Chapter 2: Ethan

Ethan took a deep breath. “Alpha-“ “Caelum, please,” Ethan was stunned for a moment. It was a great respect for an alpha to offer to b called by their first name. They sat in silence for a moment before Lucy whispered please. She was so broken, so tired of disappointment. After being with Killian for so long, she just wanted to give him a family, something all female wolves should do if they choose. Ethan nodded, “I know someone who can help. I can’t promise anything, I can’t promise going to her will help, but if - if anyone can, I know it’s her,” “Really?” Lucy whisper, eyes filling to the brim with tears. Ethan gave a small smile and nodded. Caelum furrowed his brow, “Is she part of your pack?” “Yes,” Caelum noted how Ethan’s jaw clenched. “Then why would no one just say that? Why - keep her a secret? Is she a secret?” Ethan’s eyes darkened but he treaded carefully. The way his pack treated his sister also made his wolf rise, “No, she is not a secret. There is a difficult history between her and Alpha Silas,” Caelum could feel Lucy wanted to jump out of her skin in excitement. He wanted to probe further, “Do you trust her? This mystery girl Silas displeases?” “With my life,” It was Caelum’s turn to be stunned; Ethan’s answer was quick and sure, leaving no doubts. He cleared his throat. “Why? Usually if an alpha turns his back to someone it’s for a good reason,” Ethan took a moment before responding, “Because she’s my sister,” he made sure to level eye contact with Caelum for the appropriate amount of time. He didn’t want to be disrespectful but he wanted Caelum to see how much he trusted his sister. Lucy gasped as hand flew to her mouth and the tears flowed down. “Luna Grace? She’s the one who can help us?” Ethan dragged a hand down his face. Of course they assumed he was talking about Grace. He answered quietly, “No… A different sister. She’s the youngest of my family,” Lucky looked confused, “Evara?” Caelum watched as Ethan gave a frustrated chuckle, “No. Elyndra,” “I’m sorry, I didn’t know you - uh - had another sister,” Lucy looked toward Caelum. He watched Ethan clench his fists, close his eyes, and take a breath. “Don’t worry about it,” he was itching for a run, “She can help,” he looked to Caelum again, “Tell Beta Killian not to ask around about her. If he has questions he can go to Gamma Dylan. But I’ll write down her address so he can go to her tonight. I’ll let her know to expect him.” Without looking away, Caelum nodded and said “Lucy, please leave us. I’ll talk with Killian.” He waited for her leave, “Ethan, what’s going on? I am confused and concerned about you. You say you trust her with your life yet you react so fiercely,” Ethan let his wolf forward, his eyes glowed bright green, but Caelum knew it wasn’t a threat. He wanted to see the trust. “I trust her with my life Caelum, she - she has been through more than she should have. My pack turned their back on her and - it just brings up a lot of emotions when I think of how they continue to treat her. She deserves more,” Caelum nodded slowly, “Does she have something to do with the low rogue numbers?” Ethan’s wolf drew back and he had a side smile as he nodded. “Perhaps a conversation for a different day. Please leave her address and I’ll talk with Killian. You should go for a run and do some training before you talk to her,” “Yes, Alpha,”
