom. She lay there, pale and still. "Kaius... help me..." Kaius slapped Meela hard across the face. "That's enough, Meela!" He ran down the stairs, picked Brianna up in his arms, and rushed out of the house. Blood trickled from the corner of her mouth. She looked down and saw the Medal of Honor lying on the floor. A tear dropped onto it. The whole thing blew up online. Videos of "the spoiled Goldwin daughter pushing his brother's future wife down the stairs" went viral. Goldwin Group's stock plummeted. In the end, Catherine took Meela to the hospital to apologize. When they walked into Brianna's room, Meela saw Kaius gently dabbing a wet cloth on Brianna's chest. He looked up when they entered, his face completely neutral. "Mom. Meela." Brianna blushed. "The doctor says Brianna has a mild concussion and a broken leg," Kaius said, staring straight at Meela. "Since this is our fault, I think Meela should take care of her." Catherine looked at Meela. "I think that's a good idea. What do you say, Meela?" "No." Meela turned and walked out. But before she could leave the room, someone slammed the door shut behind her. "Meela. Apologize." Meela turned around, her eyes like knives. "No. I didn't do anything wrong."
