hen nothing.”
“What?! Ok, I'm going to my car now. I'm closer so...,” Kent said.
“Kent,” Jax interrupted. “He said I'd never see her alive again.”
“s**t! I'm on my way.”
The gas station clerk heard her screaming and had called the police. He ran out to see which way they went. The police arrived with multiple K-9 units. They used Macy’s lab coat that was in her car for the dogs to pick up her scent.
Kent arrived seconds before Jax. “How the f**k did you?” he realized what he was asking. “Ugh, never mind.”
Jax ran over to her car. It was being processed. Jax hadn’t even changed out of his combat uniform. Kent was close behind him.
“Sir, you can’t be over here,” the CSI said.
“She’s my fiancée,” he barked. He could see blood on her steering wheel. He was seething. He wanted to go look for her.
The officer in charge came over to talk to them. “I’m Lt. Baker. We are doing everything we can to find her. Do you have a picture of her? I can add it to the APB.”
“Yeah, absolutely.” He pulled out his phone and handed it to the lieutenant.
“Oh, wow, she’s gorgeous.” He stopped himself and apologized. “I’m sorry, that was unprofessional.”
“It’s ok, she is.”
“Can I get your name?”
“Lt Jax Gunner, and this is my captain, Kent Marshall.”
Kent asked, “What can we do?”
“Several K9s have gone out already. For now, I need you to wait here for now.”
“I can’t just do nothing,” he growled. “God damn it.” He stormed away.
Macy was scared to death. All she could think about was never seeing Jax again. The man grabbed her by the hair and smashed her head into the dashboard, and she fell conscious. Then he pulled her out and dragged her off into the woods. Finally, he found a spot to stop. He threw her to the ground. She woke up with him on top of her. “Get off me!” she screamed. She rolled over to try and get away.
He stood up and stomped on her hand as she reached to crawl. She withdrew it and cried out. He sucker punched her in the face, and she fell back to the ground. “Stop moving,” he growled and held a knife to her throat. She stopped. He took the knife and cut her top open. She looked away. Then he cut her bra off and grabbed her breast. She cringed and tears started streaming down her face.
She was mortified when he yanked her scrubs down. She closed her eyes and looked away as he pulled her panties aside and slammed his fingers inside her. “Please, don't,” she repeatedly begged. The more she begged, the more angry and violent he got.
He unzipped his pants. She tried to push him off, but he was too strong. He exposed his p***s and forcefully penetrated her. She closed her eyes, trying to disconnect from her body. He slammed himself inside her a few more times, then got off her because the K9s could be heard barking.
He was pulling her up, but she again fought him. He took the knife and jabbed her in the back, threw her down, and took off as the dogs neared. She could feel the blood running down. She lost consciousness and fell to the ground.
Several hours passed and still there was no sign of Macy. The dogs lost her scent over a creek running through the woods. They picked it up again, but it went in multiple directions. This suspect was smart. They returned to the gas station. Kent told the supervisor that he was going to round up some of his men to start searching. With still no sign of Macy, he agreed.
Kent pulled his phone out and turned towards Jax to tell him what he was gonna do, but Jax was nowhere to be found. “Damn it,” Kent said. “Damn him.” He tried calling Jax's cell but got voicemail. “Son of a b***h. I’m gonna kill him.” He made the call to the base.
Within 20 minutes, their entire company arrived ready to search. Kent told them, “Lt. Gunner has gone rogue, so be prepared.”
They readied to head out. A second group of K9s were dispatched. The Marine company followed them out into the woods.
Jax felt like he had been searching for hours. The sun would soon be coming up, but he wasn’t giving up until he found her. He started calling out to her.
“MACY! Macy, where are you?” Silence. He kept going. “MACE! Can you hear me?” he begged. His cell rang again. It was Kent. “What?”
“They got him!”
“What about Macy?”
“I'm sorry, and he's not talking.”
“Where the f**k are you at?”
“Jax, you're not coming back here. We won't get answers by you pummeling the s**t out of him.”
“Has the mother fucker said anything?”
“Nothing useful.”
“Kent, what has he said?” Jax snapped.
“All he has said is 'the morning dew will you give you what you're looking for.'”
“What the f**k is that supposed to mean?”
“ No idea but they're still trying to get more from him.”
“Do they know who he is?”
“Not yet, they're working on that.” Kent didn't tell Jax the suspect appeared to have a military background. “One of the dogs did put a world of hurt on him though.”
“Good.” Jax turned off the phone and kept calling for her. He could hear the K9s barking. He ran towards the sound. Just then he could see a clearing and ran faster. The field was dewy. His heart was racing.
As he got closer, he heard sirens in the background. His heart sank. Did they find her? Was she alive? When he got up to the spot the dogs were, he could see Macy's body on the ground half clothed, and her head was bleeding. He ran over to her. His company arrived at the scene just before him. One threw his coat over her to try and cover her.
“She's unconscious but alive sir. Medics are on their way.”
Jax dropped to the ground and broke down in tears. “Macy, baby, please hold on.”
