“Don’t come over. I’m tired. I just want to rest tonight.”»
“Ahh... s**t. Ang sarap. Make it harder. Oh, God...”
“I told you not to come here, but you didn't listen,” mahina niyang sabi.
“Camille, that's not what I meant—”
“Then what did you mean?” mabilis kong putol.
“It was a mistake.”
“Mistake?”
“Don’t blame me, Camille.”
“Yes! It’s your fault! because you’re so damn selfish! We’ve been together for seven years, Camille! Seven years! And not once have you ever given in to me! I’m a man, and I have needs!”
I let out a bitter laugh, but this time, there was no sadness behind it.
Only anger and disappointment.
“Selfish?” I repeated, barely able to believe the audacity of what he was saying. “I’m selfish, so that’s why you cheated on me over and over again?”
I stepped closer to him, never breaking my furious gaze.
“Is that really how shallow your excuse is, Marco? Just because I wouldn’t give you what you wanted, you thought you had the right to find someone else?!”
My hands clenched into fists.
“If you had needs, then why didn’t you tell me? Why didn’t you leave me? Why did you have to keep cheating on me while I trusted you with everything I had?”
My voice trembled with anger.
“Seven years, Marco! I loved you and trusted you for seven damn years!”
I could feel my chest tightening, but I refused to look away.
“And now you’re telling me it’s my fault because I wouldn’t give you what you wanted?”
I shook my head, fighting back the tears burning in my eyes.
“You didn’t cheat on me because you had needs. You cheated on me because you had no respect for me.”
My voice rose as all the anger I had been holding back finally burst out.
“So don’t you dare put the blame for your betrayal on me!”
For a moment, silence filled the room.
Marco stared at me, but I refused to look away. My chest heaved as I tried to steady my breathing, but the anger burning inside me was far too strong.
“You made that choice, Marco,” I continued, my voice shaking. “No one forced you to lie to me. No one forced you to touch another woman. You did it because you wanted to.”
A bitter smile tugged at my lips.
“So stop acting like you had no choice. Stop making excuses and, for once, have the courage to admit that you’re the one who destroyed us.”
My eyes burned with tears, but I refused to let them fall.
“Seven years of my life... and this is how you repay me?” I whispered, my voice breaking. “You betrayed me, then had the audacity to make me feel like I was the reason you did it.”
I took another step back, putting distance between us.
“I may not have given you everything you wanted, but I gave you my trust. I gave you my loyalty. But you threw all of it away.”
For a few seconds, neither of us said anything.
Marco opened his mouth as if he was about to defend himself again, but I raised my hand, stopping him.
“Don’t,” I said, my voice low but firm. “I don’t want to hear another excuse.”
I swallowed hard, trying to keep myself from breaking down in front of him.
“I spent seven years believing that you were the person I could trust the most. I defended you. I chose you. I stayed even when things weren’t perfect.”
A tear finally slipped down my cheek.
“And this is what I get in return?”
I quickly wiped it away and looked straight into his eyes.
“You didn’t just betray me, Marco. You destroyed the version of me that believed love was supposed to be safe.”
He remained silent.
I took a deep breath and stepped farther away from him.
“So no, I’m not going to apologize for having boundaries. I’m not going to feel guilty because I wasn’t ready to give you something you wanted.”
My voice trembled, but this time, I refused to let it break.
“If you couldn’t respect that, you should have walked away.”
I shook my head, finally letting the tears fall.
“But instead, you stayed. You lied to me. You cheated on me. And worst of all, you made me believe that I was the problem.”
I stared at him for a long moment, taking in the face of the man I had loved for seven years.
The man I thought I knew.
The man I trusted more than anyone.
“You should have been honest with me from the beginning,” I whispered.
Then I looked away.
Because no matter what he said next, I knew one thing for certain.
Whatever we had...
Whatever love I once believed existed between us...
Could never be the same again.
