AUTHOR’S POV: "Lane," a voice says in William's head, and he staggers before a wave of terror washes over him as he realizes that everything he has been told about this place, about everything, is a lie. The room spins, and a sense of danger settles over him, causing his stomach to knot and his breathing to constrict. Just then, the host doctor's voice breaks through the haze. "Are you alright?" William's lips feel numb as he quickly compose himself, nodding with forced calm, knowing he can not let his emotions show. “Yes, I’m... I’m fine. You... you were right. "I should not have looked at him," he stammers, his heart racing as he covers Lane's face again, beads of sweat forming on his brow. The host doctor nods in agreement, advising William to get some fresh air before returning.
