STARTLING NEWS
Johnson and his friends sat in a circle on the beach, eating and drinking the snacks, wine, and water they’d brought with them. Daniel and Julie had left but the others remained. They had chipped in with picnic food and drinks for dinner, but now he wondered if they should’ve gone home. Lisa was laughing heartily but her eyes appeared glazed from having too much alcohol. Not that he blamed her after all the pain she’d experienced recently. She was definitely not driving in that state.
He sat back and listened to the conversation about Jarod and Lara’s daughter and smiled. He hoped to have children one day and wondered if it would be with Lisa. She was special and he knew that he was falling deeply in love with her. He wondered if she felt the same way.
