The Darkness

Chapter Two A Plan

Ava and her friends had a very restless night. Since they had stayed at their homes, they were able to have somewhere to sleep. But no one slept. There was at least on of them taking watch at all times. Watching for The Darkness to make a sudden move. But luckily, it never did. Didn't make sleeping easier though.

At the moment Colby was watching Ava was just about to go get a drink when he burst through her door panting for breath, making Ava jump almost out of her skin. "Gosh Colby! What's the matter?!" She asked because his face was so red from swimming fast. Colby swallows a few times before he answers. "It talked." Now Ava was confused, "'It'?" Colby says in his 'duh' tone, "The Darkness!" This makes Ava shocked, "What are you talking about?! It talked?!" she almost yells. Colby nods right before everyone else burst through the doors looking scared out of their wits. Before anyone can say anything, Ava says, "I know, it talked... But what did it say?"

Robin shudders, "'You don't have long' it said and I swear, it was talking to us Ava!" The whole group shudders at the same time. Ava goes into thinking mode, "Okay, 'you don't have long' well, that must mean he's going to move soon, so, we need an idea, and fast..." she starts whispering to herself, but her friends cant hear her. Heather was about to say something but Devin elbowed her, "Don't interrupt the thinker," he whispers.

After a couple of moments, Ava swims over to her desk were her notebook was and grabs it and a pencil. Turning back to her friends she says, "I have an idea." Devin smirks at her," Told you that you would," he says triumphantly. Ava rolls her eyes and jots something down and then says," Okay, so I though one or two of us distracts it- oh, quick and weird question, but um, do we have a big glass bottle?" Colby nods and answers, "I think we have some at the market, how big?" Ava tells him and he rushes off to look for it. "Oh! And make sure it has a top cover!" Ava shouts after him.

"Okay, so then what are we doing with the glass bottle?" Heather asks. Ava brightens, "Well, I thought we would put 'it' in the bottle." Everyone still looks confused. "If we can get it to go into the bottle, cover it up, then we put it under constant guard, then we don't have to worry about it getting away!" Ava concludes with a bright smile. Devin blushes lightly.

Robin nods, "Sounds about right, but um, quick question." Ava points at her, "Fire away." Robin's eyebrows scrunch together, "Well, if it can destroy anything in its path, then first, how are we going to get it into the bottle without one of us getting killed, and second, how do we know it won't escape by destroying the glass?" Ava smiles, "I have a plan for that to, don't you worry." Robin looks uncertain, so does Heather, but Devin just smiles and nods his head.

Colby comes swimming back holding a huge glass vase, "How is this?" He wheezes. Ava points at her desk, "Great, just set it there. Colby runs over and sets it down. "I had to go all the way to the back, because I couldn't find it anywhere else, that's what took me so long," he pauses for a deep breath, "So, what do we need it for?" Everyone looks at Ava. She explains the whole idea. Colby nods, "Sounds pretty smart."

Heather coughs, "But no one is answering the big question here!" she says loudly. Everyone turns to her and Robin. "What do you mean?" Colby asks. Robin rolls her eyes, "How are we going to capture it in a bottle if it can kill everything in it's path?" There's silence for a bit. Colby suddenly says, "Robin does make a point there. . ." Ava sighs, "We'll work it out I guess. . ." Devin looks at everyone in shock. "Guys, she's trying to help us, don't look for all the things that could go wrong! Look for all the good things! Like this might actually work! The Darkness could be defeated once and for all!"

There's silence for a moment or two before Robin says, "I'm sorry Ava, I guess I'm just afraid, we all are, i shouldn't take it out on you, I'm sorry." Ava smiles at her, "It's okay, you did make a good point though." It's silent for a little whil longer. "Well, why don't contemplate this over food?! I'm starving!" Devin says and everyone bursts out laughing.
