When they heard about The Darkness, everyone was afraid. They all left their homes and went deeper into the ocean, hoping that The Darkness would never find them, but they were wrong. Very wrong.
The Darkness found everyone and everything. It devoured everything in its path. And by devoured, it killed. Ava's parents had tried to make her go with them, but she couldn't. She had to stop The Darkness before it was to late. Before the whole ocean that had been her home for the past eighteen years was gone.
She understood the dangers of staying, and so did her friends. But all four of her friends agreed with their friend one hundred percent. If The Darkness were to destroy their homes, they would be alone in the ocean, with no families, and no home, they would be dead.
Ava was a brave mermaid. And very adventurous. She had beautiful wavy blond hair and pretty teal scales on her tail that glittered in the sun. She was always going on adventures with her friends that her parents would even ground her sometimes when she came home real late. They didn't understand that she wanted to escape and have some fun with her friends. Investigating, and having fun.
But her parents hated it when she did that. They got angry and grounded her from seeing her friends for entire weekends. That always made her sad, but she always saw them at school. She had exactly four friends. Nobody else liked her or wanted to be her friend because she was 'weird'.
Her four friends were the best friends she could ask for. Devin, Colby, Robin, and Heather. Devin had short brown hair, hazel eyes, and yellow and orange scales. Colby had short blond hair, warm brown eyes and light blue scales. Robin was Devin's sister, so she had the same traits as her brother, but had light green scales that blended in the forest at the bottom of the sea. And finally Heather was Colby's sister, and had light blue eyes, blond hair, and light pink scales. They had been friends since they had been in Kindergarten. So when they heard about The Darkness, they were afraid, but brave also.
The mermaids can understand what all animals of the ocean said, so when a dolphin came swimming at top speed, stopping only to say, "The Darkness is coming!" then kept swimming away everyone didn't believe the dolphin. Until everyone saw it.
The Darkness looked like oil, spreading in the water, but it wasn't. It had a voice; a deep booming voice that could send shivers up and down your back. A voice that belonged to death. Obviously everyone ran to pack up and leave. Ava and her friends refused. They had somewhat an idea of what The Darkness could do, and they didn't like it. So when their parents begged and begged them to go go with everyone else, they refused.
And now here they were, trying to come up with a plan to get rid of The Darkness once and for all...
