She was in the middle of her fist shift when Dylan walked through the doors. She smiled at him and he smiled back, “I can’t believe he called you,”
“You knew he was going to,”
“Well I hoped he wouldn’t. I hate to have to pull you away from your duties,”
He waved her off and took a seat at the back of the bar top where he could keep an eye on the entrance and the kitchen.
“I’m working a double today, last minute decision, I’m sorry,” Elyndra said as she place a slice of pie and a cup of coffee in front of her.
“It’s all good El, I’m sure he knew that. He’s actually got a strange way of knowing things you wouldn’t think he would,”
She laughed, “I was just thinking that this morning,” They chatted for a little longer before another customer came in. He didn’t know why Silas rejected her, she lit the room and moved with such grace. She was made to be a Luna. He hoped the Moon Goddess blessed him with a mate like Elyndra.
As the afternoon grew later, a disheveled man entered the room. He radiated power, Elyndra and Dylan could tell. But he looked like a rogue and he looked nervous. Dylan watched as Elyndra slowly approached with a soft smile. Like a frightened deer.
“Hi, can I help you with anything?” Elyndra asked softly.
The rouge glanced at her through his lashes and said just as softly as her, “I’m looking for named Ely, a friend told me I would be safe here,”
Elyndra was happy for her wolf hearing. She smiled a little more, still not wanting to startle him off, “That’s me,”
His eyes shot to her, wide. “No, no, you’re too clean and pretty,”
She laughed softly and extended her hand, palm up. She let her magic flow and iridescent sparkles danced above her hand. “I promise. I can try to help you. Let’s sit. I’ll get you something to eat, okay?”
He was in awe, he was about to follow her but saw Dylan. He stopped and growled. Eyes glowing bright silver. Dylan dropped his gaze and showed his neck. Whoever this was, was more than a rogue. Elyndra didn’t shy away. The perks to not having a wolf, is that she was not prone to bowing down and submitting.
Still soft spoken, but firm, she stepped in between them and looked the rogue in the eyes. “Dylan is my friend. He won’t hurt you as long as you don’t hurt me, and I won’t let anyone hurt you here either,”
The rogue’s wolf descended and he apologized before following her. Dylan knew he should probably tell his alpha, but at the same time he didn’t want too. Elyndra got the rogue a big hot plate of food and something to drink. She sat and talked with him for a long time. She spelled their booth so whatever was said, he couldn’t hear. While he didn’t like it, he knew this is what she did. She helped a lot of rogues. They felt safe with her. Elyndra only stopped when a new customer came in. She still gave them attentive service so no one felt ignored.
Elyndra felt for the rogue, whose name was Levi. He had been on the run since he was a pup, someone was always chasing him and he was so tired of running. He couldn’t remember too much before running. Elyndra knew he was an alpha though, and that he didn’t belong as a rogue. She would help him, of that she was sure. She told him how she could help him, but as always never guaranteed an outcome.
“Why can’t you promise?” Levi asked softly.
Elyndra smiled softly, “Because it is not my job to promise fates. The Goddess may have a fate for us, but the she also gives us free will. With that free will, choices get made, and fates can change,”
He was quiet for a moment, his gaze never wavering from hers, “Okay, I - I trust you,”
“Are you okay?” She asked worriedly.
“I’ve only said that to one person before and we - we got separated, I haven’t seen them in a long time,” he looked down at his plate. Trying to remember. Elyndra reached across the table and grabbed his hand. She squeeze - a silent promise that she would do everything she could to help him.
