Chapter 59

“Why don’t we stop for a while so we can go get lunch.” They were almost done with all the filing and sorting of the documents that were left there, all that was left was to bring them to Larse for checking and approval. “Oh, I...I have a packed lunch,” Lorraine quickly informs her, taking out a paper bag. “Wow, so do I!” Taking out her lunchbox she proudly shows it to the woman whose eyes suddenly became rounder upon seeing it. They both giggle as she began fixing the table inside their office. Lorry was still a bit shy though they’ve already been working together for two days. All that time she tried so hard to get along with her and make her loosen up. Though it wasn’t as easy as before, she was glad that somehow the woman was slowly opening up to her. “My mom’s been really serious with the diet regiment she’s making me do, so she doesn’t allow me to eat anything else except the ones that my dietician advises,” Lorraine tells her as she sat down on the round table, taking out her ready-made lunch. It consisted of a salad, one boiled egg, carrot sticks, and a piece of seasoned steamed fish. She felt her stomach suddenly tightened at the non-appetizing lunch. Everything seemed raw and wasn’t even seasoned. “I see, well lucky for me that we don’t have to go out to get food since we can just eat here,” she chuckles trying to take her sight off of the food. “I’d very much like that,” Lorraine smiles as she opened her lunch. The moment they started eating, it was obvious that the woman wasn’t enjoying her food, it seemed that she was just forced to put it in her mouth and swallow. “Can I try some?” she asks, curious as to how the food tasted. “Are you sure?” Lorraine paused and ended up frowning, her cheeks were puffy as she still had food in her mouth. “Yes!” With a cheerful smile and a nod she quickly scoops a piece of fish that the woman offered. Crystal froze for a moment as she began to chew, the food was so bland, soggy, and reminded her of a very unpleasant thing. Though she tried to hide it, it was obvious on her face since her eyes started turning watery and she was unable to swallow it immediately, feeling that she might just puke it out. Lorraine lowered her head, having a half-smile. “My mom made these, she doesn’t trust me when it came to making it myself,” she sheepishly says seeing Crystal almost turn ghostly. After a few moments, she was finally able to gulp it down, quickly grabbing her water jug to chug it down her throat. She was basically panting after her cheeks finally had color again. “Here, you should try these, their chicken breast and I baked them and I only used herbs and spices so you don’t have to worry about salt or cholesterol,” not waiting for an answer she immediately puts several pieces of her homemade nuggets on the woman’s platter. Not wanting to disappoint her, Lorraine doesn’t hesitate to take a bit and was immediately lively after having a taste of the food. “Thank you, these are great!” the woman’s face brightened as she savored every morsel of it. Thankfully she prepared a nice batch for the two of them, noticing the woman sneaking out to eat her lunch on her first days. “And you should try this dip, I made it myself and it’s a hundred percent non-fat!” Crystal proceeded taking out the condiments that she had to entice the woman to continue eating. “You seem to know a lot about cooking,” Lorraine giggled as she happily took another piece of the chicken nugget. “My mom owns a small eatery, so I learned most of the things I know from her, plus I’m also a self-thought when it comes to other types of cuisine,” she proudly says. Though it was in a different timeline she was still proud to say that all her knowledge came from her beloved mother. “I also thought myself how to bake,” Lorraine squealed in delight upon hearing the subject about it. It seems the woman hasn’t changed that much from the one that she had met before. Though it was obvious that Lorraine had almost lost almost all of her personality because of the years being under her family's shadow. She couldn’t help but feel bad as she blamed herself again for not being able to help out the woman during their younger years because she messed up with Clyde. “Really! I would love to try some of it!” Clapping her hands in delight and glee, since she felt so excited with the thought. Crystal decided that she will try her hardest to help out the woman regain her self-confidence, wanting to make up for all the supposed times that she could have helped her. Lorraine heaved a sigh. “I wish I was like you, though you don’t look like the foodie type, you still look so amazing. I mean, look at your figure, you’re basically perfect,” she states pointing her spoon at her hips and curves. Crystal let out a sweet smile, she suddenly felt so bad and at the same time disappointed that her friend had turned out like this. “You aren’t bad yourself, I mean you have a very beautiful figure,” she says back at her. Gesturing her attractive voluptuous body. Crystal had already seen the woman’s figure before though not in this timeline, but she could already attest that the woman’s body right now was already perfect and already far off than her previous figure. “My mom doesn’t think so,” Lorraine let out a pained chuckle, lowering her head while munching on a piece of carrot stick. Crystal’s chest suddenly felt so tight as she could feel the pain that the woman was feeling, having that sense of uncertainty, lack of appreciation, and depression rolling up inside of her. “Oh please, you’re body’s already great,” she gives her a light tap on the shoulder to at least lessen the burden that she was feeling. “Thanks, though I wish I’d still lose a bit more,” Lorraine nodded when she looked at her before letting out a weak smile. “Do you have any activities? What’s your exercise routine?” Crystal asks. She knew that the only way to fix this was to make sure that the woman would feel good about herself again, and that would only be possible if she could at least give her a sense of achievement. “I...I don’t have one, I’m not comfortable with people,” the woman states trembling at the question. “Want to try yoga? There’s this club that I go to that only has a set schedule and I usually take the night class, so there are not many people there,” she informs her. If the woman wanted to lose weight, then she was going to help out with it, and since she was in the same boat she decided to make her do the same things she had gone through, so that the woman would not hesitate, knowing that it was possible. “I...I don’t know,” Lorraine voided her gaze, unsure of the idea of going to a place she was not familiar with and doesn’t know anyone. “Just try it one time, it’ll be fun and I’m also just starting so we can both be in the same class and schedule,” she says again, trying her best to entice the woman to go with her. Hearing that, it seemed that Lorraine was suddenly interested. After a few moments of thinking and urging the woman surrendered to Crystal’s whim. “Okay, but I need to let my brother know,” Lorraine laughs a bit. Though this time it was genuine and a happy one. “Oh leave that to me, I’ll talk to him,” she winks at her, knowing full well how she would be able to make the man agree with it. “Thanks, Crys, I’m really glad I was transferred here with you, I never thought I’d meet someone as nice as you,” the woman implied. Those words seemed to touch her heart as she felt so relaxed and almost jumping with joy. Fueled by her drive to help the woman out, she was now suddenly full of confidence and relentless vigor to do everything that she can. “After we finish all this, we can take a breather and I’ll go talk to your brother. And I’m going to make sure he says yes.” Crystal sword as she clenched her fist and pressed it on her chest. “O-Okay,” that was all Lorraine could say as she was struck in awe with Crystal's unrelenting passion.
