The rest of the day was going well, Elyndra had almost forgotten about the feeling from this morning. She was looking forward to this evening; she loved being able to help people. She had found that it was more rare when she couldn’t. Elyndra was rolling off Dylan’s iced tea when the bell above the door jingled. She froze as she watched Silas and Grace enter the diner with her parents and younger sister. They never set foot in her. Not in 10 years. Not when her grandmother died.
She took a deep breath before waking toward them and skipped the pleasantries. “What are you doing here?”
Eva smirked, “That’s no way to greet your Alpha and Luna,”
Elyndra wasn’t scared of them. They showed her who they were and what she was to them. Just because she didn’t participate in pack gatherings, didn’t mean what they thought it did. She snarled at her, causing Eva to take a step back behind their parents. She turned to Silas and Grace, “You’re not welcome here, get out,”
Silas frowned, “We came to get a bite to eat. Ethan is always talking about this place,”
Elyndra gave him a flat look, “All of have no place here. Leave,”
Her parents scoffed at her, “Elyndra, that is no way to act. We didn’t raise you to be like this,”
Her temper flared and the lights flickered, “You stopped raising me the moment you learned I was like grandma and didn’t have a wolf. Don’t you dare tell me how to act,”
Grace tried to change the subject, “You let rogues in here?”
“This isn’t pack territory” Elyndra stated.
“Still -“
“Do you need help Ely?” Levi was quiet as he came up behind her and put a hand on her shoulder. Before she could answer, Levi had taken a deep breath and snapped his head up to look at Grace. Elyndra’s stomach dropped. His eyes glowed silver as he looked at her and he growled out, “Mate,”
Silas pulled Grace behind her and growled out, “She’s mine,”
Levi, surprisingly let Elyndra grab his hand. Grace instinct let out a growl causing Silas to snap his head back to her. Grace whimpered and Silas and Levi were growling at one another. Her parents had started to circle them, pulling her sister out of the way. She felt her heart pinch.
“Levi,” Elyndra started softly. She didn’t remove her hand from his, but she turned her back to Silas, telling all she didn’t consider him a threat.
Levi glanced at her and mumbled, “Is it true?”
She nodded, “They chose each other, years ago,” she whispered.
“But Mates are gifts from the Goddess,”
Elyndra didn’t think she had any more tears regarding this situation, but to her surprise her eyes welled and she choked on her words, “Yes, they are. But they chose a different path,”
Levi was smart, he knew there was more and put the pieces together after asking, “This is your blood family?”
“Yes,”
He gave one curt nod before looking for Grace. He looked at her, wolf still ascended, and without breaking eye contact, rejected her. “I, Levi, reject you, sister of Elyndra, as my fated mate blessed by the Goddess.”
He felt an ache in his chest, felt it growing and filling his body. He stumbled and Elyndra caught him with a gasp, shocked at what happened.
Grace clutched her chest, where her heart was, and gasped, “Oh my,”
“Why would you do that?” Elyndra asked.
Levi grunted, “I don’t want to be mated to someone who would hurt her sister like that, who would hurt you simply for being different,”
Elyndra felt the tears fall down her face. While her brother had tried to stand up for her, he was bound to listen to the word of the Alpha. He didn’t have the full freedom Levi had and she had never experienced something so pure before.
Being a rogue for so long, Levi was quick with his reflexes. He felt the old beta coming towards them and threw Elyndra towards Dylan. They wanted to kill him, and there was a high chance they might win in his current state.
