AUTHOR’S POV:
Taking a deep breath, William sits next to Lane. Lane looks at William and asks what he means when he says Leonie died while giving birth to his son, as if he is only now processing it.
However, rather than responding with an answer, William poses his own question. He inquires about Lane's last memory of his family as well as whether he can remember the shooting incident that happened to him and his location at the time.
Lane informs him that they were about to leave for France as part of his graduation celebrations, and William's eyes widen as he realizes Lane has no recollection of the last twenty-one years of his life.
He pulls out his phone, opens Lane's profile, and gives it to him. Taken aback, Lane looks at William after reading about himself for some time.
