The Magical Ring

Gladilaine's POV "What?" my Dad shouted when I knock at the door of his room. "Uhh uhm the the dinner is ready Dad," I answered while trembling in fear. My mother died because of blood loss when she gave birth on me. And so, my father didn't accept me as his child and he hates me so much. Since the first moment that I can recall, I never feel that my father treat me as his daughter. He always yell, scold and beats me even I don't make any mistakes. Well, everything that I'm doing was wrong in his eyes. I endured the pain of all those heartbreaking words from him and tried not to feel any hatred. I'm always trying to understand him and hoping that one day, he will accept me as his daughter. Thanks God I have a grandmother whom always a shoulder for me to lean on, specially when my father scolded me. She's always on my side, protecting, caring and loving me. She teaches me how to be kind and strong. And it's sad to say that she's dead now, she died on my 15th birthday. I can't help myself but cry everytime I remember this ill-fate of mine. From then on, my father gets even more cruel on me. He said that I'm a cursed, that I bring all this misfortune and that I take all his happiness. Every word of my father slowly kills me. Every yell of him really breaks my heart but I'm still trying to stay strong. By the way, he's a civil engineer and he often goes out for some business and work. When his at home, he never eats nor talk with me. He only speak on me when I made a mistake, oh it's not speak but yell and scold. Today is my 18th birthday and I wanna have a dinner with my father, even just now, I hope I can eat together with him. I gather all my strength and knock at his door. I told him that our dinner is ready even I'm so scared. He opened the door and I smiled because I think he would go out and eat with me. "F*ck! I'm so busy here and you're disturbing me just to say the dinner is ready?" he yelled while pointing his forefinger on my forehead. "Eat with yourself if your in the mood. I know how to eat when I'm hungry," He said. He closed the door angrily, "Booogs!" "Aa, I'm sorry," I murmured and go to the dinning table sadly. It's already 9:30 pm. I waited for him in the dinning table for more than 3 hours and atlast, his here. "Damn! Why are you still here? Get away, I'm going to eat." He eventually yell when he saw me. I saw our maid looking sad on us, "Just go to the kitchen." Father told her calmly. I'm so jealous that he's so kind to everyone except me. It's so unfair. "I just want to have a dinner with you dad, even just now only. It's my 18th birthday, remember? Please eat with me," I begged. "I only remember it's the day when my beloved wife and mother died. Shut up your mouth if you don't wanna get hurt. Now, get out of my sight," He seriously said while grinding his teeth with anger. "I have a good news too," I said even he's angry. "Good news? Or another burden? Huh?" he replied. "I passed the scholarship exam in the University of Oxillo, the biggest University in the Philippines," I answered. "What the hell, and who says that you're going to college? You've been a big burden to me since you were born. Such a useless child. You better find a job and leave this house. Don't ever comeback," he yelled and it breaks my heart. My tears flows down and I suddenly lost my patience. "Useless child? And you Dad, ain't you a useless father?" I said and turn around. I'm about to walk away when he grabbed my hand and make me face him. "Paaakk." He slapped me left and right. I can do nothing but touch my reddened face. "Rude girl, and now you know how to talk against me? Turning around while I'm not yet finished speaking?" He yelled. "You're such an evil girl, nothing good happen since you came into my life. What a brat! Get out of this house and I'll have peace," he shouted angrily. I immediately run away to my room and pack my things. I made up my mind, I'm leaving this hell. When I open my drawer, I see a little box. It's a little box my grandmother give me when I was 7, she told me not to open it unless I turn 18. I get the box and put it on my backpack. I only bring a few necessary things. I run out of the house. I walk until I get out of the subdivision whiile hoping for some taxi to pass by. It's 10:51 pm but I'm still walking and don't find any taxi. I keep on walking. Well, I don't know where to go. I only have 7,777 pesos on my wallet. I saw a waiting shed beside a street light and I go there. I sit and remember the little box that my grandmother gave to me. I get it on my backpack and open it. "Woaahh!" I said in amazement. "What a beautiful ring," I murmured and smiled even in this worst moment of my life. While sitting in the waiting shed, I wear the ring that my grandmother gave to me. I don't have any close friends because like my father, everyone hates me. Most of my schoolmates said, they get in trouble everytime I'm with them. My grandmother tell me nothing about our relatives too, she said there's none. I don't have a cellphone either and I really have no where to go. I prayed and ask for the Lords guidance. After I pray, I see 3 guys in an all black suit approaching. They wear a tiger mask and I feel very scared. I immediately run away and they chase me. "Help, help. Please help me," I yelled but it seems like no one from the houses here are going to help me. I'm scared to death but even at this moment, no one cares about me. I'm panting now, I run and run and yell and yell but no one cares. I saw some people watching from their windows and just close it when they saw the 3 guys. What the hell, who is this three? It's gonna be my doom. "Aaahh!" I slip off and I think my left ankle was broken. I tried to stand up but unluckily, I slip off again. And here they are now, the 3 smirked as they look at me. I look like a little helpless prey of this guys in tiger mask now. "Please don't hurt me. Please!" I cried but they just laugh at me. One of the guys have a baseball bat, he hold it tight and was about to his my head. I can do nothing but cover my whole face while trembling in fear. "No please, don't kill me. Don't." I cried. Though my life is full of pain, I don't wanna die yet. But if this is my end, I just wish that I can reincarnate and have a better new life.
