Gavin’s car stopped in front of an elegant-looking restaurant. From the outside, its warm lights glowed, and several crystal chandeliers could be seen through the large windows.
Ariel glanced at Gavin. “We’re eating here?” she asked, trying to sound enthusiastic.
“Yes,” Gavin replied with a smile. “They say this place has a special menu that’s only available tonight. I booked a special table.”
They got out of the car, and a waiter immediately greeted them and guided them inside. Once they entered, Ariel realized the atmosphere was truly romantic. There were candles on every table, red roses in small vases, and soft music filling the room.
But what surprised her a little was that there were several cameras in the corners of the room.
Ariel turned to Gavin with a questioning look. “What’s going on?”
Gavin gave a small smile. “It’s nothing, just a few lifestyle reporters covering the place.”
Ariel held her breath for a moment, then gave a faint smile. Deep down, she didn’t really like being recorded in such personal moments, especially with their relationship having been strained lately. But she chose to pretend to be happy.
The waiter showed them to a beautifully decorated table. A clean white tablecloth, gleaming porcelain plates, and a softly lit candle in the center.
A photographer approached. “May we see your smile, Miss Ariel?”
Ariel smiled politely. “Of course.”
Gavin seemed to really enjoy the media’s attention. He sat closer, and when the first dish arrived, he picked up a spoon and fed Ariel.
“Try this, it’s really good,” Gavin said with a broad smile.
Ariel opened her mouth, accepting the bite. “Hmm… yes, it’s pretty good,” she replied, still smiling, though in her heart there was no excitement like before.
Gavin chuckled softly. “I’m glad you like it. Thank you for coming tonight. Five years together… we’ve been through so much.”
Ariel nodded. “Yes, so much. Thank you as well for staying with me.”
Several reporters took pictures of the moment. Gavin glanced briefly at the cameras before turning back to Ariel. “You know, I’m really grateful to have you in my life.”
Ariel smiled, a little awkwardly. “Me too…”
Dish after dish was served. Gavin kept the atmosphere as if everything was perfectly fine. Occasionally, he made light jokes, and Ariel responded with a faint laugh.
After the main course was finished, the restaurant lights suddenly dimmed slightly. The music turned softer, and a waiter brought a small black box to the table.
Ariel looked at it, slightly puzzled. “What’s this?”
Gavin took a breath, then stood up. All eyes in the restaurant, including the reporters’ cameras, turned to them.
“Ariel Nicolae…” Gavin looked at her with a full smile. “For five years, you’ve always been by my side. We’ve laughed, cried, and even argued. But one thing’s for sure, I could never imagine my life without you.”
Ariel just looked at him, trying to smile even though her heart felt strange.
Gavin opened the box, revealing a diamond ring that sparkled under the candlelight. “Will you marry me?”
Murmurs could be heard around them, and several reporters began taking even more photos.
Ariel was silent for a few seconds. She looked at the ring, then at Gavin. Many thoughts ran through her mind, including the image of Zayden and Gavin’s betrayal that night. But with all eyes on her, she knew that refusing in public would cause a huge scandal.
Finally, Ariel gave a small nod. “Yes… I will.”
Applause filled the room. Gavin smiled widely, then slipped the ring onto Ariel’s ring finger.
Reporters began taking photos from every angle. One of them even asked, “Young Master Gavin, may we have a comment on this proposal?”
Gavin hugged Ariel briefly. “I’m so happy. Ariel is the best woman in my life.”
Ariel only gave a faint smile, then said shortly, “Thank you.”
Elsewhere, in a luxurious apartment, Iora sat on the sofa watching a live broadcast of the moment on her tablet.
Her hands clenched. “So Gavin proposed to Ariel, and Ariel accepted it…” she muttered, her eyes burning with anger.
An assistant sitting beside her tried to speak. “Miss Iora, are you alright?”
“Quiet,” Iora cut in. “She thinks she’s won? She thinks with that ring, I’ll give up?”
Iora shut off the tablet roughly, then leaned back on the sofa. A faint smile appeared on her face, but her gaze was full of schemes. “This is only the beginning.”
Meanwhile, back at the restaurant, Gavin was still holding Ariel’s hand.
“Thank you for saying yes to me,” he said softly.
Ariel looked at him for a moment, then nodded. I hope this is the right choice, she thought, before smiling again in front of everyone.
